Remember when Provo use to be proud of it's diverse business sector. I think the last big box store to court Provo was K-mart and that hasn't exactly went swimmingly. Provo changes zoning at whim and does everything It can to eliminate housing for rentals and kills any and all chances for it to become a normal city. Just my 2 cents.

Has anyone seen what has happened in Lehi, Saratoga Springs, and Eagle Mountain over the last 10 years? Lots of growth, lots of development, much bigger tax base. We're even beginning to see some ease and convenience out there. The big key for them was open spaces. Their big drawback has been access and distance from things to do.

Provo is right in the middle of it all. Schools, businesses, jobs--it could be great. Our big drawback is this antequated, backwards city coucil and mayor strangling our local development and economy. Also they have hampered any decent access to or through downtown.

The best way to revitalize downtown is knock it down, pave it, and start over.

in downtown Provo include the plasma centers, tatt parlors and payday lenders. The Covey Center for the Arts has a payday lender as a sponsor....
Good grief...... So where does the council want to put the seedy businesses that support them? On the west side next to the newly available land along the freeway that Provo is going to gain from the new interchange?

Good ideas for Provo's downtown area. The State Ombdudsman is also a great idea. He told Provo that it had to abide by the law, and that is what sparked these changes.

I'm glad the state has an ombudman to fight for citizens rights.

of all you Provo citizens and your short-minded, short-sighted lives. The State Ombudsman in this case stepped outside of his bounds of authority in this case (read the article, it is online); but why do I expect ANYONE from Provo to actually read into something that is affecting their community? No, rather you will just sit in your corner and talk about conspiracy and 'illegal' actions against your community that the evil council and mayor are plotting against you. Grow up, get a brain, and start looking deeper into your community rather than into your tinfoil hats. If the council had been doing something illegal, then I guess the Supreme Court of Utah would have substantiated the lawsuits that have been filed against them. But I guess all of you numbskulls are too dense to look into that, too.

Not all provo residents are short-minded... just some of them lol. Take your own advice and grow a brain.
