White House among targets of sweeping cyber attack

"A widespread computer attack that began July 4 knocked out the Web sites of the Treasury Department, the Secret Service and other U.S. agencies, and South Korean government sites also came under assault.

South Korean intelligence officials believe the attacks were carried out by North Korean or pro-Pyongyang forces."

Well, gee, ya think? Let's see, Communist North Korea has been tooting its horn to the US about their national rights for a couple of months now - while making nuclear weapons to aim at others - and demands that the sanctions recently imposed by the US and others are an act of war and that they will retaliate. Meanwhile, the other country to get hit is their mortal enemy, free and non-communist South Korea. Do we think that just possibly there is a tie to the communists?!?!?

Or maybe it was us religious extreme right-wingers. You know how much we hate South Korea and our own country. Yeah, and all the rest of those crazy democratic nations. Too bad it took Homeland Security so long to catch on to us. (SARCASM, just so everyone knows ...)

North Korea suspected??? Gee, do you think? These guys are going to become a SERIOUS THREAT because Obama isn't going to do anything! The Man Is A COWARD! He could sell a ketchup Popsicle to woman in white gloves! So far he has!!! Looks like he may do it again in the form of a "Second Stimulus Package"! And Again in a Nationalized Health Care Plan, And Again in Disarming our country's Nuclear capabilities, and again, and again! Buyer BE WARE!!!

I sure hope North Korea knows what it's getting itself into. They're fierce but puny...the U.S. could waste them in a heartbeat (if we had the intestinal fortitude to actually act).

Another apology tour is called for. We should apologize for being the beacon of freedom in the world, apologize for actually having a secure computer system in the White House, apologize for telling North Korea that they should quit building nuclear plants for weapons, apologize for being apologetic. In short, it must be our fault for everything.

Yup, President Obama needs to apologize again, that will fix everything. NOT!!!!

Isn't it time to be prepared for the nuclear holocaust that N. Korea is about to spring into action?? It's bigger than any media circus can imagine. Ask a soldier stationed in S. Korea.

Perhaps the liberals will blame this on Bush, too.

Since you mentioned it, Bush's policies and actions with regards to North Korea were one of his innumerable failings during his attempt to pretend to be president. But North Korea probably isn't in his top ten worst.

Yes we could, but one needs to remember what happened the last time we were about to complete that objective... The Chinese took umbrage and they are not so "puny" and now much stronger than they were in the 50s. Where you see a lack of fortitude, I see wisdom.

I agree with your re: 9:58 comment, though I disagree with your assessment of President Bush.

North Korea has a comparatively large army and puts a huge amount of its resources into the army. They are as determined as the Taliban, but are much better organized with more resources. No to mention their alliances with China and (somewhat) Russia.

Attacking NK will be much more difficult than attacking Iraq or Afghanistan.
