The "new" GM will never be profitable because the bankruptcy failed to address the main reason for GM's unprofitability: The United Auto Workers.

GM will constantly need new infusions of cash because it is being run by two entities who have no motive to cut costs: The federal government and the UAW.

GM is now "Government Motors", and it will function about as efficiently as the government does.

Now that GM is on a level playing field with the foreign competitors (without the retiree and union handicaps), I hope it shows them that American engineers and workers can beat any in the world.

It is now a government run company. Say good bye to innovations and hard work, say hello to typical government waste. They will never compete in the auto industry again.
