business said it very well...

i knew he'd opt to stay...now we will loose millsap and maybe okur as well....

it will be a long year....i hope you all boo his butt off the court....i'm a fan from canada....I was lucky enough to see 1 live jazz game last year..the triple overtime collapse loss in Miami....if only Korver would play like that all the time!!!he was fabulous even though they lost..
Anonymous | 4:23 p.m. June 30, 2009
so when can we make it official that we want to trade him? Tyson Chandler anybody?
Bill B. | 4:24 p.m. June 30, 2009
As an employer, someone who misses 1/3 the days the are supposed to work, and under-performs for what the are getting paid, the whole Carlos Boozer thing is ludicrous. "Opting out no matter what", eh? I hope he gets booed every time he takes the floor. We shouldn't have signed with him, we he ditched the Cavs like that. It's the Boozer Curse-we stole and we are getting punished for it! Larry Miller would not put up with this.

Lottery | 4:24 p.m. June 30, 2009
With Booz back now we can look forward to having two potential lottery picks next year. That way we have better odds at picking up John Wall and Derrick Favors in the same draft.
lost in DC | 4:25 p.m. June 30, 2009
I think maybe we're looking at this with waaaay too much pessimism. Boozer will be in a contract year - he might actually play.

He knows it's in his best interest to return to being a 20-10 guy (that's 20 points, 10 rebounds; not 20 games played, 10 on IR). He saw there was no interest in the market for the slackard he was last season and if he wants that fat contract next season, he'll play through some of the crap that he sat out with the last few seasons. Ride him hard this year.

his $12+ million is still better than the $17MM+ we're playing Kirilenko to come off the bench - that's the contract that's killing us.
Sick | 4:25 p.m. June 30, 2009
How fast can Jazz management trade loozer. Above all we don't want to lose Millsap.
Trade! | 4:26 p.m. June 30, 2009
Is there any way they can trade him for another player? Or is he going to cash in and sit on the bench all season behind someone who can rebound?
boozer | 4:26 p.m. June 30, 2009
It's all about putting food on my family...
Dan M | 4:27 p.m. June 30, 2009
Now trade Boozer and CJ(or just Boozer), to Detroit for Rip Hamilton and a 1st round draft pick. We get a 2 that moves around which the jazz system requires, and we get rid of Boozer and more Salary.

Or

Trade him to New Jersey for Brooke Lopez, and a contract they dont want.

Or

Trade him and CJ to toronto for Bosh.

Boozer to Charlotte for Okafor and a Second Round Pick.

Just a few suggestions.
Hank | 4:27 p.m. June 30, 2009
Look at it this way...the Jazz will have a great year this next year. Boozer will play through any injuries and work his tail off to make his money next summer. The same goes with Korver. Look for the Jazz to have a great year!
Boozer's word | 4:29 p.m. June 30, 2009
Carlos Boozer is a so-so basketball player but the thing bugs me the most is that he is not a man of his word. First he spurns Cleveland and heads to Utah and then he blabs to a reporter on the east coast that he is opting out and he doesn't. I am not surprised to see fans pulling out of their tickets for next season because we want to see honest hard-working ball players and Boozer is not that at all but Millsap is but I am not sure we can afford him now. The only hope we have as Jazz fans is that Mr. Selfish (Boozer) realizes that if he doesn't play good in 2009-10 that he will get the veterans minimum. Why would any team pay him more than $7 or $6 million a year after next year.
Anonymous | 4:29 p.m. June 30, 2009
PLEASE TRADE LOOZER!
BOOOOOOO | 4:32 p.m. June 30, 2009
Anonymous is definately on the right track!!! TRADE! The sooner the better!
Jazzmans | 4:32 p.m. June 30, 2009
Good deal, the Jazz were in big trouble without Boozer. Now we get a motivated Boozer or worst case scenario one of the best trade chips on the market. This is GREAT news for the Jazz. I mean who were they going to sign that would be better than Boozer? Take a look at the Free Agents...nobody. This puts us in play for next year and possible a sweet trade deal during the season.
interesting | 4:33 p.m. June 30, 2009
to be completely honest i was hoping boozer would come back either way. I mean look at it...he is a much better player than millsap and from the sound of it Millsap wants too much money. I would take a Boozer over a Millsap any day of the week.
Boozer----Who Wants You? | 4:35 p.m. June 30, 2009
Where is your buddy in Miami Mickey Arnstein or what ever his name was? The one that owns the cruise line that was supposedly your close buddy. Can't he get you into Miami? You have JUST closed your doors as for getting a BIG contract in this league in the future! You will GET everything you deserve from here on, including no fan support here in Utah! You will be dropped or traded at the trade deadline this next year GUARANTEED! I can't even wish you good luck.
yay! | 4:38 p.m. June 30, 2009
boozer is good. i am happy right now maybe now that good for nothing millsap will not accept our offer. yay!
Anonymous | 4:38 p.m. June 30, 2009
time to tank and hit the lottery ...
How Does It Feel Now C.B. | 4:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
We the fans don't want you, your wife doesn't want you, and now it's evident no other teams in this league wants you! Who are you going to burn next? Yourself I hope? What a downer, I can't believe it at all, please say it's a bad dream!
Anthony | 4:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
Boozer give Millsap 30% of your salary under the table. So you can save the Jazz and your own face.
Liar! | 4:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
Boozer is a Loozer! Why can't he just opt out??!!!! Let's make this the longest thread ever of "Carlos Loozer" comments! I hope that KOC has something lined up here. if he doesn't we are so hosed. We will only get worse!
Anonymous | 4:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
Where is Todd from Santa Ana? I am a casual reader but everytime I read a story on the Jazz he says "Sloan-holics". Please say it again. Please
Xente | 4:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
This is good news. Let Okur and Sap walk and go get Camby or Kaman for Harpring and CJ. Camby would cover up Boozer's defensive deficiencies and he'll have the best year of his career.
todd from santa ana | 4:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
same ol Jazz roster, and now Millsap will be gone.

Hee hee hee hee
I Blame Our G.M. | 4:46 p.m. June 30, 2009
O'Connor and other management just sank their own ship. Now lets sink their's. Out with the whole coaching staff and top managers including Kevin. These were decisions that they made and only them. Why do you keep poor decision makers?
Let's See | 4:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
Boozer left the Cleveland Cav's, "who made Boozer an unrestricted free agent with the belief he would re-sign with them for their mid-level exception." After he left them the Cav's struggled until the last two years.

Now Boozer is doing this again, only this time to the Jazz. For the want of money he hurts the team he is with. On top of that he only plays once in a while because he is hurt. The fans in Cleveland warned the Jazz
.
The Jazz will pay big in salary Cap fines, and probably loose either Millsap or Okur maybe both.

Whose decisions put the Jazz in this predicament?

todd from santa ana | 4:48 p.m. June 30, 2009
same 2009-2010 jazz roster, No trades or free Agent pickup

TOLD YOU SOOOOOOOOO
Snaps | 4:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
"Hey, I gotta make my money!"

Good for Boozer, he is a very smart binessman. You guys are all just jealous.
disappointed | 4:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
boozer is such a tool, shocker that he is opting in and eating crow right now...
WBM5 | 4:50 p.m. June 30, 2009
NOT BREAKING NEWS!!!! I am sick of getting alerts for non issues!
sparks24 | 4:53 p.m. June 30, 2009
Do you dumb Jazz fans really believe that Milsap is as good as Boozer? The Jazz will not win a championship with Milsap at the 4 your are all NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JAZZMANIA MAN!!!! | 4:54 p.m. June 30, 2009
GET THE FREE AGENTMAN, LET THE BOOZER GO AND LETS SEE MILSAP IN A UTAH JAZZ UNIFORM FOREVER. KEEP THE NATIONAL IMAGE OF A GREAT TEAM AND A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. THE NBA NEEDS A POSITIVE HERE AND THERE AND A RETURN TO UTAH TERRITORY SEEMS TO GIVE THEM A SPARKLE WHEN THEY NEED A SHINE. KEVIN, TRADE THE CARLOSMAN AND GET SOME PRODUCTION BACK AT PF! WE HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP TO GET, LET'S GET AFTER IT!!
Booz the Looz | 4:56 p.m. June 30, 2009
Maybe the Jazz can do to him what the Knicks did last year with Stephon Marbury. May you see the inactive list until you leave utah!
Trade him! | 4:57 p.m. June 30, 2009
i hope someone out there is dumb enough to trade for him. Call Steve Kerr, he'd be the first on my list of suckers. We can't trade him for bosh, bosh makes more money than booze i believe. Maybe booze and cj for bosh? I'll take anyone for boozer, i dont care if it makes our team worse next year, it will get the bad vibes out of the locker room and we'll get to keep okur and milsap, thats all i'm worried about for this year. next year will be a huge turning point for the team. here's to the 2010-2011 season!
Ed | 4:57 p.m. June 30, 2009
Settle down people.... While I wish he was gone, how many of you are quitting your job right now to most likely take a paycut somewhere else?

Hopefully KOC can work a trade now. His expiring contract this next year makes him more attractive now.
I Hear All Of You Saying | 4:58 p.m. June 30, 2009
That this will mean a 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs! What makes you think that some of the teams that didn't make it this year won't take your place next year? The playoffs are not a given! Get real people.
Re Chadders | 4:59 p.m. June 30, 2009
The name is Macnamara.........and now you know one. And by the way you malcontents are in the minority!
The Jazz have to be remade | 5:07 p.m. June 30, 2009
anyway in order to contend. There is no way a Boozer, Okur lead team beats LA/SA.

Boozer can now be traded for a PF or C who will be taller and play D. If Okur signs with a non NBA team he gives cap space. If Millsap goes he is replaceable.

The Jazz are in a good position to assemble a team that can contend but still be under the salary cap.

This current team is an impossible situation. They cost to much and are not good enough. It is time to start over and do it right.

PG need a good back up

PF total revamp, boozer traded, Millsap maybe gone

C likely revamp, Okur gone

SF Harp is traded

SG need a shooter who can defend

Depending on how KOC does it Boozer, Okur and maybe Millsap will be replaced with better players that the Jazz can afford. Ones who can compete with LA.

I am not convinced that Sloan's system will ever be able to beat LA or SA. I doubt that a PG/PF system can beat the triangle or the inside out of SA.

Replace Sloan and get a championship.
What's up with evryone? | 5:17 p.m. June 30, 2009
Are there no business people on this thread?
First, do not blame Boozer for his contract, blame the Jazz.
Second, why is there no anger at AK's contract which is what is really causing the cap problem?
Third, signing Millsap is still possible if Okur opts out, which he probably will if he is really concerned about his father's health?
Finally, quit blamming the players for getting over-paid. Blame the greedy owners with ego's bigger than the players. I do not blame the players at all. If someone is throwing money at me to leave my company and work for their company at twice my salary, well my family comes first!
Matt | 5:24 p.m. June 30, 2009
Great, the delusional whiners are out in full effect. This is the vocal minority that (1) thinks free agents will flock to Utah, (2) becomes eternally offended when any Jazz player suggests he might leave Utah, (3) calls for ridiculously unrealistic trades for players like Bosh or R. Allen and (4) whines nonstop about everything.

BOOOOO | 5:24 p.m. June 30, 2009
And by the way, Okur is staying too. ESPN scooped you guys, Dez News.
KJ | 5:28 p.m. June 30, 2009
Where were you the day Boozer opted in?
What to do to Get better? | 5:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
This team has to do something to get better, i mean I know they won't be able to trade the booz and that's because no one wants the so called 20 and 10 guy in their team, but these roster wont get pass of the 1st round of next season playoffs IF they can get in the playoffs.

They have to trade AK or someone else for an inside D guy to make some stops, and they need a real SG that can lure some D.
Ruined | 5:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
My watching the Jazz this year will be ruined because of the disgust for Boozer, his slap-at defense, which amounts to little better than nothing, and his lack of toughness. Now where will Sloan find a time for Millsap. He should be starting with Boozer the backup but Sloan and the powers that be see to be in love with Booz. Lets just hope they can find a trade and open up the money bag to find a really good power forward to replace him.
On Boylen | 6:19 p.m. June 30, 2009
Let Big Jim win for more than one year in a row up on the hill before he makes suggestions on policy for the Jazz. If Boozer can play a whole season and do his 20 and 10 thing, no one will care about his defense...much! Hopefully Carlos can turn it around and be a team and a fan guy. I like him as a person and I really want to like him as a player.
Jeremy | 6:19 p.m. June 30, 2009
Boozer is now trade bait. Maybe we can trade him to Iran for something to store at energy solutions, or to the Cavs and he can ride there bench behind Lebron James....
Boo | 6:32 p.m. June 30, 2009
This is typical Boozer. He is doing everything he can to ruin Millsap because he's figured out that Paul is a better player than him and people actually like him. With any luck BOOZ will hurt his toe and sit the bench the whole season.

Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, left, has chosen not to opt out of the final year of his contract, a decision that may make it harder for the Jazz to re-sign forward Paul Millsap, right.
