Any criticism of Palin for lack of commitment can be thrown at the prez 10 fold! Never voting on anything as a senator, using the senate as a stepping-stone to the presidency, NO real-life experience (community organizer!...laughs).
I want Palin | 11:58 a.m. July 4, 2009
As a Democrat, I'd love to see a Palin /whoever ticket-- That would equate to a landslide victory for President Obama....
I see Romney as the possible spoiler with his financial background and squeaky clean record..
Wonder if Palin will be eligible if her husband is successful in getting Alaska to leave the Union as the political party he is affiliated with wants done...

LQQK, other then being at a baseball game, far from home, (as David Letterman said), watching it with her younger daughter, while her older daughter was at home, having sex, "SARAH PALIN HAS FAMILY VALUES, there's no dought about that." She would make a better President then "the other Mormon" Mitt Romney who is really a RINO in a sheeps skin that looks like a Family Values Republican. When he's not. Mitt Romney is less then a GOP then Joe Biden is. Fresh off of the planet Klingon. Vice President Joe Biden celebrated the Fourth of July with his son that has a comfort zone job in the shade watching someone's veggie grow 8 hours a day, and other American troops in Iraq that really work, a day after warning Iraqi leaders that U.S. assistance will be jeopardized if the country reverts to ethnic and sectarian violence. Sarah Palin for President 2012. "GREAT CHOICE".

I am active LDS and I don't like Romney, or I guess I don't trut him. In trying to appear moderate he has developed very flexible principles.

I am very interested in ABO - Anybody but Obama,

The republican selections for 2012 are making me feel sick. Romney? Gingrich? Palin? LIMBAUGH!?!?

Whatever happened to statesmen. All we get anymore are politicians...

2012? Did I miss something. It's 2009 right. Plenty can happen between today and tommarrow 2012s. Let's not get three years ahead of ourselves. People.... the focus should be in the now. Let's get it fixed today.
Do you get it or not? | 1:08 p.m. July 4, 2009
We are in a mess because Republicans are the problem, They have strayed way to far out of order.
No One in his right mind will vote against Obama.
Romney and Palin are both losers.
What is it you do not understand ??????????
You only need to look at Utah and the stupid laws they make.
Utah is a criminal run State, The Cops are Riot Police, Call a Cop and you get the SWAT Team to Kill your Husband, Daddy and Bread Winner.
The Cops are a THREAT to the Citizens of Utah, They are spying on the Public, Not Protecting us from Bad Government.
Palin has commitment Mitt don't | 1:12 p.m. July 4, 2009
Brother (Mitt Romney) and Sister (Sarah Palin) are like 2 peas in one pod. Just as McCain's politics are largely shaped by his experience as a prisoner of war and Obama's by his embrace of his racial identity, Palin's approach has been shaped by her relationship with God. Palin sees her government work as paling in comparison to a greater mission. The best and the brightest on the left go into politics. The best on the right run their own businesses. So it is no surprise that the left is far more adept, even expert at the art of hardball politics. And they are telling us something profound. The left is telling us something many feel, many find as a hunch, that Sarah Palin is the most dangerous threat to the Obama administration with no close second. The left is telling us this by their over the top attacks. Not just the Letterman assaults, but the constant barrage of grievances filed against her in Alaska. The attacks every day on Palin for no apparent reason except that the left seems to see her quite differently from any Republican candidate. A difference of kind, not of degree.

Achy Breaky Heart

You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes when I'm gone
Or you can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone

You can tell my arms to go back to the farm
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo

You can tell your ma I moved to Arkansas
Or you can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff who's fist can tell my lips
He never really liked me anyway

pssssssssssssssst, hey Mitt Romney, a true GOP elephant like Sarah Palin never forgets, that mammoth changes are needed for captive GOP elephants in the world's GOP zoos in 2012 for President.

I for one would feel comfortable with a candidate who is strong in character and decision making but not tied into any particular religion. A belief in God is a plus, but it is hard to give the nod to anyone who has strong individual dogma that might be stuffed down other people's throats.

Can you imagine all the fun Stewart, Colbert, Conan, Olbermann, Ferguson, & oh yeah Letterman would have if Sarah were to be President?
Frank Castle | 2:55 p.m. July 4, 2009
Until the GOP can put forth someone from the Reagan/Jack Kemp/Steve Forbes/Ron Paul wing of the party, they will continue to be a joke on the national level.

"Leaders" who look to the likes of Franklin Graham, James Dobson, John Hagee, etc... as "advisors" is a recipe for disaster.

After reading most of these postings, I have to say that I am truly scared for our country. With all of the depravity integrated into our culture it seems that no one is qualified or worthy to hold the office of President. I don't think we will have to worry once we completely become a Socialist/Facist Country. Thank goodness for Glenn Beck.
Subtle digs and pokes in the eye | 3:18 p.m. July 4, 2009
The only thing more annoying than people who start their posts with statements like:"I'm a member of THE LORD's TRUE CHURCH" are that some people actually believe that these posters are legitimate. This is simply a provocative statement meant to fuel people's anger towards a religious group.

These people hate religion so much, or maybe it's just the LDS religion, that they can turn any discussion into an anti-Religion/Mormon slam. This is an article on Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney's political plans. Why the Anti-Religion digs?

To Liberals: | 3:35 p.m. July 4, 2009
Unemployment is a 9.5% thanks to Obama(remember he said "pass the stimulus of a trillion and unemploymehnt will not rise above 8%). Medicade and Medicare going bankrupt and Obama wants to control healthcare for us all. Barney Franks wants to use all the money that is coming in from the fanancial institutions to the government on his pet projects. So, Liberals out there-without trashing Bush: he is out of office and you need to get real: where is this "new dawn of society of freedoms from want and opennesss and prosperity Herr Obama promised?
Dixie Dan | 3:38 p.m. July 4, 2009
The left wing media groups are not Romeny's problem. It is the Evangelicals who control the GOP. They are the group that has consistantly ripped Romney for being a non-Christian, signing the first gay right marriage bill and putting into place the first socialized mandatory health bill in Massachusetts. A Mormon and Evangelical ticket would be almost humerous knowing how they differ on religion.
Great Candidate | 3:41 p.m. July 4, 2009
People don't hate Mormons. They hate what they don't understand. When they meet a Mormon who lives his/her religion, they love them. In the last election Huckabee (I actually liked his policies) spewed such negatism toward Mormonism which a lot of people believed. However, Glenn Beck (a converted Mormon) has won the hearts of millions and they now understand what wonderful people most Mormons are. Mitt Romney could, indeed, win a Presidential election.

Not one mention of the real issues, health care and immigration. Romney said he would enforce immigration laws, somehow actually believing that were possible. Both systems are broken and Republicans have no solutions other than criticism and scare tactics. (see socialized medicine and amnesty.) This country needs real solutions and leadership. Both are sadly lacking in today's political climate. Mean spirited Partisan politics are destroying the GOP. Romney could win if not for the opposition from the brainwashed evangelical's who continue to believe that Mormons are some kind of a cult. The GOP needs to take a lesson from the Sutherland institute who studied immigration and came to the right conclusion. I wish Romney would change his mind on the immigration issue and show some real compassion and leadership like his LDS religion has and bring humanity back into the debate instead of fear and racism.
Let's Talk About McCain | 10:17 p.m. July 4, 2009
In a desperate effort to salvage his sagging campaign McCain picked Sarah Palin as his VP. And did so without really knowing anything about her. How cynical is that? Sarah "I can see Russia from here" Palin damaged McCain's campaign every time she opened her mouth. If McCain had any personal ethics he would apologize from pulling Sarah Palin out from under a rock. As for Romney, he exemplifies the attitude that "the end justifies the means". Never mind, right and wrong. The question is, where does he really stand on the issues? Did I hear "flip-flop?

After reading these comments I realize why the republicans have a bad name and people are leaving the party. Republicans fight among themself. Democrats do not. They tolorate each other and do not find fault with their party. I thought the republicans would learn a lesson from letting Obama get elected. The party did not like anyone who was running. Out of 10 candidates they picked them apart, and kept waiting for the perfect candidate.
Mitt Romney was the most perfect candidate we had. While not perfect he was above McCain. This party better wise up, and stop fighting among yourself, and acting petty. Look at your prospect that may run. Find the best one for the job and unite behind them and fight as though your life depended on it - because it does. You are falling into the same pattern as you did a year ago. History will repeat itself if you are not careful. Conservatives are not alone large enough to elect a president. While they are important, moderates and independents must be won over to win. You think Romney is not conservative enough. I find him as far right as anyone else who ran last year.
Anonymous | 11:25 p.m. July 4, 2009
Utah is the land of like think. In Utah, you are selected for parroting mantras. Utahan lack objectivity. Mitt is every sleazy thing people hear about Mormons. He will say anything to get elected.

Utahans fail to see how bad Mitt makes the Mormon Church look.

Mormons think they have the world fooled. We can see how obsessed LDS leadership is with gaining more political power. You're Judas, reborn through Mitt Romney. We can see through your lie.

re: @SS | 12:07 p.m. July 5, 2009
Cleaning up after 8 years of Republican mess?

Hmmm, let's see - the economy was strong for the first 6 years of GWB. Gosh, what happened in year 7? Oh yeah, the Democrats got control of the house and senate. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd became chairs of the finance committees. Nancy Pelosi became Speaker.

Stop trying to re-write history.

Speaking of cleaning up messes, don't foget GWB cleaning up after Slick Willie, including his awesome foreign policy. How many times was Slick offered the head of Bin Laden on a platter again?

You want to debate, you'd better get your facts straight.

The Democrats have never presided over any period of time where we didn't have a war and/or escalating inflation and unemployment.

The GOP will make major gains in congress in 2010 and could well win back the White House in 2012.
Savant | 12:17 p.m. July 5, 2009
I don't think Palin can win on the national scene, but Mitt has got a strong chance. Even if he loses a close one in 2012, he will win in 2016.

If the economy stays weak, the majority will vote out Obama - whether or not that's fair, that's just how it goes.

Mitt's strong financial background would be a real plus for him.

I don't think there's any chance Romney would choose Palin as a running mate - he saw what happened with McCain and he's too smart to make the same mistake.

I think the whole "evangelical/anti-LDS" thing with Huckabee, etc. is not nearly as strongly as some would have you believe. I think if times remain tough, voters will ignore all of that and vote for the person they think can best reverse the course we're on.
Re: Neil | 12:22 p.m. July 5, 2009
Good points, Neil, but if you took the acronym "GOP" out of your post and changed it to "Democrats," it would ring just as true.

The Democrats have no real solutions either and partisan bickering is just as common in that party.

Both parties must re-invent themselves and stop pandering to the extremes and focus on the rest of us.
Ewwwggggghhhh! | 4:44 p.m. July 5, 2009
How many Mormons in Utah are going to vote for Mitt just because he is Mormon......many, maybe all of them (not me for sure, and I'm LDS) THAT's is how blind LDS+Republican people in Utah are!!!!
If you are a candidate and vote for laws in the defense of the oil industry, guns, war, non clean resources for cars, unregulated market....you win all votes from these people in Utah, look and check the Bush's era.

Mitt is not the messiah of the republican party, they new new blood, not the same salesman type anymore, and Palin....please! what a joke! she doesnt have moral to talk about her own life has failed!!!! not in my country "folksy lady"

//Thank goodness for Glenn Beck.//

Its getting tiring making fun of the usual hatemongers (Rush L, Sean H, Coulter, Savage, etc..)

The only worthwhile Bro Glenn has done is being the 1st to give Jonah Goldberg (author of Liberal Fascism) a wider forum to discuss his ideas.
THE $64,000 Question | 6:59 p.m. July 5, 2009
I'll give Mitt a slight nod over Palin simply because he has real world experience.

Though, if he were any good then why, like Dubya, did he end up in politics?
Romney 2012? | 3:08 a.m. July 6, 2009
I am LDS who was for Romney until he started going after McCain just for the sake of winning in Iowa (which he lost, go figure) AND then he back-pedalled and gave a "faux" speech of McCain support at the convention.

If Romney gets the nom in 2012, then clearly the GOP wants to keep losing elections.
Are You Kidding | 8:19 a.m. July 6, 2009
Romney has not had to mend his image, people are just learning who he is and what he stands for. His problem was an attack from the biased eclesiastical group that was extremely fueled by other candidates that cut him off at the knees. Now people are realizing that Romney's experience and expertise is exactly what we need running our screwed up economy that Bush and Obama have totally blotched! Two idiots have never done a worse job of destroying an economy so quickly along with the band of bozos called the congress.

We have got to think more about the consequences of our voting! Idiots do stupid things. Incumbents love the power and won't rock the boat in Washington. 12 years for a senator is almost too much and 6 years for a representative is plenty. Lobbying should be done in the open and greatly restricted from its present form.

When service is given in Washington, it should be done for a limited time and then that person should return to the private sector. Otherwise an elite class is created that is not accountable to their constitutents that they are supposed to be serving!
Will we ever learn? | 9:25 a.m. July 6, 2009
"We have got to think more about the consequences of our voting! Idiots do stupid things."

Yea, we should have learned from 2000 and 2004.

Both should go away. Neither can win. Deal with it.
Palin never had a role | 12:06 p.m. July 6, 2009
Palin was never a serious candidate and her resignation as Gov further proves the point. Palin is a light weight who didn't have the educational or career background for national office. She wasn't a lawyer and she didn't even have a business degree. Plain should have never accepted the VP bid because she was doing just fine in the small population state of Alaska and that was the limit of her capabilities. Palin is dead and done politically. Probably find her doing some moose guiding service in Alaska next year.
