It is puzzling to me why so many people here have accused the LDS Church of urging its members to contribute money to pass laws to take away the rights of gays. What law was passed to take away their rights?

LDS - I think that's what many in the South asked why it was wrong to have both White and Colored drinking fountains. The Blacks didn't get more water or more access. What's the big deal?

In Saudi Arabia, Christians can't build churches. I imagine that when Christians ask permission to build a church, Saudi officials suggest that Christians don't deserve "special rights" just for them and if they want the benefits of public worship, that they attend a mosque like everyone else. The Christians will say that since they are not Muslim, that that doesn't make sense. The official may tell the Christian that they CHOOSE to be Christians and that Saudi Arabia won't provide Christians with "special rights" based on their lifestyle choices. What Christians do in the privacy of their own homes is one thing, but why should Saudi society, which was based on Islam, have to change to accommodate Christians' chosen lifestyle? The Christians may also say that they pay taxes and their tax monies are being used by the government to give government benefits and protections to Muslims while they are denied those same benefits and protections. This falls on deaf ears because they CHOOSE to be Christians rather than being Muslims.

Here's a question: why do Mormons get to decide what's "moral" and what isn't?

LDS - Society would have laughed at that notion 125 years ago. Perhaps we LDS need to remember that the term "Christian" was defined by Christians centuries before Joseph Smith:

* Belief in the Athanasian Trinity (The Nature(s) of the Godhead)
* Calvin's TULIP
* A Closed Canon etc...

Do we accept THEIR definition of the requirements to be a Christian or do we claim that title for ourselves because we believe in Christ and rely on his Atonement for salvation? Should we be submitting to the subjective requirements of others?

Gays want the same. They too want to have "marriage" because they do EVERYTHING that straight married couples do...except having children biologically related to both (something which MANY straight couples either can't or won't do). Why are infertile couples allowed to marry when they have no more of a chance to produce kids than a gay couple?

If you cannot follow God's plan, don't ask God to change it, you made a choice to deviate from that plan in hope of a destiny somewhere else than with God. Don't ask me or anyone who does not accept your deviance to be more gentle or more accepting. It's your choice to be different from the normal, live with it!

LDS - Didn't traditional Christianity say the same thing to Brigham Young and John Taylor regarding polygamy? BY & JT were were deviants in their eyes.

I knew a woman name Nancy who used to work at the same place I did in Nevada. She was from California and besides being a lesbian for many years of her life, she was also very active in gay rights. However when I knew of Nancy she was no longer lesbian but went back to living a normal life. I asked her what made her change her gay lifestyle and become straight again. She told me that she saw every single one of her gay friends both male and female (which were in the hundreds) die from Aids. She was the only one who survived! She knew that God was trying to tell her something. She told me that she knew that being part of the homosexual gay life style was wrong and that God didn't approve of it. I hope all you Gays are reading this. Next time around it may be your turn.

While it is clear that the Bible, Book or Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants reveal that homosexuality is immoral, they also strongly condemn divorce. In fact, according the scripture, to divorce and re-marry is to commit adultry. Why are people so accepting of one, but not the other?

As is said in many local Church administrative circles: "Can't do that; won't do that; ain't happenin' here."

Next subject please.

a note to Janeen, the Church isn't some internet dot com company that is swayed by web site propaganda. For those so-called Mormons who feel the need to soften the law of chastity better back off before you find yourself a "former" member.

If you don't like Church policy on homosexuality then leave for heaven sake! No one is begging you to stay. The Lord didn't alter his commandments based on the protests of ignorant people but he did offer (and continues to offer) salvation to all who follow Him.
