I am thinking that school employees should also get swine flu shots.

start going off on swine flu being nothing, just note, that although lacking the media hype right now, go to an ICU and you'll see previously healthy 30 year old males on ventilators. I'm an RN in an ICU. You would be shocked how many swine flu patients are dying right now.

Utah's crowded classrooms are breeding grounds for all kinds of diseases.

Teachers, you're right. School staff needs vaccinations. Parents should be prepared if many teachers and substitute teachers are ill.

RN, between you and the article, you've got me properly scared.

My choice!  | 3:52 p.m. July 10, 2009
It's not the governments job to ensure that my children are vaccinated, at school, of all places. I don't plan on getting myself or my children vaccinated. Hello people---we have no idea what the government has cooked up in the form of "vaccination." I don't trust our government one bit. I think they are ALL crazy. People don't think anymore for themselves, they just get in line and say "oh, pick me, give me whatever, I don't care."

It's my choice. I personally enjoy my freedom to choose what is best for me and my family. For the rest of you who love Obama and who think that everything should be government regulated, then I am sure you love socialism too. That is where we are headed. Democracy is slowly being killed and will be dead soon. I enjoy making my own choices. We have been fine without the regular flu shot (which by the way kills WAY more people every year than the swine flu)and I am sure that we will be fine without the swine flu shot too.

Think people, you are smart! The government will tell you otherwise, though.

and exactly how are we going to pay for all this, Mister Obama? (along with everything else you're charging to our country's account . . . )

The swine flu knows no political party. If you read the article you would know this is a worldwide pandemic, with the young and ill more vulnerable.

This is a time when we all must pull together, and not just think only of our own little family or tribe.

It was not that long ago that all vaccinations were given during school. Of course, we needed to have parent's permission to administer the vaccines. You will still have the choice as to whether your children are vaccinated, but this will be a chance for the children of parents who choose to vaccinate their children.
Reality Check | 12:04 a.m. July 11, 2009
It's amazing how quickly society is willing to vaccinate it's children with an unproven, untested vaccine. Back in 1976 a swine flu vaccine was hurriedly rushed to the market, due to fear and hysteria, and ended up killing 300 and causing severe neurological damage in another 4000 before it was pulled from the market. And it was the adults they used as guinea pigs that time around. Today you don't have the legal recourse against the vaccine manufacturers that you did back in the 1970's.

What gives me even more pause is the study that came out from the Mayo clinic on May 20, 2009. In their 8 year study, children who received the flu vaccine were 3 times more likely to be hospitalized with the flu, especially those with asthma. Missed it? Google "flu vaccine mayo clinic may 20."

I hope that in our haste to "save the world" we don't end up inadvertently creating a disaster with our own children.

To be in fear is to be uneducated about the situation. You have a computer... look up ALL information before making judgements. Read all sides, then make up your own mind, don't let others decide for your children.

I had a relative with the swing flu-a normally very healthy little boy. After fighting for his life for over 3 weeks I am happy to report that he is alive, but very weak and on the mend. This is a nasty, nasty disease. We are very lucky to still have him with us. It could have went either way. After seeing what this boy went through, I would encourage every parent to vaccinate if it is available. Avoid this disease any way you can

. . . I did do this, and what I read and saw is definitely frightening. NO ONE in my family will be getting this "vaccine"!I am much more fearful of the vaccine than I am of getting swine flu.

I will be making sure the school knows at the start of school that I expect to be notified days ahead of any vaccination plan at school. Then my children will miss that day and maybe those days surrounding the vaccine day. And my oldest son already knows if they sneak it on them without our knowledge, he is to quickly gather his younger brother and sister and leave the school immediately. Yuck!!!
