i don't know, but probably not as much who would vote against him just because of the same fact, and definitly not as many as blacks who voted for obama just because he was black.

Mitt Romney is a losing candidate for a losing party.
Why? | 10:02 a.m. July 7, 2009
Why do so many liberals come on here lamenting about the "real issues" and how the GOP is ignoring them, while offering no solutions themselves?

What IS the liberal/Democratic answer for health care? To throw the costs on the backs of small businesses and taxpayers? How about global warming? How about our national defense?

What is the liberal/Democratic foreign policy?

All is see is stone throwing from the left with no real answers.

Here's one pretty easy tip - continuing to pile it on the handful of productive people playing by the rules to the benefit of those who were on the dole in even the BEST economic times is not the answer.

"Why do so many liberals come on here lamenting about the "real issues" and how the GOP is ignoring them, while offering no solutions themselves?"

Go back to hibernating. The party of NO is not in power its the party of change. You might not like it but the people have spoken and that is why the Dems rule the House, Senate, and WH. You had your chance when you had total power and you left the country in a mess while Clinton left a surplus.

"continuing to pile it on the handful of productive people playing by the rules"

Which deregulated financial institution are you talking about? Citibank, AIG, BofA, etc?
re: Re: Why? | 12:52 a.m. July 8, 2009
Clinton left a bubble about to burst with the dotcom economy along with a time-bomb that resulted in 9-11, courtesy of his "head in the sand" foreign policy.

And you can't be serious about the deregulated financial institution comment, can you? Do the names of Chris Dodd and Barney Frank ring any bells? These two crooks have chaired the banking and finance committees for the past 2 years and took tons of campaign money from Freddie, Fannie, etc. to "look the other way." How these two aren't in prison is a travesty of justice.

A little introspection would help you a great deal if you want to come on here and debate the issues.

Unfair media will have nothing to do with a Mormon not getting elected as president. Mormons themselves are to blame with their words and actions. Their "religion" is generally percieved as a cult and not to be trusted. Mormon history is what colors this perception and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Just a clarification for all of those out-of-state posters who keep trying to paint Utah as a bunch of out-of-touch hicks too stupid to vote for Obama.

MILLIONS of people around the country voted for someone other than Obama. There are more people who voted for McCain living in California than the entire population of Utah. If you liberals think Utah is your biggest problem, keep on drinking the Kool-Aid.

And to "RE: GK from England," the Mormon Church is not generally perceived to be a cult - that is the opinion of a very small number of ex-Mormons and a handful of anti-Mormons. Mormon history has nothing to do with it as I doubt even 5,000 people outside the church know anything at all about Mormon History. Drudging up journals from old enemies of the church with an axe to grind and counterfeiting other "documents" has convinced only those willing to believe anything to discredit the Church. It's a waste of time. You don't have to like the Church but why spend so much time and effort trying to trump up some old stories that no one can prove/disprove?

To In Defense of Utah,

you said "the Mormon Church is not generally perceived to be a cult - that is the opinion of a very small number of ex-Mormons and a handful of anti-Mormons."

You are extremely out of touch! Mainstream Christian Churches regularly teach about the dangers of the "cult" of Mormonism. Sociologists and psychologists publish research in mainstream journals warning readers of the dangers of "control organizations" (popularly called "cults"), and the Mormon church is always listed among them. The idea that Mormonism is a cult is far more pervasive than is the idea that it is a benign, "regular" religion.

You need to get out more. You need to get out of Utah more. You need to get an education somewhere other than at BYU, or seminary, or LDS Institute, or LDS Sunday School!
Re: In defense of Utah  | 1:18 p.m. July 8, 2009
You really are out of touch with reality if you believe what you wrote. Mormon history plays a major factor in why the LDS church is generally viewed as a cult. The entire history(not just the good parts) is out there and readily available to those who choose to educate themselves. I recommend the recent PBS two episode special if you don't have access to the internet. It's not everything but it is a good and in my opinion non-biased place to start. For what it's worth I did not post this as an attempt to slam the LDS church. I think the LDS church does do a lot of good things in this world.

I still think Sarah Palin would make a great second wife for Mitt Romney!
