I hope she didn't hurt the little guy.

Hasn't something like this happened before between them, and I thought they got divorced.
huh? | 1:44 p.m. July 2, 2009
Who is Lance Rushton? What happened to cause the domestic abuse charges? Where is the information? Hello?

Awful photo of her...Does she really look like that?
Justin | 1:57 p.m. July 2, 2009

Wow. several bombs and she exploded more than once. Sounds like the charge should domestic terrorism, not domestic violence.

"...dropped the F-bomb..." Where's the AP Style Guide?
Nate | 2:09 p.m. July 2, 2009
I didn't know that the D-News or any other reputable news organization though using the phrase "F-bomb" was in accordance with appropriate reporting demeanor. Try again, Sara. This is more like a blog post in the way it is written...

I think your marriage is pretty much doomed when the husband has his own bedroom.

Also, someone accused Gary Coleman of roughing them up? That is hilarious.
Anonymous | 2:13 p.m. July 2, 2009
Seems odd to use the term, "F-Bomb" in an article. Seems the more professional way to state it would be, "... and she cursed at police."
Jesse Tucker | 2:15 p.m. July 2, 2009
Yes its an awful photo, its called a mugshot...the police don't exactly let you get all fixed up before they snap one. Nice joke JAYEG, its great that we can find humor in this situation. You know, I think Coleman wanted to move to this community to escape some of the negative attention he would garner anywhere else. A sleepy mormon suburb would seem to be a good place to disappear, but it turns out we are just like the rest of the nation and like to gawk and snicker at people too. I feel sorry for this couple, and for Mr. Coleman. Why don't we give them some privacy...there are many more stories worthy of attention. Why do we have to be so fixated on celebrity, especially in this case when a domestic dispute should have remained a closed matter to the public.

How cute.
Ugh | 2:17 p.m. July 2, 2009
Wow, what a nice photo. F-Bomb? Come on Dnews, is that the best you could come up with?

Back to divorce court for these guys!

Having Gary Coleman living in Southern Utah County is just awesome.

Dropped the Fbomb.....great writing.

I thought former tv stars all had beautiful wives. Yikes!!!!! She needs to get to Hollywood and have some work done. :-)

There's some real professional writing at the DN. F-Bomb? That doesn't belong in journalistic writing. Go back to high school and learn how to write correctly.

I have witnessed the delightful couple......she carries him around like a baby.....put him down hes 40!
Tabloid DN | 2:54 p.m. July 2, 2009
Looks like the DN has officially lowered itself even further to a source of juicy gossip. I would hate to be famous. One bad day of PMS and it becomes a national headline and you end up in jail for it. Famous people are not always the problem. Cops and the media are the problem.
Wondering | 3:04 p.m. July 2, 2009
I thought they were getting divorced.

You guys are getting worked up over the use of the word F-Bomb? Please....loosen up a little already.

We've become so sensitive to EVERYTHING these days. Really, it's kind of sad!
Criptomole | 3:29 p.m. July 2, 2009
Is that a recent photo of Gary?
If it is, he should get the Pope to exersize the wicked Demon out of him.
Anonymous | 3:35 p.m. July 2, 2009
She appears to be recovering from two black eyes and a wound to her cheek, I wonder if the police even asked about those items?
re: Tabloid DN | 3:41 p.m. July 2, 2009
Yeah, you're totally right, it was the cops, media, and PMS that set her off on a temper tantrum of such epic proportion the cops felt it necessary to take her into custody. Completely and absolutely beyond all her reason and control.

And could we please have a moritorium on the "Looks like XX is offcially a tabloid now"? If you're disappointed a news organization is covering a particular story, just come out and say it. Don't pre-empt it with a cliche, it's a weak attempt at insult.

And what's the deal with everyone ragging on F-bombs? I for one like F-bombs, it expresses a higher degree of specifity than "cursing" or "shouting expletives" so we know what level of swears we're dealing with here.
Utahn | 3:52 p.m. July 2, 2009
Hey Jesse Tucker and Tabloid DN,
If Gary Coleman and his wife want privacy, they should not go to bowling alleys and rough people up. They should also not be outside yelling at each other. A jail booking is a public matter. Once your booked, anyone can see it. If they want their privacy, they should act like it and stop drawing attention to themselves.
What? | 4:55 p.m. July 2, 2009
Where in the legal code is "Messing up the content of one's own home" classified as a crime? And why does a married man have his own room?
Pint-Size Perspective | 5:53 p.m. July 2, 2009
Whoa, whoa, whoa. People, let's not be jumping to conclusions. This story was a little short on detail.
Anonymous | 6:44 p.m. July 2, 2009
Why do we need this kind of news, it's personal issues, not our business. I just saw the first line of the article and don't feel the need to read the rest.
AD | 9:41 p.m. July 2, 2009
A sleepy Mormon town is a place worthy of escaping from, not escaping to...who talks more about other people's business than people in Utah County? And they do bring on the attention themselves. This is a report that has been made time and time again, Gary Coleman loves attention and his wife obviously does as well.
Trashing property that is jointly owned is a crime regardless of if it is in your own home...she shares the posessions with him so he has the right to call police.

Well i happen to know the couple. And beleive me Its not all what you guys are saying. For one She has always had an explosive temper. And They just went to divorce court for the money. They were not getting a divorce. But after last night they will be. I give Gary a round of appluse It serves Shannon Right. She has been nothing but nasty to others. Ever since highschool. Gary is not the best of people either but he has his good sides. He had it rough when he was a kid his parents took all of his money he didnt get to see a dime of it. He also has alot of health issues going on. But this couple is officialy over. After that spat.
DN Saw the Light | 7:24 a.m. July 3, 2009
I read this article late, that is, a considerable time after it went online.

So finally after having read the article and then reading 32 of the comments it became apparent that the DN staff recognized that it should not have used the term F-Bomb and so took out such a reference. We all mistakes. Good for you DN, but it's best to review articles before they get published.

The writer and her supervisor no doubt have learned a good lesson!

I have always felt bad for Gary Coleman. Think about it - he made a ton of money but his parents stole it and he had to sue them so obviously he doesn't have much family support in his life. I heard him quoted once as saying that he really didn't have or want many friends because people always want something from him. How sad is that??? That was clearly the case at the bowling alley with intrusive people snapping pictures of him and that chick in CA demanding an autograph. Dude everyone has a bad day. Now he has a wife who is apparently immature and has a violent temper. On top of all this the guy has some serious health issues requiring daily treatment. I think he has a good sense of humor about the jokes made about him for the most part but this stuff has to get to him. I really hope Gary dumps this chick and finds people who are truly interested in him and want to see him succeed.
Betty | 10:58 a.m. July 4, 2009
It's time for this troup to get out of the headlines. Gary's had a difficult life and being in the newspaper is not helpful. His wife is certifiable. She needs to take a long one-way walk.
