Shannon Larsen stands alone outside Hogle Zoo Saturday as part of a one-person demonstration calling for changes to elephant captivity. Sponsored by the group In Defense of Animals, elephant-awareness events took place in seven countries. Hogle Zoo, which houses two African elephants, follows standards set by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
