that the actual game day roster is only 18 players. I would love to see them both on that roster, but it's likely only one will be there.

although i would love to see beckerman play in the game i think findley is gonna be the only one playing in the game or games to chase down balls in the final minutes of matches. sort of what they have connor casey do also..

Totally agree man.

beckerman | 6:05 a.m. Aug. 28, 2009
deserves to be higher than clark on the central mid list. he has much better passing and touch, just as good of defensive capability, but doesn't get red cards every other game. he also has a much more potent/accurate shot from distance.

good to see beckerman getsome recognition. he deserves it.

I will see you there.

10 of 22 from MLS squads, including 4 of the 6 forward positions. Is the selection of these players an attempt to appease MLS/USA fans, or is this a correct assessment of the talent of players in MLS who are USA born?
Matt Thompson | 8:38 a.m. Aug. 28, 2009
Goodness, Ching AND Casey made the 24 man squad? What is Bob thinking? "Slow and effortless players are the best the USA has?" Call in Jaqua and Buddle, they, along with our boys Findley and Beckerman, will make alot more of their call ups than the two slow-pokes Casey and Ching.

beckers over clark any day

Congrats to Robbie and Kyle, you both earned it and deserve it.
Birdman brings up an interesting point. I would answer that in my opinion the MLS has elevated itself, and most of the 10 deserve to be there. MLS and US are both growing. I do think it's good that our top GKs play in Europe but I think it is a little overrated playing in Europe. Don't get me wrong the best in Europe are waaaaaay better than the best in the MLS. The bottom feeders in Europe would get murdered in the MLS. I think in 10 years MLS will be on par with the budesliga, Ligue 1 and Portuguese Liga.
Some people act like MLS is such a horrible league that is so far below everything but it isn't. Beckman scores more in the other leagues he played in than he does in MLS. He is more of an average player here than in other countries. I might be crazy but I've seen games from all the Euro leagues, we aren't far behind. 4 years ago it was a joke, now MLS is the real deal.
Roster | 11:04 a.m. Aug. 28, 2009
Reality check: Both Findley and Beckerman didn't need to be flown in by the USSF and will provide pratice competition for the regulars. Neither player is going to see the field. No way does Findley play with Ching, Altidore and Davies on the roster. Bob Bradley could have called in a lot better back up players but at least the starting 11 will be fun to watch. Though it stinks that ONYEWU is out due to yellow card accumulation. WEAR YOUR RED and support the U.S.!

They both deserve to be there. I think Findley is underrated. He can run and has quick feet on the ball. He isn't nearly as good as Davies or Altidore, but he is way better than Ching. Why does Ching continue to get called up? He is slow and can only head the ball. I know our RSL boys won't get playing time, but they deserve to make the squad.
a stunt | 5:46 p.m. Aug. 28, 2009
Putting Findley and Beckerman on the roster is just a stunt to get more local support and hype for the game. I dont expect to see either one of them get very much playing time. If we have a big lead then maybe..
Chaco | 1:14 a.m. Aug. 29, 2009
This is not a stunt; not when we're sitting in 3rd with the 4th team having to duke it out with a South American team.

I expect to see Beckerman on the pitch. As shown in the early games of the conferations cup, the US National team is in need of holding midfielders, And, as demonstrated in the gold cup, there are 2 names that come up - Holden and Beckerman.

I don't see Findley getting action if the game is close.
georg | 10:40 p.m. Aug. 30, 2009
Agree, this is not a stunt to get local support, support is already there.
Beckerman played very well in the gold cup, and Findley is scoring goals.
Lets not forget that both of these players will be potentially playing on there home pitch and at altitude!!
Congrats to Both!!!
