Transmission line gets judge's OK

The City of Willard should inform the power company that before a permanent
permit authorizing construction of the transmission line is granted, the plans
for the project need to be amended to require the lines be buried underground.
In 2009, with the availability of high technology super-conductor underground
transmission lines, the only reason power companies still cling to the
1930's technology of perching lines on poles in the air is their cheaper
cost. The fire danger from aerial power lines has also been proven to be a
significant factor in many municipalities now mandating underground lines in
their cities. It will surely cost the power company more to bury the lines, but
in this modern era, it's the correct way.
