Great News. I love his atitude. I hope he can improve his point guard play a bit and play morethan Maynor.
Price Fan | 3:14 p.m. July 14, 2009
Great signing. He is a great change of pace guard that allows the Jazz some different looks (i.e. small ball). Good defender that knows the system and knows how to please Sloan. A one year deal likely allows an easy trade if the Jazz need salary flexibility. Solid move.
Miles | 3:17 p.m. July 14, 2009
Didn't see this coming. I would have preferred Kruger who is a true point guard that can shoot lights out when left unguarded. Price is more athletic but not a good point guard for Jerry's system. Maybe they are planning on using him more at the two?

I had hoped for better  | 3:20 p.m. July 14, 2009
but a one year deal limits the damage. Price at least knows the system. Now if he can only run the system. I hope he was cheap.

Now that Sloan got his way on Price. Don't over pay Millsap and kill the chance to get a real PF and other upgrades later in the year.

Sloan will "continuity" the Jazz to death and kill any chance for a ring.

Make some major trades in Feb and get the right combination of players for the right price and contend.

Resign Millsap and blow the Boozer trade and doom the Jazz to mediocrity (continuity).
Jazzman 101 | 3:31 p.m. July 14, 2009
Heck Yes.... Im glad the Jazz did this move, Price is a TRUE back-up point guard, and Sloan HOPEFULLY will play Price more this year. Also Jazz need to get rid of Knight, he wasent a great player, and had a lot of turnovers. Get rid of Boozer, Knight, and get Rip Hamilton from Detroit, and Glen Davis AKA Big Baby Davis from Boston, he probably wants out of Boston due to the fact he probably wont get much playing time because of the signing of Wallace.
todd from santa ana | 3:31 p.m. July 14, 2009
I am cool on this because we all screamed for Ron to play last year. I hope Krueger is at least kept for Flash and to be called up if someone goes down because "he can really shoot"
Whatever.. | 3:39 p.m. July 14, 2009
I hope Maynor gets good minutes! I'm happy for Price I guess, I would hope between the two guys they can hold down a backup PG position for 10-15 minutes a game. I've wondered with many of the guys we've had the last few years though. Whatever, just as long as the Jazz never let D-Will go!

WISE MAN | 4:03 p.m. July 14, 2009
Finally, a smart move by the Jazzzzzzzzz. A great person, hardworking. I speak for myself when I say nicely done.
odogtriever | 4:03 p.m. July 14, 2009
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donald | 4:07 p.m. July 14, 2009
Good move. We need some more energy bunnies.

Shaybo | 4:12 p.m. July 14, 2009
Finally the Jazz did something I agree with. Price is a Jazz man all the way, it will be nice having someone who wants to be here, when Millsap signed the Portland offer sheet knowing it would be hard for the Jazz to match he showed me he doesn't really want to be here. Give it up MILES, Kruger is not an NBA caliber player.
Ronnie Price | 4:22 p.m. July 14, 2009
Coach better play me, I'm ready to go and paid!
I have improved my hops to 42 inch vertical my jump shot is aight I guess...Lets freakin do this!!!!
Krueger | 4:25 p.m. July 14, 2009
You can only play 2 years in the NBDL so he is not eligable to play there this year I believe. I would rather have Price anyway.
@kruger | 4:35 p.m. July 14, 2009
I think that only applies to player that are on an NBA roster.
Anonymous | 4:42 p.m. July 14, 2009
Price is a stud, hopefully Sloan learns how to play to his talents instead of couping him up in the the 1/2 court offense and benching him for being fast and energetic! Krueger looks good also, too bad they cant take him in place of Eric M. the new rookie although hopefully the rookie will get better with time.
Any of you | 4:43 p.m. July 14, 2009
that think krueger is going to be on the team, are really stretching out on the limb. Not going to happen. "Flash" is his max.
No brainer | 4:45 p.m. July 14, 2009
The fact of the matter is the Jazz always carry three point guards. Adding two fresh, brand new backups is foolish. Brevin Knight has little left to offer; Price has amazing potential and is a low risk investment. Probably the easiest decision for the Jazz to make this offseason.
Deth | 4:58 p.m. July 14, 2009
Can we please stop the Krueger talk?

I sure hope Jerry can realize the R.Price is a combo guard and use him like that. If they are smart - both Maynor and Price will get a lot of minutes at 1 and 2.
Price is pure Jazz! | 5:01 p.m. July 14, 2009
The Jazz finally went with a positive. He's fun to watch, coachable, loyal, wants to play here and goes at 100% every game. Win or lose, he's earned the spot. Now, lets cut-bait with the Booz.
homeytennis | 5:03 p.m. July 14, 2009
As long as he is not property of the Jazz Kruger can play in the DLeague until he's 55.
This is why! | 5:09 p.m. July 14, 2009
you guys will never win a NBA chanpionship! by signing guys like this. Who cares about his work ethic and attitude. IS he a legit NBA player? NO will he be? NO! You jazz fans want it all. you want all the championships and the hard working blue collar players. Welcome to reality.
10 reasons | 5:10 p.m. July 14, 2009
Ten reasons why this is a good move:

1. He's relatively inexpensive
2. He's a fan favorite
3. He gives the Jazz much-needed athleticism
4. He knows the system
5. He has a lot of potential, but hasn't fully lived up to it either because of playing time or being in a shooting slump
6. He's a good guy, and could help with potential locker room issues
7. He wants to be here
8. He's hungry to prove he deserves more minutes
9. He's a pretty good defender on a team that really lacks defense
10. It's only a one-year deal so it's not very risky.
good good | 5:15 p.m. July 14, 2009
He has my respect after the final game of last season. He never gave up, and proved he has more to offer. Hopefully he can bring that energy and same attitude this season on a consistant basis.
Deal Local Sports Talk Hosts | 5:26 p.m. July 14, 2009
Jerry Sloan and Kevin O'Connor consistently have said they want Ronnie Price back, and that the Jazz will continue to carry three point guards.

I've heard several of you state that Ronnie Price will not be coming back to the Jazz because 1) they will only carry two point guards, and 2) the Jazz drafted a point guard, Eric Maynor.

On draft night, Sloan said that Maynor will have a great opportunity to learn behind Deron Williams and Ronnie Price.

Making these statements that are opposite of what Sloan and O'Connor are saying ruins your credibility. This causes people like me to tune out. Sometimes you need to listen to the experts, and, no, you guys are not the experts.
Jazzy | 5:53 p.m. July 14, 2009
I love it! Ronnie is a pit bull and is fearless. He also keeps a pretty good pace when Deron's out. I believe he's capable of greatness. Just me...
MAO VANCOUVER  | 6:00 p.m. July 14, 2009
GREAT NEWS NOW RONNIE WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SLAM THE BALL DOWN BOOZER THE LOOZERS THROUT AGAIN LIKE HE DID IN SACRAMENTO HEHE!
Thank You  | 6:09 p.m. July 14, 2009
For the post about dealing the local sports talk show hosts. When talking about dealing and trading, the media for the most part should be the first to go. Let them all host in foreign countries for a few years first. The Babble from those people and rumours they get started are just downright boring and idiotic. Let's try dealing with facts for a change.
Dump Maynor! | 6:34 p.m. July 14, 2009
Good move, now that Price is on board as William's backup the Jazz can dump future Flash point guard Maynor. Maybe we can bundle him with Boozer to get a player we can actually use. The Jazz can get a decent #3 PG for a lot less than they will be wasting on Maynor.
Anonymous | 6:34 p.m. July 14, 2009
I think this time Price will be the full time back-up of D-will, Price had proven himself to be effective already in the past, while Maynor has yet to be seen, I think Sloan will play both Maynor and D-Will at the same time when they play a zone defense, Sloan have done that before, playing two natural point at the same time
Sloaner | 6:40 p.m. July 14, 2009
Since the Jazz signed him I sure hope Jerry will actually play him!
The Kruge | 6:52 p.m. July 14, 2009
For all those people that think Kruger is a Flash player at best obviously don't know he has already had stints in the NBA.
Who | 7:09 p.m. July 14, 2009
Is it hockey season yet?
CJ3 | 7:15 p.m. July 14, 2009
I have to board the RP bandwagon along with Sloan and KFAN's Locke.

I was wrong about the kid, too.

However, he is not a "TRUE" point guard. Miles is right...I'd prefer him to get his minutes at the 2-spot.

That said, he will most likely be the backup PG until Maynor is polished.

There is also the fact that CJ Miles has been working on his PG skills. He handles the ball well, can stick the perimeter shot, and would cause countless matchup problems for opposing second-team PG's.
great news!!!!! | 7:47 p.m. July 14, 2009
He's an excellent player with a great attitude. Thanks Jazz
Ballin | 8:19 p.m. July 14, 2009
Whenever I think of Ronnie Price I think of the last game the Jazz played and even though we were losing, Ronnie got some quality minutes at the end and showed everyone what he was capable of and the image still replays in my mind of him dunking on the Lakers and then taunting Derek Fisher. That was.....awesome!! Now if he can just work on his jumpshot he will be an excellent backup. Have to wait to see Maynor is real NBA regular season game a few times before passing judgement on him. It might take Maynor some time to learn Jerry's system. This pretty much signifies the end hopefully of Brevin "time to retire" Knight. never quite figured out why Knight played so much more than Ronnie.
Brevin Knight | 8:30 p.m. July 14, 2009
Brevin Knight is 5'11" and Jarron Collins was 6'11" What they have in common? Neither can touch the rim and Sloan loved them both!
jbra80 | 9:13 p.m. July 14, 2009
Great move! Subtle but great. You don't need a backup PG to come in and run the show, you need a change of pace type of player and thats exactly what he is. He hustles as much as any other player, he plays aggressive D, and is a great guy off the court. I agree that he should get some 2 guard minutes as well as primary backup PG minutes.

I can already see it now...He catches a pass on the baseline, goes hard to the basket, elevates and gets another dunk of the year over the new Bull, Carlos Boozer.
MONEY | 9:18 p.m. July 14, 2009
If I had any discretionary money, I would pay to watch PRICE. I love the guys effort.

It's too bad the NBA is filled with 4 minute wonders. They play hard for the last 4 minutes of the game only if the game is close.
Miles | 9:19 p.m. July 14, 2009
Does anyone think that Price is going to all the sudden be a better player? Why do we sign a guy who didn't even play after Dwill came back? One reason......Money. This signing is a waste of paper. Should have went in a different direction and tried someone new. Looks like Kevin is NOT trying to improve the team.
MG | 9:42 p.m. July 14, 2009
It just cracks me up how so many of you are so knowledgeable and are the most wonderful armchair coaches in the world!!! I just hope the best for the Jazz, and I think they try to do the best they can in the situations presented to them.
The reason Knight played | 9:59 p.m. July 14, 2009
is because he knew how to run a team. Unfortunately he could not shoot and teams sagged off. Price on the other hand had several bad games running the team and shooting when DWill was out.

Price is back. I just hope he has figured out how to run the team. About every 5th game he had a good game where he made good decisions and also shot decently.

Don't expect much from Maynor for a year. It will take him time to learn the system and adjust to the speed of the NBA game.

Since Price is a one year contract he can be traded anytime this year if he is not doing well.

I hope he does well. Sloan will insist on playing him even if he does poorly. I am not into losing games while Sloan tries to teach Price how to be a PG.

I don't care what name is on the jersey or where they went to college. I care about winning games. It is about production not hard work or being a nice guy.

Price has to produce or he and Sloan are hurting the team, just like Collins hurt the team.
CJ3 | 10:07 p.m. July 14, 2009
MG...MG...

Doesn't ring any bells...

Any of you fellow armchair coaches know this cat? ;-)

I'm sure we all share your sentiments, good sir.
The Jazz'll be alright, as they always are.

todd to miles | 10:13 p.m. July 14, 2009
I hear you. However, do not group this with lack of moves. We just need to find consistent backup minutes for DWIL, I think Price will be fine, he is hungry and will improve. I think you are upset because you would like to see CJ get time. I would rather he continues to work on his game during the summer and focus on being better#3. I appreciate where you are coming from, but even I am ok with this., all of us who wanted Price to play we would be hypocrites if he was moved, then we would say it is what Jerry wanted all along as did not play much last year. The game I saw at Staples he was outstanding he needs confidence (CLippers game 1st week of season).

My main thing is better interior defense and maybe one more solid scorer off the bench. That is why I wanted Krueg...
Basketball Mom | 10:22 p.m. July 14, 2009
Now if only Sloan will use him!!!!
joey | 10:58 p.m. July 14, 2009
it seems the jazz are considering matching portlands offer to millsap. with that kind of money, why not offer it to lamar odom? with odom's skills and athleticism 8-10 million a year is worth it. odom is wayyyy more talented than millsap.
jazzman72 | 11:46 p.m. July 14, 2009
Glad to have Ronnie back! We need to bottle his energy and heart and give some to the rest of the team!
Tough | 11:53 p.m. July 14, 2009
Price was the only one who dared stand up to the Lakers and not take their trash. All the while Boozer, Kirelenko, and Okur turned red with their tails between their legs afraid of a little confontation. Sloan hit the nail on the head when he said the Jazz needed toughness. Ronnie is tough and can bring that to a Jazz team that has no leadership and no toughness
anonymous | 6:43 a.m. July 15, 2009
i heard that there is possibility that the HEAT sign ODOM and get BOOOZER via a S&T~~anyone confirm this talk~? i HOPE it is TRUE!!!!!!
CJ3 | 7:30 a.m. July 15, 2009
Joey, the Jazz can only offer the MLE, about 5.5 to Odom. An S and T is possible though. Interesting.

Tough, Boozer had a 20/20 vs LA. No other player, even Mr 20/20, Dwight Howard, couldn't do that to the Lakers. He also held Pau Gasol to 9 pts one game...until he was benched in the 4th, when Gasol blew up in the final minutes.
