I noticed that also at a hotel we stayed in. We work in the DC temple once a month and share a temple apartment with other couples (we go at different times so there's always one couple in the apartment. Well when we leave the apartment, after we have cleaned up, I leave the toilet paper in a little point.:)

I Live in a FUN Home | 9:40 p.m. July 5, 2009
I live in a funeral home (rent free) in exchange for working there. As part of my duties I maintain the cleanliness of the restrooms. The funeral home owner instructed me to fold the toilet paper into a point when I was done cleaning. I do it as a sign that I've done it, and that's the only reason, otherwise I could care less, but I'm sure my boss does. Like the author said, I guess it's a way of lifting someone else's chin.

So glad someone folded your toilet-paper!

I also know the joy of bumping around in the back of an un-conditioned station wagon for 16 hours in the middle of summer. We however rarely stayed at the very cool Motel 6. We locked the doors at the rest stop. Back when they use to offer free coffee and hot chocolate in the mornings. Yes, at the rest stop. They did not however, fold the toilet paper in those bathrooms. I feel so un-fulfilled.

The Housekeeping staff does this in hopes of obtaining tips from guests. Hope you left them a tip!

I LAUGH! Loved your column. I use to clean houses and I always left pointy TP! I'm going to send your column to the women I worked for. I point my TP, at home, every time I clean. Just the other day my 2½ year old Granddaughter asked me why I did that. I had to think why- finally I said it makes the bathroom look nice when I'm through cleaning. Now I realize I was just "puttin' on the Ritz" °Ü°

I comedian I recently heard does the same thing as Rae, but to mess with the housekeepers' minds--leaving them with the impression that he has never used the toilet paper during the whole stay...

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
