Obama lies | 8:31 a.m. June 27, 2009
BO promised a tax cut for 95% of Americans. How many of you reading this have received a tax cut? How many of you have been notified that you will received a tax cut? The supposed tax cuts were no more than well crafted lies and half truths spun into the BO campaign. Now then, here is reality...
This so-called energy bill amounts to one of the largests tax INCREASES for EVERY AMERICAN in the history of the country and all in the sacred name of "green jobs" and "saving the planet". As BO's crafty cabinet advisors have said, "never let a good crisis go to waste". Yes sir, use the gloabal warming "crisis" to raise taxes. The worst of this is jobs in the private sector will be lost because of this and utility bills will be hiked up as a result - something every one of us will soon feel. You can bet if BO promises transparency that is the LAST thing you will actually get. How many of you have READ this ENERGY BILL? NONE - because IT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO BE READ which is another BO broken promise.

OOOOO. I feel safer this morning.
Pattern of deception | 8:41 a.m. June 27, 2009
there is a pattern that has emerged since the great Zeus Obama has decended to planet earth to reign over his peasant population. EVERY MAJOB BILL has been rushed through the House of Representatives with ZERO TRANSPAENCY and ZERO ACCESS to and by the public. Remember the so-called stimulus bill that nobody read? This bill follows the same pattern of deception. Rush the GIGANITC bill through the House before even the congressmen can actually read the thing. Alarm the public that if we don't pass it the world will come to an end and condemn anyone who opposes it. This pattern is the Obama way and it full of deception. The sad thing is we the people are the ones who will be losing our jobs and choaked with higher energy bills.

I believe we have a government that's gone bad. I don't believe in global warming either. Al gore, how did you get your expertize in global warming. As the saying goes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I AM TIRED OF HEARING HOW OUR COUNTRY IS BEHIND OTHER COUNTRIES, WHO THE HECK CARES.WE ARE AMERICA,LAND OF OPPORTUNITY,FREEDOM,AND FREEDOM TO CHOOSE FOR OUR OWN.WE NEED TO KICK OUT OUR GOVERNMENT AND VOTE IN NEW ONES AND EQUAL ALL AROUND SO IT IS MORE FAIR. And mostly a smaller government, not one that controls the people, but the people control the government.Adhere to our constitution. And let for the people by the people be heard.I believe we should take good care of our planet, but let's not be ridicules,I do not back Obama, and certainly not AL Gore, Palosi, Reid. But we the people need to open our own eyes to the truths of what is in store for us in the future and the lies we believe.Pray for ourselves, the Government that serves US, and most of all this Country AMERICA !

We'll since I'm a meterologist I have a little more knowledge on the subject of climate change. Regulating a naturally occuring gas is not a solution to anything. It's absurd and that's it. For those ignorant people out there, CO2 doesn't drive climate or effect the climate in anyway, except help plants grow faster. This bill will change the lives of americans significantly. You're energy bills will sky rocket. 2nd if you do believe in man made global warming this bill have zero impact on the CO2 output of the US. For the person who hopes and prays this bill will pass, go educate yourself and really find out how the climate works and what the impact on the climate this bill will have. Then come debate me.
Jonesy | 9:28 a.m. June 27, 2009
It's a very sad, unpleasant, misguided day for Americans who have been wooed by a power-hungry, greedy, anti-American congress. If this makes it through the Senate, we WILL be paying massively higher utility rates...you watch.
Brian | 9:32 a.m. June 27, 2009
We're toast...but it ain't because of Global Warming!

Some Additional facts:
1. Al Gore stands to be the First Billionaire from this bill! Its your money!
2. Temperatures were warmer in the middle ages than they are now. Example: Greenland used to grow crops!
3. M.I.T estimates the results of this bill passing as 3,200 dollars in taxes to a family of 4 making 33,000 dollars. 75 cent per gallon tax increase. 2.3 million to 2.7 million jobs lost. Just the facts from a left leaning University.
4. Utah, West Virginia and other States to have Coal Industry destroyed by this bill.
5. Countries that had this tax are going away from it because they found it to be a failed policy.
6. Chicago politics are still lower than this so more taxes to come.
7. Obama has no tax cuts in mind! Never did! He just plain LIED TO GET ELECTED!
8. The 1200 page bill was not read by one member who voted for it!
9. The 8 Stupid Republicans who voted for this bill should resign in disgrace!! The party should shun them!
10. SOCIALISM is on the RISE!
KM | 11:04 a.m. June 27, 2009
Every time I hear the whiney voice and plastic face of Queen Nancy Peloci, I want to puke! This Marxist mavin is hell bent, with her King Obama, destroy our lives as we know them. The farce that 95% of the people will not be taxed, that somehow we can stick it to the rich and they will be able to pay for these stupid tax bills, is sooooo far fetched it makes me wonder if libs even have any intelligence at all!
Our formerly great country used to be the desire of all the commies and socialists around the world, they would risk life and limb just to have the chance for freedom and life in America. No more! They will stop comming to a country that offers them the same life they now have.
Dave | 11:11 a.m. June 27, 2009
I do not understand our government. We are spending money we do not have, and yet our congress, under the direction of President Obama, continues to work on and pass bills that will add trillions of dollars of spending (health care, energy policy and law). I haven't heard a word about solving the upcoming crisis in social security and medicare.

Is there an intentional effort to collapse the dollar, bankrupt our country (similar to the Soviet Union), and reform our government and country, thus permanently shifting the balance of power and creating a new constitution?

Though this sounds like rediculous conspiracy talk, doesn't it seem like President Obamas and congress work is taking us down this road?

I add my voice to the energy debate...global warming due to human causes is a hoax. It is political propaganda to advance a cause.

Utah passed a bill last year:

2008 S.B. 202 Substitute
Energy Resource and Carbon Emission Reduction Initiative
Curtis S. Bramble/David Clark

No votes against this bill that was signed into law. Republican and/or Democrats.
In Utah we can pass bills in this area, without 1500 pages, and without costing $800 Billion.

"To the extent that it is cost effective to do so, beginning in 2025 the annual retail electric sales in this nation of each electrical corporation shall consist of qualifying electricity or renewable energy certificates in an amount equal to at least 20% of adjusted retail electric sales."

That sentence could replace the whole cap and trade bill, just about.

Utah 54-17-602

I changed the word state to nation.

For people that don't think it would work, look at all the renewable energy power locations we now have in Utah and growing...
Digbads | 1:50 p.m. June 27, 2009
how can the hottest years on record be the latest years, when we have in our recorded history crops being successfully grown in Greenland in the early part of the last millenium? When seafarers new of the "northwest passage" but couldn't find it (Because of the ice that has blocked it during this current mini-ice age).

The hottest years in the US since we've been taking good meteorological records are the 1930's. Look at the data, not Al Gore's "fudging".

The "hockey stick" is bogus. Al Gore is a flim-flam man and so many suckers are lining up to follow him.
Research Scientist | 2:43 p.m. June 27, 2009
I have been involved in scientific research for over 30 years and I can tell you that the literature (scientific evidence) supporting global warming and climate change is shoddy and for the most part non-peer reviewed. Mostly opinion statements by those that stand to get, or are getting millions in research grants.

As for the actual research to support climate change... there isn't any.
A BETTER PLAN | 3:00 p.m. June 27, 2009
Want to decrease emissions? Build some nuclear power plants and buy a Tesla. They are a beautiful automobile, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds (thats faster than a Vet, Ferrari, and a Porsche) and can go nearly 300 miles on a charge.

This is a simple example of market driven environmentally sound clean energy policy WITHOUT government intervention... and our air quality would be perfect!

For the 30 billion $$ that Obama flushed down the auto industry toilet just to suck up to the unions, he could have spread the Tesla technology across the auto industry AND built the nuclear power plants to run the cars. And oh yea, the Middle East would be nothing but a bad memory.

Sadly, liberals are more interested in gaining power than in real solutions.
Ashcroft | 3:38 p.m. June 27, 2009
It's bizarre and fascinating that so many of the opinions expressed here are focused on Al Gore. Frankly, whether Mr. Gore is a saint or sinner isn't my highest concern. What is of concern is whether human beings are changing the atmosphere in a way that has or is likely to affect the climate.

On that question, some of the postings here have been frighteningly misguided. For example, at least one person has claimed that the Earth's mean temperature has declined since 1998. I'd like to see the data on that, but climate is not about what has happened in the last ten years. Climate is about long-term trends. If someone tries to draw a broad conclusion about climate based on a few years of data - even ten years of data - don't believe them.

Long term climate predictions are complex, and our understanding will undoubtedly improve in the future. That said, the overwhelming majority of the scientists studying climate conclude that human is changing the climate. Several professional societies, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Geophysical Union have adopted formal statements to that effect.

How can I find how Utah's representatives voted on the National Energy Tax bill?
Vanya | 5:56 p.m. June 27, 2009
It will be interesting to see how those that think we are nutcases feel when they ere hit with the huge costs that will fall to everyone as the result of this bill. This bill if passeed will put huge amounts of money in the hands of the government and give thgem more power over us. How trusting, gullible and non understanding can one be. Perhaps they have just not studied the constitution or communismm. Obama is a communist. Perhaps you will be like the White rats in Poland who shut their eyes and would not see and were destroyed. Do you no longer understand what our country stands for? Or are we too much like the Romans we like being fed and controlled. I like having freedom and this is a fag flying event and anyone who thinks it is not is naive and I am truly sorry for them.
Steel | 6:28 p.m. June 27, 2009
For those out there who think this will help & lower costs, this will raise the price to produce steel products also, which will raise the price of cars, appliances, houses, anything that has steel ... that is if the steel companies decide to stay in business in (what is left of) the USA.

This Oligarchy of a government has now started to chase our steel companies out in favor of foriegn steel producers.

As a Democrat, I really am sorry for voting for this man, all out there, please accept my apology.

God help us!
To Arron the meterologist | 8:43 p.m. June 27, 2009
I'm not giving any credibility to a self-proclaimed meterologist who can't even write gramatically correct sentences and uses the incorrect form of "you're" (your). As a proclaimed meterologist, saying that CO2 gas has NO effect on the Climate whatsoever is laughable. Even those (few) scientists who don't believe in man-made climate change will tell you that CO2 gas in the atmosphere reflects some long-wave radiation back at the Earth. Its physics, not opinion. And apparently you have a degree in economics as well?? Nice try.
Alright! | 9:16 p.m. June 27, 2009
For all you super intelligent global warming believers. If everything is warming up then why hasn't places like death valley set any heat records? The last hottest heat record there was in 1913.
Grimble | 12:41 a.m. June 28, 2009
Alright:

Because weather and climate aren't the same thing. That's like saying "If you think I'm going bald, explain to me why this hair growing out of my ear so long!"
This is so Utah | 9:31 p.m. June 28, 2009
Wow, I cannot believe how SELFISH we are about getting a new law that is going to help future generations to live healthy!!! Sometimes is better to PAY MORE to get something BETTER,
We are KILLING each other in the world because of the OIL today.
WE CRY TO PAY MORE IN CLEAN ENERGY, BUT WE DONT CRY WHEN WE GO TO BUY A NEW HD TV OR THE PS3 OR THE NEW BLUE RAY PLAYER OR THE BULLETS AND GUNS TO GO TO "SAFARI" @ THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS!!!

THINK PEOPLE, THINK!!!! Our childrens will be better, maybe it will cost more, but it will be better!!!!

I really choose to pay more now, so my grandchildren will have a better place to live and play.

DONT BE SELFISH!!!
considering leaving | 7:16 a.m. June 29, 2009
Pay for nothing get nothing. Yeah our cities won't be dirty they will be empty. You fools have not seen Detroit lately. I would rather have a Bejing than a unemployed Detroit.

I'm not dumb enough to to think that those who are supporting the cap and trade are seriously for more expensive energy. I realize also they are trying to push our buttons, But how foolish are these kids. one day they hope to have jobs and money and a home. Good luck with that my friends.

Climate change may be real. Economics and oppressive govt is real I'll take my chances with what i know exists.
To This is so Utah | 2:26 p.m. June 29, 2009
If not being brain washed by the human caused global warming crowd is "so Utah" then I am proud to be from Utah. You are the one who needs to THINK. I have a much "greener" life style than most the so called environmentalists. I have a 3 mile commute. I live in a modest sized home. I buy wind power because I think it is something worth while to explore. My wife stays at home so she doesn't commute at all. We live a very simple life. I live this way because I want to. I think the human cause global warming nonsense is just that, nonsense. It is all about power and money. Just because I don't believe in this doesn't mean I don't care about clean air. You've watched Gore's movie one too many times. Think for yourself.
To This is so Utah | 2:49 p.m. June 29, 2009
The problem with your analysis is that this legislation will not help children "live healthy." You've bought the liberal tripe that this bill is about improving the environment. It won't. It's simply a money-grubbing power grab.
Have you people read? | 3:27 p.m. June 29, 2009

Have you people read what's in this tax bill?

One example of craziness: in order to sell your home, it has to be energy rated, including your applicances.... Holy cow! Do we live in Russia?
This is so Utah | 10:51 p.m. June 29, 2009
Wow, I already have 2 fans!!!! I love it!!!!
Global Warming is not about brainwash, it is time to lean and recognize what are we doing wrong and leave ignorance and cowboy thinking away "if you are not with us, you are our enemy...doesnt work anymore, it is time to talk fellas!
It is not about being "liberal" or "conservative", it is about to do something better than not doing nothing about the place WE live on it.
Global Warming is there, soon or latter, but is there, and WE are helping to get it sooner, it is not about A NATURAL PROCESS ANYMORE, WE ARE HELPING TO GET THIS NATURAL PROCESS FASTER.
It is not about Gore's movies, because politicians want to get more money for their pockets, doesnt matter righ or left side!!! and you dont get that!!!

I think is better for our future generations, better quality of life, we buy our homes with sacrifices and what we do...WE TAKE CARE OF THEM, same thing with our land...WE TAKE CARE OF IT...simple.

I dont care about environmentalist or Mr Gore, I care for what I CAN DO!!!
Darrel | 10:57 a.m. June 30, 2009
Wow, so instead of just trusting what people say, I actually went to NASA's website, and they say Global Warming is real. In fact they say the atmosphere has NOT cooled down, and they are UNSURE as to the Sun being a factor in this.

Please name one study, one organization that is not funded by Exxon Mobile/Shell/Chevron that really debunks Global Warming.
To This is so Utah | 10:51 | 2:17 p.m. June 30, 2009
Human caused climate change is a lie. It's about power and money and it is working. You keep on wasting your time trying to change the climate. I'm going to spend my time on issues that really count.

I don't care about environmentalists or Mr. Gore either. I care about the survival of this country and my childrens future. That is why I am going to do everything in my power to send Obama packing next election. Hopefully he hasn't totally destroyed us by then. Obama is a lot more dangerous than global warming.
This is so Utah | 2:39 p.m. June 30, 2009
Good point Darrel !!!

to "to this is so Utah 10:51"...Climate change is happening as a "natural result", did you get that? BUT...with OUR help is speeding up, instead of taking 20 years, it will take 10..go it, or need apples to understand that?

I dont think Im wasting my time to change climate, like you I care about my kids and education, health, save money, live a good life, BUT also I need to remember that I need a place to live, a safe place to live and if there is something out there that can help to live better and have good health I take it, simple. It is time to take care of each other, we live in a selfish world, where "me" is first, "me" is second and "me" is third and so on....but if we dont take care of OUR home, OUR planet, OUR land, there is not going to be future for next generations.
If you want to vote Obama out next election...good for you, that is called democracy, for now Im sorry. Have a good life, be happy, take care of your land.
Jamie Carpenter | 2:07 p.m. July 2, 2009
Large bills like this Energy Bill should require a minimum of five years of research, reviewing all the options and implications before passing through the politician’s pen. Please vote NO. I support funding research of the options and implications before making new laws.
Global Warming | 8:10 a.m. July 4, 2009
Mars is also warming...are we to blame for that too? Perhaps one should consider the sun as the true culprit or simple warming, post Ice Age. Writing of Ice Age, reminds me of the scare of the 70's. Scientists actually believed that another ice age or mini-ice age was likely. Some scientists today believe that scenario is still likely and far more threatening to society.

If Al Gore actually believed in man made global warming, he would massively downsize his home and not allow for his celebrity benefit to have permitted EACH individual performer bring his/her OWN private jet creating a massive carbon footprint. Since he doesn't believe it, based on his actions, why should I?
Randy | 4:58 p.m. July 6, 2009
Now we have scienfic evidence to the contary. What do you think they will do now.
K | 9:41 p.m. July 22, 2009
How the heck does this create a "21st century global economy" by forcing new sources of domestic energy with the legislation?
Aaron W.  | 3:36 p.m. Sept. 9, 2009
Darrel, Dr Richard Lindzen of MIT just come out with a 15 year long study on the trapping effect of CO2 on out going radiation. His study concludes that CO2 does not trap heat the way the scientific community thought it did. He states the IPCC's estimate on the effect of CO2 on the climate has been overstated by 6 times. Go research it. 2nd James Hansen of NASA is one of the worst scientist in the world, he's falsified several data bases for temperature records and had to correct them. Go look up the hottest year on record. It's not 1998. Also you think that the oil companies fund research, it's the other way round the environmental organizations are the ones funding research. Research that too. I encourge all of you to check out wattsupwiththat and climatedepot, they are really good websites.
