I agree with you!!!

Dear Anonymous | 3:32 p.m. June 24, 2009
Collie is comparing learning the playbook to his learning a language. He said nothing about comparing the actual physical act of playing to learning a language. You need to read what is written and not twist the truth. Learning the intricate play book and learning a language are both mental disciplines. Then you have to execute what you learned.

To Hero of Canton, what a hate filled person you are. Your life must be truly miserable.

Hope every BYU and Utah player suceeds in the NFL.

If he can stay healthy I think he has an excellent shot at succeeding.

Now why don't some of you write on the subject. You probably flunked the high school writing test because you couldn't stay on subject, therefore you have to throw in comments which have absolutely nothing to do with the article, and then you think you are so cute.

Obviously you are a little slow on the uptake here...My Response was not a typical BYU VS Utah topical advancement for the rivalry to stick it's head in this column. I may 1st be a BYU diehard...but 2nd I am also a Utah fan...3rd a big fan of Urban Meyers...4th a Kyle Whitingham fan...5th a Bronco Mendenhall fan and last but not least a 49er's fan...So where is it exactly that you in your expert opinion feel you need to admonish me for going after someone who made a ludicrous comment about a very good player in a decently written article. It was bad enough slamming one former BYU player but no... not two in the same paragraph...especially when he knew not what he was talking about.....sort of like your situation. You might want to go back and read the posting....then maybe light and knowledge will begin to come forth in your life. Big clue....I even noted the time so it would be easy for you to find.
To Any BYU Hating Yewt | 4:44 p.m. June 24, 2009
Article quote: "Quarterback Peyton Manning, the three-time NFL MVP, and coach Jim Caldwell like what they've seen from Collie, who shined during the Colts' rookie mini-camp in May. He earned praise for running precise routes and his pass-catching abilities."

Did you catch that? (no pun intended)

They LIKE Collie's PRECISE route running and his ability to CATCH the ball.

Actually, Yewts around the world should be intimately familiar with these aspects of Collie's game because, after all, he's destroyed your secondary for years.

Hate the guy all you want, amigos, but the dude's got talent and it looks more and more every day that he'll go a long, long ways in the NFL.

Signed -

Love and Kisses...

Hey Utes (that would be the classy Utah fans, not your knuckle dragging, neandrethal cousins, the "Yewts"), I agree with some of the other pro-Collie comments on the blog.

It's nice to see some of you guys actually admit you respect Collie for his talent and not just talk ridiculous smack about "magic happens" or some other garbage.

Thanks.

I'll return the favaor and say that I also wish any Ute in the NFL, or trying to make a team for the first time this year, best wishes.

After college, your guys shine, we all shine.

Collie is a hack and he has a big mouth that makes the worst comments at the worst time. So keep running your nonsense about learning a language and how it (doesn't) compare to football and maybe you will be blessed on the field for taking care of buisness off it.

What a joke."

Sadly, dude, your joke is on you but you're so clueless you refuse to see it.

Really, why don't you go ask your mom for $10 so you can go visit the corner arcade? And remember, at 34 years old, you're supposed to make your own bed in Mom's basement bedroom.
The Almighty Done It | 5:13 p.m. June 24, 2009
Collie is a good kid, and I know that by the power of JC he'll be the rookie of the year, and one day the MVP. Amen!
PikeUte | 5:20 p.m. June 24, 2009
I'm a die-hard Ute fan but simply want to say congrats to Austin Collie for putting himself in the middle of this great opportunity.
He bugged the heck out of me at BYU but I've always given him his props as a player. I think the Colts are a perfect fit for him and with hard work I can see him really having a good pro career - especially with Manning throwing to him.
That being said, back to what's important - Go Utes!
I're read through this board and | 6:10 p.m. June 24, 2009
I'm seeing BYU fans getting after BYU fans. About half of you guys are first class and I know that you wish the other half would go away...the same half we (Utes) wish would go away. Then again, we have our share too and I apologize for them.

Best of luck to all MWC players trying to make it in the NFL.

Go MWC!!

To S Gavenman | 6:40 p.m. June 24, 2009
Collie not only played 3 years at BYU helping bring a ton of success, he also served a mission. He is older than most NFL rookies because he DID keep his commitment and then some!!
Howard S. | 6:42 p.m. June 24, 2009
"He has a good feel for spatial awareness."

Funny... a great euphemism for Collie's pushing off skills.

The photo is interesting | 7:29 p.m. June 24, 2009
It would be fun to know what Manning is saying. Collie doesn't look happy and Manning looks rather intense. I never thought I would see Collie's mouth open with nothing coming out of it.

Great pic.
Brettski | 8:23 p.m. June 24, 2009
Good luck to Austin.
Hilarious | 9:39 p.m. June 24, 2009
Very impressed by the well wishing Ute fans throughout these posts. And hilarious whoever posted this: "Caption: 'You really want to wear your hat that way?'"
Howard S. | 10:11 p.m. June 24, 2009
What has Collie's record against his chief rival at BYU?

Oh right... 1 win, 2 losses.
Some Class | 10:18 p.m. June 24, 2009
Between the comments from Ute fans about the Dave Rose article and now this I have to say that Utah fans are showing some class. That's refreshing. We Cougar fans should do the same. I for one wish Austin Collie well as well as Kruger. I'll be watching Baltimore close this year with Haloti Nala, John Beck, and Paul Kruger all on the same team.
Steelers | 10:25 p.m. June 24, 2009
Collie will be fine making catches in the preseason and practice. He will have a bit more of a difficult time when he looks up and sees a Polamalu coming across the middle. People tend to drop more passes in those situations.
To: Howard S. | 10:11 p.m. | 10:59 p.m. June 24, 2009
what was the utes record against BYU over the last 3 years? That's right 1-2.
Re: Huge Colts fan: | 8:52 a.m. | 11:06 p.m. June 24, 2009
What? Wasn't it Rob Morris starting LB that lead the Colts to a Super Bowl win? Ungrateful fan. He did more for the Colts then Alex Smith as done for my 49ers. Again how many utes have won a super bowl?
Re: UTE ALUM | 11:09 p.m. June 24, 2009
Who are you referring too, never heard of the dude...
Re: 10:11 p.m. | 11:40 p.m. June 24, 2009
What is the Utes record against BYU by year for the last 20 years?

Oh right... in the last 20 years Utah has had a losing record against BYU exactly ONE TIME, that would be 2006-2008 at 1-2.

Convenient of a Cougar to pick those three years.

1 year 1-0
2 years 1-1
3 years 1-2
4 years 2-2
5 years 3-2
6 years 4-2
7 years 5-2
8 years 5-3
9 years 5-4
10 years 6-4
11 years 6-5
12 years 7-5
13 years 7-6
14 years 8-6
15 years 9-6
16 years 10-6
17 years 10-7
18 years 10-8
19 years 10-9
20 years 10-10

If records before 1989 are meaningful to you, I suggest we consider the all time record which favors Utah by 20 games.
re: re huge colts fan 8:52 | 2:15 a.m. June 25, 2009
considering your a niners fan, George Seifert won two superbowls coaching the niners and he is a Ute alum. He even managed to win one with that playoff choker at QB named Steve Young.

It's refreshing to have a female on these boards even if she selectively uses stats to tell the story she wants to hear. Her convictions are certainly charged with passion for her team. Though irrelevant, it is refreshing.

That's awesome. Good luck Austin.

Re: Ute4Ever!!!! Uuuu know the boys from tds...they just can't find a way of talking about their kiddies without smacking about how a Ute made their boy good?!

Oh well, just consider the source of their "being" and you can see why it happens!!

Yes we do like to see our boys succeed...Even Kyle Whitingham derseves his time in the spotlight... and we are mighty proud of him too. He truly is The Whizz of Red&White and does make you boys look good...Great job picking out those great new uni's last for last year too. Have to admit they did improve the team overall.
Re re: Huge Colts Fan | 9:40 a.m. June 25, 2009
Wow! I am not a Utah fan so I don't care how many have won super bowls... I don't understand why you would care to remind me that Rob Morris came back from one of his numerous injuries to once again lead HIS worst defense in the NFL against the run, to a super bowl victory. Wasn't he the super bowl MVP that year?
Anonymous | 11:43 a.m. June 25, 2009
So Austin "Push Off" Collie is playing with the big boys now. I wonder if the officials will let him get away with it, now that he is a nobody once again.
Wow | 7:02 p.m. June 25, 2009
Some of you don't play well with others, do you?

Hmmm, Austin had a great college career. He ran great routes, had great hands, and apparently knew how to be physical and still stay this side of the refs' judgement.

No one will know for sure till he straps it on against stepped up competition, but so far, so good. I like seeing a photo of him taking practice seriously. Except the hat. But with what he's making already, yeah, he can wear his hat however he likes.
Music Lover | 7:21 p.m. June 25, 2009
I am happy for this young man. I hope he does well in Indy, the land of confusing freeways.

Does anyone know if he can play the harmonica? This would further endear him to his teammates and the media. CBS and others could feature comforting post-game locker room scenes, with all of the team, in towels, gathered around Austin while he serenaded everyone with a harmonica tune.
Re: Music Lover | 7:27 p.m. June 25, 2009
Yes, I agree. This is what the collective American psyche needs in these difficult times.

re: re huge colts fan 8:52 | 2:1 | 10:38 p.m. June 25, 2009
Yep, great coach, but the difference he was on the side lines and never threw a pass or ran for a touchdown. Dude look good on camera, just like a current 49er player who lacks some skills... I guess he was to only ute who got an education and put it to use.

Again how many former ute "players" who suited up won a super bowl? Go ahead and list make your list.

BTW Young a choker? I am sure the label choker will fit perfectly right next to his several MVPs and Super Bowl MVP and HOF credentials.
Re: re: re huge colts fan 8:52 | | 7:52 a.m. June 26, 2009
Dude, chill out. Young would have succeeded in the NFL regardless of what university he attended. He is a Mormon, hence, BYU. Young is what he is...competitive and athletic with the right build for an NFL quarterback.

With the number of Utah players in the NFL now, someone will be on a super bowl team.

Dude, chill out and think before you spout.
Re: Re: re: re huge colts fan 8: | 8:08 a.m. June 26, 2009
Too funny. I saw that super bowl...I saw 22 guys making their contribution to the win. Young was certainly didn't do it by himself. As the above poster adeptly put it...dude, chill out!
Jealous | 8:27 a.m. June 26, 2009
Love him or hate him, Collie is no doubt living most us posters dreams. In 30 years how many of us will be able to say that we caught passes from one of the greatest QB's in the games history? I mean unless your one of those dudes in the Favre's Wranglers Commercial than probably not.
Good Luck Collie, the Colts really need that fourth option, especially when clark gets his annual injury.
Go Colts, Go Utes!!!
Re: Jealous | 8:27 a.m. | 1:29 p.m. June 26, 2009
Well stated. For those who love him, how long will it be before he (Collie) says something to the media that embarrasses himself and/or his team? As long as he is on the bench he won't be in the media. Problem solved.
RE: Re: Jealous | 8:27 a.m. | | 1:52 p.m. June 26, 2009
Don't think he ever embarrassed himself and/or his team. Sorry he bugged you.

Looks to me like magic might still be happening.

For the record, I wish I could blame the cougars recent humiliation at the hands of the Utes on magic.

But that was a sweet kickoff return.
Thanks hero of canton | 3:31 p.m. June 26, 2009
It's good to have some comic relief from the fringe. If you are released on the weekends don't forget to take your medication.

blah blah blah bla-blah. This article is about Austin Collie and the Colts. NOT about recruiting or records or which team had bigger gnads. Good luck Austin! Thank you to all of you who posted relevent comments. To the rest of you, please don't waist all of our time by posting stupid comments.
Re: Re | 10:43 a.m. July 6, 2009
If you look back that many years, that's the # of wins, Utah vs. BYU. Utah is listed first. It basically shows that you have to go back 20 years of games in order to show that BYU and Utah have the same amount of head to head wins. The Y has takes the cake in the 80's, but overall, Utah has it by 20 games.
CougarKeith | 8:57 a.m. July 8, 2009
Collie is going to have his head handed to him on a Silver Platter! I feel sorry for the "Team Player?" who really came through for BYU and the program by leaving early. He will learn the hard way he should have stayed in school another year!
John | 10:17 a.m. July 12, 2009
CougarKeith - You sound bitter. I hope you're just being honest . . . but you sound bitter.
