He is entitled to believe what ever it is he believes. If he's not breaking the law or hurting other people he has that right. However in this case, it appears that he has some questionable behavior which may cause him some problems.

I believe Stevenson's allegations. The most heinous and incredible of crimes are typically denied, ridiculed and very carefully covered up, without a trace.

The perpetrators, who know perfectly well right from wrong, might even say things such as, "I would never allow such a thing."

Remember that while the kid was not forthcoming with information, he also barked like a dog.
