What is wrong with people? | 12:07 p.m. July 10, 2009
i know the guy is a dirtbag and all and should be punished, but why aren't these kids being held accountable even a little bit?? A 16 and 17 year-old girl (or boy) should be able to have some self-control and a basic understanding of sexual morals. When I was 16 I would have been appalled and uncomfortable with sexual advances from a teacher. I never would have gone with it. Forcible rape is one thing and is one-sided in its guilt, but having relationships is definitely two-sided, especially if the child is over the age of 12 or 13. Why aren't you parents teaching your kids how to say no to adults (and other kids)??!

teachers are held at a higher standard! teenagers make wrong choices at times but this was not even a choice that they should have been given!

there a plenty of them out there so parents teach your children well...another of the deadly sins comes forth , wonder who will be next. This state has gotten a reputation as a sexually frustrated state!

If he was a seminary teacher, you'd all be blaming the victim!

apparently they haven't done a proper investigation yet, since it's "ongoing", and the original charges have been withdrawn and filed as something else.

apparently the millard county sheriff's department is inept! nothing should have been filed at all until the investigation was complete, and warrented filing anything!

Victim is as Victim does. The problem is the age of the Minor Child. Weather the Minor consented or Not does Not matter because the Minor was to young to say Yes or No. The Law says No and that is that.

The Law is very age specific and is that way for a reason.

After 18 everyone is legal and can do what they want. Pressures of polite society not with standing.

At 42 and 26 my wife and I caught some looks and comments. Not so much now at 63 and 47. We had great fun regardless. I have been called my kids Grandfather many times. Mostly when they where younger.

That one of the Reasons I live in Hawaii. Cultural Acceptance.

Everyone is entitled to their day in Court and they are innocent until convicted.

The problem when you discover that pillars of the community have dirty Harddrives. Is that it effects the belief of the weak. If the strong fall, what hope have I?

I do not think that the desire has always been there and age and perhaps personal problems cause a person to finally act on the desires.

Things sometimes go to far.

To the 3:37 commentator,
Actually the 12:07 commentator was doing a lot more blaming the victim than occured in the Lone Peak High School case, so I think you just have an ax to grind.

Everyone here blames the victim over the teacher in these cases...regardless of if the student stripped down and threw himself or herself at the teacher, when you are an adult in a position of trust, you have the obligation and duty to walk away...if they cannot withstand temptation, they better go try and get a job throwing freight at walmart or something where they are not in a position of trust. It is never the child's fault, ever!! Let's start putting teacher's to a higher standard or fire them.

I am shocked that this teacher and leader is the same person I knew when he taught me. I feel sorry for the victim and for the accused family they are victims here too.
