Utah Utes football: Utes catch couple of receivers

This article was posted a long time ago. If this article was about BYU, there would have been 100 anti-BYU posts by now claiming the recruits were unproven and nobody else wanted them so getting them is irrelevant.

Interesting that not a single post has been made praising the Utes for their recruiting coup.

I guess this just proves the frequent allegation on BYU articles that Utah fans care more about BYU than Utah.

Nice pick up utes!

The difference with Utah and YBU recruits is Utah's recruits don't hire PR reps and hold press conferences in SLC and proclaim how they will win a NC. Utah goes about its bussiness with class. You zoobs can all get through this year with 5 losses by "looking forward" to a QB that won't step on the feild until he is 21 and half bald (typical of byu players). Utah fans KNOW that your QB will not be any better than an average BYU QB. You all are dilusional, that is why Utah fans, and most other fans of college football DO NOT LIKE YOU. You are all arrogant, self righteous, and DILLUSIONAL....Period. GO UTES

this article was posted like today. we just received those recruits. and how ironic that cougar fan was the first to post on it
Re: sierra blue | 11:24 a.m. July 10, 2009
i am a byu fan but the fact that you were the first post on the article does not help our case.

also byu fans aren't the only ones who are delusional, there are plenty of ute fans who deny reality.
Nice Work Utah! | 11:52 a.m. July 10, 2009
I was kind of hoping to see their names were "Brigham Young" and "Thomas Monson", they would have played well alongside Joseph Smith. lol!

Hey, Nice Work Utah!

Great comment!! I'm a devout BYU fan but your comment made me chuckle out loud.

It is nice to see Kyle land a couple of promising recruits.

"The difference with Utah and YBU recruits is Utah's recruits don't hire PR reps and hold press conferences in SLC and proclaim how they will win a NC."

If you ask me... That's genius! It's legal and legit(I bet you will see this taking over nation wide). Too bad non of your 10 2-star recruits for 2010 has done that yet. Heaps, Apo, and Stout have done more recruiting than what any other coach could ever do. Even your precious pot belly Wittingham can't recruit like them.

Both of these guys are 4-star recruits according to rivals. So much for the "Utah has ten 2-star recruits" comment above. It doesn't matter though. What's important is what happens on the field. Y-ners were all excited about the early high ranking of their 2009 class, because as usual they offered early and often. Once the other teams offer all of their scholarships, however, BYU takes it's usual place in the 50s or 60s. Actually BYU had one of their best years for 2009 with a ranking of 50. Utah and TCU were, of course, ahead of BYU. Still, these early rankings just don't matter. Witt has shown that Utah goes after athletes first, and specific positions second. Rivals call Dres Anderson one of the biggest high school stars in SoCal. Witt, however, might turn him into a corner, or a safety, or a running back, or a linebacker. The point is that claiming victory this time of year is hollow. Please BYU, do something worthwhile, and actually beat a great team - Oklahoma. Stop all of the talk and just win. I will be a huge Cougar fan that night.

Its a good thing YBU has Heaps, Apo, and Stout to use as recruiting power because we all know your cardboard cut-out coach can't recruit using football as the 5th priority... And typical YBU fan putting too much trust in a grading system that hardly ever pans out as it should. Let me know in 4-6 years how your 4 star recruits are doing. I'll probably need a new cell phone by then so maybe i can use one(or all) of their service(s).

"Please BYU, do something worthwhile, and actually beat a great team - Oklahoma."

Those are words that can finally be spoken by U fans. Those really couldn't be spoken until 2001ish. And USC wasn't even that great.

Scout's has these two recruits at 3-stars AND not 4 like Rivals. So depending on where you look, you'll get your answer.

Posted a long time ago...dude, what are you on? It's dated July 10th. That would be, ah...well...today.

Thanks for stopping by though.

I hope you realize that implicit in your post is an admission that BYU fans are delusional. I thank you for your forthrightness and honesty.

Well...that's certainly a true statement! Brilliant!!

Yes, I'm rooting for the Y against OK also. Any win by MWC over BCS benefits us all (Thanks Wyo!).

Come the end of November (as we were hoping last year), it would be just great to have both the U and the Y highly ranked, to catapult the winner into the BCS.

The difference I see between the U and the Y with their atheletes is that the U seems to DEVELOP talent, or to help it grow and mature. Take Kreuger, B. Johnson, and Alex Smith for examples. I think the Y gets players who are initially as good, but for some reason they haven't turned into great players lately like they used to (Young, McMahon, Detmer come to mind).

Remember: 48-24, and GOOOOOOO UTES!!!!!
Re: I like Mike | 10:13 p.m. July 10, 2009
Another difference is the U actually BEATS their ranked and BCS opponents. They "why?" is simply satisfied with just being on the same field with them. By scheduling Oklahoma, they've already declared a moral victory. They know they're going to lose in an embarrassing blow out fashion, so they're doing all their celebrating now.

"We're so awesome because Oklahoma scheduled us for their season opener; just like Tennessee-Chattanooga, North Texas, Indiana St, and Bowling Green in recent years past."

"An 0-1 record to start the season after being annihilated by the Sooners is WAY more prestigious than finishing 13-0 by beating a 4th-ranked 12-1 Alabama team in the Sugar Bowl"

"4 MWC championships with no BCS bowls, and a 2-4 postseason record is WAY more satisfying and consistent than 4 MWC championships with 2 BCS bowls, and an 8-0 postseason record"

Go zoobs!

Welcome to the Utes Boys! Wynn and you guys are going to own it in a couple years! And we'll be owning it until then!
Boise State Fan | 11:43 p.m. July 10, 2009
Both of these players were looking at BS!!!

It's too bad that the Utes are going to have a DOWN year 2010.

Oh well, BS will crack into the BIG time again!
Talk like a Ute | 11:47 p.m. July 10, 2009
Go Utes! Looks like the tdn are shaping up to have better than MUSS prospects. Go Mafu!

Don't worry red--cr-utes. U will learn the lingo soon enough so ute can be cool like your fans.

Zooby-dooby-doo!

Re: 6:54 p.m. | 3:31 a.m. July 11, 2009
Actually yes certain of our fans are delusional with unrealistic expectations, but the same type of fans exist for the Utes.

It's refreshing to hear logical, level headed fans who can read into and analyze the possibilities for the season rather than the rivalry drivel that gets driven into the ground over and over again.
Once again | 2:01 p.m. July 11, 2009
It looks like the utes got some good kids that are great athletes. speed and athleticism seem to be playing a larger and larger role in D1 football
fyi | 3:03 p.m. July 11, 2009
most recruits are not rated until midway through their senoir season unless they are being rated off of summer camps or were exceptional as sophmores or juniors. Ute and Cougar fans need to relax. To talk about the #13 class is beyond rediculous when most schools have not offered half of their allotment.
Jake Heaps | 9:22 p.m. July 11, 2009
We got a recruit!!! Lets celebrate with a press conference at Iggys!!!! Call up the 17 year old kids publicists to announce to the state!!!!
bYu fans | 11:47 p.m. July 11, 2009
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH BWAHAHAHAHAH. Add two more recievers to an already talented group. These two guys are 4-star recruits. Utah had better call all the news channels and hold a press conference!!!! Oh wait, the Utes have better things to hold press conferences for like two BCS bowl wins, longest bowl winning streak in the country, longest winning streak in the country. But hey, until y'all can beat a decent team what the heck, celebrate your QB who will not even hit the feild for 3 years. Yay!!!!The U defense is impenatrable, atheltic, fast (sugar bowl color anaylist: Wow, these guys are really flying around. ALABAMA can not deal with Utah Speed), arrogant (this is a good thing), 3 and out D, fresh, and ready to punch you in the mouth.

Hey, how that HAKA treating you???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHH. You have to admit it was hilarious seeing a bunch of white guys making fools out of themselves.

But heay lets keep it real. We will not know how good these recruits will be for at least 3 years, when we get to see them play.

Hey do you guys think U could play decent against OK for the confernecs? NO
BYU Fan | 1:06 p.m. July 17, 2009
I went to the game last year at the U and Im not going to lie, the U's defense was way impressive. I was definitely surprised and eventually pretty embarrassed for BYU when I left the game. The Ute team was good, the Ute fans, although, were not.

Can you say crazed animals dressed in red? Ive never been sworn at, screamed at, and threatened more in my life. I thought someone was going to pull a knife on me and kill me right there just for having a blue t-shirt on. Rivalrys are fun but this was way out a hand. Lets keep this strictly football and not bash religions, the players who go and serve the Lord for two years, and threaten each others lives just because we have blue on instead of red. The U is going to be good this year especially with these recruits but come the game in November, anything can happen.

Just remember: This is a GAME, not an animal against animal. Whomever wins doesn't ACTUALLY slaughter and kill the other team and their fans, as much as most Utah fans like to believe...

GO COUGS!!
