Great more taxes. This is what you voted for and why I am too afraid to vote. I don't trust any politicians. If someone told you wolverines made good house pets would you believe them?

To other elected officials in Utah: study Mayor Corroon, you may get some ideas! BUT - If you raise taxes during this recession/depression you won't get re-elected! WATCH AND SEE!

Try actually r-e-a-d-i-n-g the article. The Mayor vetoed the tax increase. That means he blocked it.

Joe Hatch and his fellow Democrats on the council made a monumental goof. How could they vote for the tax increase without knowing - absolutely 100% for certain - that their Democrat mayor would stand by them? Now they endure the public wrath for being "tax and spend" liberals, and yet no tax increase to spend.

A Smart Man, Better than what I have to say about Willard City Mayor Ryan Tingy, and a City Council that votes for a Sewer against the People not being allowed to vote.
Abridging the Rights of the People to Vote is a Federal Crime, Some how they have the Idea their is a Nanny Clause in the Constitution, There is not!
The City has accepted Money from the State Illegally.
Another Federal Crime.
The State is now a part of the crime, They failed to ask did the People approve this Sewer with a vote.
The City failed to think the people will need to sign a paper to install the Sewer.
The City can not go on Private Property and Hook up the Sewer.
If the People refuse to hook up, The City will have to figure a way to pay the State back.
It is un lawful to indebt the public without a vote.
A Multi Million Dollar pipe to pour water for 500 Homes with a Resession comming on.
The Sewer is 30 years to earley, Not enough Homes to pay for the Excessive Venture.
A Constitutional Violation of Our rights to Vote.

Do you want to know why? Because Mayor Corroon has hired more employees and added more beauracracy to County government that any politican in recent history. Why do you think the County is in financial trouble? Because of Corroon and his fiscal cronies spending the County into near bankruptcy with no forsight in saving for a rainy day.

The first good thing that Mayor Corroon has done. He has added more beauracracy than any other in the past and now he is in financial trouble. Let's see if he has the guts to cut his own appointed cronies or if he will cut merit employees who have given their life to the county?

Nice talk, but Corroon's administrative staff is significantly smaller than Nancy Workman's was. He made big staffing cuts when he first took office.

So, why are you still quoting discredited talking points from Corroon's opponent in the last Mayor's race?

Looks like the smear machine that goes after every Utah politician with common sense is up and running.

Although some of our elected officials are voicing consideration for citizens, its only temporary. Those wanting to raise taxes can spend the rest of their days in office concentrating all their efforts to pass legislation to raise taxes, ignoring the fact we are in a depression and have no money. We have fewer taxes and fewer jobs and that equates to downsizing government to adjust to the economy. What has been established in the past on windfall taxes should be facing the axe.

Just because government spends on frivolities does not mean it cannot be undone. Legislation to spend can also be legislated to cancel spending, once a spend law is written does not mean it can't be canceled.

This also applies to any and all groups receiving any tax funding and are subject to the axe. Once liberal spending is all at risk to cuts and closure.

With the value of our homes dowm we should be considering a re-write of the taxes and reduce as to the value of the home or property. How can they consider even raising property taxes. My home has lost at least $75,000 in value if I could even sell it. I guess the people who are working and can scrape up enough money to pay taxes have to pay for the loss of tax reveune to keep our elected or appointed officals in a job as well as assume more of the burden for the services we and everyone receives. Little bit hard when your retired and live on a fixed income. But of course Randy, Jenny and Joe Hatch need more,

Caroon's shortsighted actions have created long term damage to Salt Lake County. The tax increase would only be $10 per year on a $250,000 home. This is peanuts. In return for a tax increase, we would receive greater public safety and less crime. All those who railed against this tax increase better plan on not calling law enforcement to help them when they become the next victims of criminals who law enforcement doesn't have money to catch and the jail doesn't have money to keep off the street. Caroon should be ashamed of himself for putting his future political aims ahead of the good of the people.

Threats of chaos are all you have.

When the body is starving, it uses fat reserves, not starves the heart. So should government. Caroon will be rewarded for cutting fat in times of lean, as it should be.

Corroon has done a number of good, and thoroughly unexpected things, for a Democrat. I am delighted to see that he not only vetoed this but was able to articulate the very valid reason for doing so, and that he offered a much better solution (i.e.- cut spending).

Keep it up!

I like Gary Herbert for Governor, but if some squishy RINO ends up with the nomination, I would seriously consider voting for Corroon.
