And with the economy being in the toilet, what do the expenditures of NASA get us for this program? Is our goal to bring about permanent travel in space or to set-up places for the average Joe to live off this planet? What is the 10, 20, 50 year strategic plan? Somehow does not make sense..

Just as Europe paid money in hard times to send explorers to a new world, so we must push boundries. Technology and business and the hope and imagination in people is worth every penny. This is an investment and a good one.

I am glad the mission was successful.

The efforts are worth every penny. I remember seeing President Kennedy's speech when I was a kid.

The benefits from the adventure are invaluable. Medicine, science, computers. Too many to name.
