Keep him! | 1:38 p.m. July 1, 2009
Don't let him go!
Ghost | 1:42 p.m. July 1, 2009
It's great for Millsap tht he is getting lots of interest, but bad for the Jazz. I hope the Jazz can figure out a way to keep him here in Utah. Best of luck to Paul no matter what happens.
Angry Jazz Fan | 1:54 p.m. July 1, 2009
Jazz management has had so many opportunities and always does what makes the fans upset. Milsap deserves to be on a better team because he is a great person and player. Jazz management is scum. Boozer and AK47 are cancer on this team and Jazz management does not care. Milsap does not care all about the money so Jazz management will let him go to punish the fans.

Too bad we had to keep Boozer and his lame injuries. We have to sign Millsap.. he can catch the ball and works through pain, unlike Carlos.

Angry Jazz Fan

You are angry. Trust me - Millsap will be back. AK and Millsap get along great, and they play really well together.

i'll be quite surprised if jazz  | 2:20 p.m. July 1, 2009
don't actually re-sign millsap due to the obvious fact that they will only pay luxury tax for only 1 season and none after that. now things are going to start getting real interesting due to the fact that utah will have too many expiring contracts next summer and KOC head will be spinning like never before. i would think that if loozer just 'happens' to get injured that they better figure on trading him. if they lose millsap cuz of free agency and loozer is injured then i'll for sure be looking forward to the nba draft lottery. then again knowing loozer, he'll make darned good sure that he's healthy for ALL upcoming 82 games so that he can receive his 'raise' from the jazz or some other team next summer.
@angry Jazz fun | 2:26 p.m. July 1, 2009
Why are the Jazz Management scum? Because they are being held hostage and trying to make the best out of the fact that Boozer is scum and won't keep any of his words, or because AK didn't pan out the way they had hoped? Their arms are tied but they are doing what they can.
Chadders | 3:26 p.m. July 1, 2009
offer him 7.5 per if not let him go. If he's worth more than that we'll see it, if not it shouldn't be that hard to trade him.
Anonymous | 3:28 p.m. July 1, 2009
Yeah, angry Jazz fan, Jazz management is just trying to punish us fans. Their sole purpose is to torture us. Give me a break, they are doing their best with the options they have to create a championship team. There's nothing they can do right away about Boozer not opting out. You're right about Millsap being a great person and player, and here in Utah is exactly where we want him!
to angry jazz fan | 3:48 p.m. July 1, 2009
do us all a favor and stop being a jazz fan now. chances are, you have only been a jazz since three years ago.
Same Old Team  | 4:19 p.m. July 1, 2009
next year with the same old excuses for being a lousy team and the same old suckers pouring their money in to the Jazz bucket as idol worshipers like to do.

I can't wait to see which player has the biggest diamond ear ring this year. sick.....
Hopefully... | 4:23 p.m. July 1, 2009
These other teams that are looking to sign Millsap have been made aware that the injured All-Star, Olympian bench warmer, Boozer is available for cheap!!!!

"angry Jazz fan"

are you serious? what are you 9 years old?
The Jazz are fine, manegment is fine. NBA.com just did a story about the worst places for players to end up and UTAH was in the bottom groups. managment does the best with what they have.
utahjazz2010champs | 4:45 p.m. July 1, 2009
give millsap 5 or 6 million a year hes not worth more than that he cant start unless he learns how to hit a jumper then he'd be an all star... the only question is when is KOC going to trade AK for maggette and turiaf so we can win a championship, or better yet try to get amare who the suns would give away for a ham sandwich right now... deron and amare in the pick n roll... would we ever lose a game?
Happy Jazz fan | 5:14 p.m. July 1, 2009
I love the Jazz and no matter what happens i will still watch all of their games and cheer them to victory. Its a business and not everything can go the way us jazz fans would like! they treat everyone well and they are better then alot of other organizations!

GO JAZZ AND BRING HOME A CHAMPIONSHIP:)
"Z" | 5:27 p.m. July 1, 2009
being subjective is so easy! So here we go. I can be a self proclaimed GM like everyone else. Millsap wants to get paid! He has earned his money! Get over the honeymoon stage that we have been in for two years. It's time to let him go play for a team where he can get good minutes. Boozer will be great this year. His contract will be up! And BTW...chill out and take a look at what a train wreck the Clippers and the Timberwolves are in! Oh, and the Knicks, oh, and the Suns too. Mellow peeps!
tO z | 5:35 p.m. July 1, 2009
i COULD NOT AGREE MORE WITH WHAT YOU SAID. WE CONTINUE TO MAKE PLAYOFFS YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT AND WE COMPLAIN. SORRY WE CANT AFFORD TO PAY PLAYERS 22 MILLION A YEAR AND 4 OTHER GUYS AROUND 10.. WE COULD BE LIKE CLIPPERS OR T WOLVES AND THANK GOODNESS WE ARE NOT!

WELL SAID Z
Cowboy Joe | 5:51 p.m. July 1, 2009
The Pistons just signed Villanueva and Ben Gordon. Now they won't need Richard Hamilton. Maybe the Jazz can trade Boozer for Hamilton. That would free up 3 million is space, if the Clippers would trade Harpring and Korver for Camby that would free up another 3 million. I just saved the Jazz 6 million and got an interior presence and a good shooting guard. Two of the Jazzs' biggest weaknesses. I should be GM
DET is now out of the Millsap | 6:18 p.m. July 1, 2009
chase. OKC does not need Millsap. If they can steal him they may trade him (to who?). Until I see a concrete offer out of OKC I think it is just hassle by OKC and agent posturing.

MEM is a good fit but they are currently going in another direction. In a couple of days the teams that could bid more than the mid level exemption will be down to 1 or 2 and they will still have lots of options besides Millsap.

Lee is probably going to be gone but he will take out one of the potential Millsap bidders. Evidence that Millsap is not worth as much as Lee.
BigJazzFan | 7:10 p.m. July 1, 2009
The jazz ca not afford to resign millsap.

millsap goen and that is that.

while he is very good backup at PF that is all he ever was or will be.

To win championships you need length and defense at PF spot.

It you want a good winnimg team millsap is fine,
if you want to win a championship he is not.

The best the jazz may hope for is a sign trade of Lee for boozer.

MEM is out | 8:11 p.m. July 1, 2009
The Clips just dumped Z-BO on the Griz in exchange for Q Richardson. Z-BO makes 33 Mill over 2 years.

They no longer need Millsap.

Z-BO is a 20/9 PF. The move clear space for Griffin and cap space for the Clips in 2010. It give MEM the PF that they needed. The deal will be completed next week.

MEM will still have cap space but does not need Millsap.
Why Not Turn On Milsap Fans | 8:15 p.m. July 1, 2009
He's the same as all of them, money first committment to team second. Give it to him. As a second rounder he should feel fortunate that he was drafted by the Jazz. he got playing time and starter minutes real quick here. He will NEVER be an All-Star or an elite player. He has reached his limit. we will be fine without him.
OKC | 8:24 p.m. July 1, 2009
General manager Sam Presti says the Thunder don't want to let "restlessness be our nemesis" and spend the extra money they have below the NBA's salary cap just because they can.

Presti says the Thunder want to keep an eye on the future as well as the present.

Power forward Malik Rose and swingman Desmond Mason are among the veteran players from last year's squad that are free agents this offseason.

Jeff Green the starting PF for OKC had 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds and Malik Rose the back up had 5 and 3.3.

They have no reason to pay Millsap big bucks. He would be a back up anyway. They might trade Green for another player if they had Millsap but Green makes 3.7 mill. They are not going to pay Paul 10+. It is all agent talk.
Looks like all of the Jazz FAs | 8:33 p.m. July 1, 2009
are not loved by the FA market. Maybe they are all over paid and over rated?
Cowboy Joe | 8:33 p.m. July 1, 2009
That was exactly the scenario I was hoping for. My question is whether it makes sense for the Pistons to pick up Boozer now that they signed Villanueva.

Also, I think the Randolph to Memphis deal derailed a trade for Camby or Kaman. LAC will want to keep them and play them with Griffin.

Maybe there is still a possibility of a deal for Chandler? I'm a lot less excited about him, but Okur and Boozer in the paint is guaranteed to get the Jazz nowhere fast.

I can't help but feel the FO is sitting on their hands while everyone around us is making huge moves. I wish they would freaking do something. Anything.
OKC needs a C | 8:57 p.m. July 1, 2009
The starter for OKC at Center is Krstic, he averaged 9.7 and 5.5 in 24:48 minutes.

They could play Millsap at C but it makes a lot more sense for them to go for Gortat. They can out bid HOU and other teams that want Gortat. They want a defensive C.

Millsap is an okay defender and has some offense. Gortat is a better rebounder. I really do not see Millsap as a starting C even on the Thunder.

Millsap averages 13.5 and 8.6 in 30:06 minutes. Gortat averages 3.8 and 4.5 in 12:35 minutes.
JJ | 9:17 p.m. July 1, 2009
Why on earth would any team besides the Jazz play Millsap at Center? HE IS 6'7"!!! He may be a hustle player, but I would never call him a "lockdown" defender, especially against 7 footers. Let's use our heads before we post on here. By the way, I agree with the poster at 8:15 who said that Millsap is no different than Boozer: he too is all about the money. I hope the lack of interest in him reminds him that he is merely a backup and always will be, nothing more. For all you dilusional fans HUSTLE DOES NOT EQUAL PRODUCTION! Boozer will always be better, regardless of his lack of hustle. All of the greatest players in the history were great because of SKILL not HUSTLE!
GoodGuyGary | 9:43 p.m. July 1, 2009
Play Millsap at Center? When did he go back to junior high?

By the way, Zach Randolph is going to Memphis, Charlie Villanueva is going to Pistons, do there are not many choices for Millsap.

I predict Millsap will play for the Jazz for less than 7M next year.
Name | 9:48 p.m. July 1, 2009
If Millsap really wants to be with the Jazz, he can negotiate a deal with them. He doesn't have to take a big offer from another club that the Jazz can't match. If he wants to be with the Jazz more than he wants big money now, it is up to him. Of course if he takes less to stay with the Jazz, he would be one of a very few players willing to do that. If he agrees to a front-loaded contract with another team, then we will know he really doesn't want to be back with the Jazz. We will see what happens.
Ariza seems to be bolting | 10:12 p.m. July 1, 2009
LA. Artest seems to be saying good bye to HOU. Turkoglu and Gortat are still on the market. So is Lee.

There are a lot more attractive players out there for the remaining FA money than Millsap.

Odom is still unsigned but he will probably stay with LA if Ariza leaves. This is getting interesting. Only OKC, SAC, POR and ATL have cap space. SAC is not expected to do much. POR is after Turkoglu/Ariza. ATL has their own FAs to deal with.

OKC has contacted Gortat. They will have to out bid HOU which can only offer the mid level exception.

Most of the remaining Restricted FAs are going to have to take the mid level exception (5.6 mill) or play out their contract years and be Unrestricted in 2010. Most of the Unrestricted FAs have no team that can bid more than the mid level exemption.

Sign and Trade is an option but in this market owners are going to be very tight.

Small wonder Boozer, Okur and Kover opted in.

I would expect Millsap to get some offer better than the Jazz Qualifying Offer.

This is simple, the other teams will continue to add, O Connor will do nothing and there you go

BRAIN WASHED jazz fan | 11:01 p.m. July 1, 2009
I love the FO and what they do. I love sloan and his system. This jazz team consistenly enters (and exits) the post season like no other team. Sloan has shown us how good he is at rotating players. He loves to Talk about defense. He really has a knack for calling a time out when necessary and is one of the best at developing and motivating young players.

Please do not make any changes to the coaching staff or players of this mediocre first round exit team. If we can only make the playoffs for just 20 more years--that would be great. Just swell.

If you want to feel bad for a team think of the clippers (as some other really smart people have mentioned). They have Blake Griffin PF, C. Maggete SG, B Davis PG, and Kaman/Camby C. Wow they are really going to have a difficult time. I am glad I am not a clippers fan. Yep I just dont know what I would do with out the stabily of knowing that we will win 50 games with an early exit next season. Yep No changes FO and keep up the good work/Business.

we need to talk, email me you got potential son... Great great post, unfortunately, the "sloanaholics" will not agree..

Meanwhile, my stomach gets sicker each new quote, headline or report about how another player we could use goes to a rival because O Connor does not know how to be a general manager-no creativity, cannot sign and trade, watch studs coaches go to the Pistons.

I have yet to see ANYTHING YET THAT TELLS ME GREG IS DIFFERENT THAN DAD...ZERO.....
todd from santa ana | 11:32 p.m. July 1, 2009
What does O Connor do? Maybe some of this waste instead of going to add more pork to our budget could be used to take people from money that do nothing for a living....

I cannot even comprehend how this city is so in agreement with what the Jazz are doing..

I cannot...I would have taken a beating for one year if I had too to get rid of this overpriced hasbeens and wastes start from scratch in 2010 with clean empty payroll new coaches and GM

Outside of Dwil and couple others build and one year go as far in the playoffs as Sloan has done his whole life except twice because of 3 great players..

Your welcome
Fungi | 1:28 p.m. July 2, 2009
Work out a sign and trade with Oklahoma. They sign Millsap and the Jazz trade Boozer for him. Okay, probably some baggage would need to be thrown in to make the numbers work, but it's better than being as much over the luxury tax.
Perfect Sign and Trade | 5:51 p.m. July 2, 2009
Have another team sign Millsap and then trade Boozer to them for Millsap.
