Question: Is Glenn Beck Mormon?

So Beck is the new voice of Mormonism. More Mormons truly follow him as a prophet than President Monson. More Mormons discuss his ideas and repeat his words. Outside of church (though I'm not sure even there), more Mormons have his thoughts on their minds and revel in his works and his "mission." Now that is sad.

Glen is great! His manner might be a bit abrasive at times, but most of you would not condemn that in one of your friends, rather, you would look beyond it to what he is actually saying. He's still right about most of his content. We NEED more like him speaking out! It doesn't matter what religion he is!
The person before me got it right. Reid is a true embarrassment to the church. When the liberals LIKE what a member of the LDS church does, notice how that person's religion is never mentioned. Mitt....they couldn't leave the subject alone! No doubt, that is why all the attention about Beck's religion!

Glen Beck is not a perfect man, but then, neither are any of us. His approach on his program is not perfect, but who's is? He does however, touch on those matters that are important to our lives and our culture. That is what matters most, as opposed to his personality. Let's give credit where credit is due.

I find it amazing that fellow members of the church think that because he doesn't fit their judgemental mold of what he should and should not be doing or saying that he is not a good example of a Mormon. Fine to disagree with him, but most "good Mormons" wouldn't dare express their true selves to their neighbor the way Glenn does to a national audience. I prefer genuine expression over hidden hypocrisy.

I love listening to Glenn Beck. He tries to live his religion. He is not perfect, but he is trying. He believes fervently that this country, the United States, was established for a divine purpose. That the Founding Fathers were divinely inspired and foreordained to bring about the Constitution and set this Nation on its prophetic path. Glenn is a breath of fresh air because of his honesty. He is not a shrill for either the Republicans or the Democrats. I can safely predict that Glenn Beck will be doing his radio and TV shows long after Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are mere footnotes in broadcast history.
Hendry1154 | 2:54 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen Beck isvfull of bigotry, hate and self-rightiousness. Hmmm, I guess that would answer the question. Glen is certainly mormon.

It is truly sad if Glen Beck is the new face of mormonism but then again if the shoe fits.
Hey Des News! | 2:55 p.m. May 30, 2009
Look @ the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

They just did a poll on the most disliked radio personality. You should try it

Also, they have a daily article called "Vent" very clever local stuff. Where people just send in their vents.

Learn from what works!

Glen Beck speaks (shouts) words of warning of where we in America are heading with the present far left liberal agenda. It's time for more Americans to wake up and speak up for common decency and promotion of "In God we Trust" that made America (at one time) a strong nation. Thank you, Glen.
Haters are Out Today | 3:04 p.m. May 30, 2009
SO many of the commenators today on Glenn Beck are wags and wonks from outside Utah, and are the move-on dot org liberal crowd who drink the Socialism-Fascist Obama kool-aid. Glenn is a great guy. That comes through in his program. So is Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. They're all good people. So when they aren't afraid to get up and tell the "folks" want's really going on that the liberal media doesn't talk about. So when you see the ratings for all these people beat the pants off of such troglodites as Keith Olberman or Chris Matthews (who?) there must be a reason. O-Reilly is a practicing and believing Catholic. He's a man of principles and faith --So is Hannity. So that's something they all have in common. I bet Olbermann is atheist or agnostic humanist. We all know what Rachael Maddow is. There is a correlation. As far as Glenn goes, he's someone that would be great to hang-out with and eat Peanut M&Ms with while discussing Pelosi's latest outrage.
i love the guy! | 3:05 p.m. May 30, 2009
he'll just add to the fall faster for sure! duh
Playing with Fire | 3:05 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glenn Beck is not someone I would promote as a Mormon. He will say anything to get ratings. His visit to the View where he admitted he lied only after being confronted showed what wild ambition he has. More mistakes are bound to come and he will turn on the church and anyone else to get ratings, money and fame.

Anonymous 2:15 "We have Glen Beck and we raised $20 million for Proposition 8 in California.
I'm so proud of who we are."

Tell us really what it is that you do that you are so proud of?
Grimble | 3:18 p.m. May 30, 2009
If Glenn Beck is such a great American why does he keep having secession fantasies with Chuck Norris?
WOW! | 3:45 p.m. May 30, 2009
I dont understand the conservatives. Conservatives like to preach intolerance and exclusivity and call it "family values" and they do it transparently and in the open. Because of this they are losing moderate America by the millions. You want to get rid of Prop 8 Liberals? At worst, all you have to do is wait 20 years for the hard core conservative base to die off. Why arent you guys going to the middle? How did the once so savvy republican party become so self defeating. I cant stand Beck but the one thing im sure about as a liberal is with enemies like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh who needs friends?
Go Beck!!! | 3:49 p.m. May 30, 2009

My hubby is a recovering liberal & we have tickets for the comedy tour...can't wait!

Recovering liberal, why?? Liberals just took power they're polices haven't even taken affect. While conservatives ruled the white house for the last 8 years and Congress for 14 of last 16 years and mess of the country.

Was your husband better off under Clinton or Bush?

I see his show once in awhile, he just thinks he's funny. Now Wanda Sykes... that girl is hilarious.
Anonymous | 4:02 p.m. May 30, 2009
We love Beck...his raido show drives me nutty...nowever, the TV show is different and worth listening to. 3rd most pop cable show...

I don't think he's a voice of all that is bad/gloomy..he tells us what is going on..truthfully...

The ladies on The View treated him as they treat any other conservative, like "a bag of dog mess", (to quote Whoopie)..They are so snooty we quit watching them....Joy is just mean, Sheri has no brain of her own, "Barbara The Adultress"..well, not worth listening to, the others are semi okay..

Glen tells you he is an alcoholic who is doing his best everyday. And he loves his faith.

"HARRY REID" IS a MORMON TO BE ASHAMED OF AND CONCERNED ABOUT REPRESENTING "ANY' FAITH...

Glen Beck rocks!!

OK in my book | 4:10 p.m. May 30, 2009
Like what he says.... don't always like the way he says it. If the libs hate him, then he's obviously on the right path. Keep it up Glen.... but please don't write any more books about Christmas Sweaters. Sorry, but that book was not worth the time it took to read it.

MESSENGER | 4:24 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen might be a mormon, but I have send him many e-mails pertaining/questions to his religion, but he never answers, yet he says he is on the side of truth.
But that is tipical of someone who talks a lot yet can,t back up what he talks about
He sure could not handle the liberal "view" program.
When Barbara asked him...what is it that you really believe?...how come he could not answer? A real Christian would explain his Faith in the real Jesus of the Bible (Matt 11:27; Luk 10:22)
UteFan | 4:32 p.m. May 30, 2009
Harry Reid and Glenn Beck share the same religious beliefs and I find that absolutely wonderful. The Church is for EVERYONE.
Anonymous | 4:42 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen Beck has the same level of credibly as an Mormon missionary. There a great video on the Net about lying for the Lord. "Don't give meat when milk will do."

If you're asked:"Do Mormons believe they can become gods?"

"We believe Christ is our savior."

Funny how people twist things. He never "admitted that he lied", because he did not lie. Im not sure which show you were watching.

what an amazingly intelligent decision maker you are! ... but then again, that's the way many of you guys go through life ... NEVER THINKING, NEVER WANTING TO THINK ... because you know that plenty of church leaders and talk show hosts are ready to do it for you.. theodore roosevelt talked about "cold and timid souls" who never win or lose because they are afraid to live life in any kind of engaged way ... my condolences..
DC Insider | 5:06 p.m. May 30, 2009
Last time I checked political opinions are not covered in Temple recommend interviews. I find Glen to be energetic and frank on what he thinks. He's entertaining. After all, that's the business he's in. Why are you so upset about one voice in a loud crowded room? Glen Beck isn't the only on with his own style of BS and it's not like the all on the liberal side are simply humble, patient, long-suffering saints. They've got their BS too. When an article comes along and you don't agree with the BS in the article you can express your BS. Opinions shouldn't extend to someones worthiness. I don't agree with Jon Stewarts' BS but I find him funny and imagine him to be a decent guy, same thing with Glen Beck, Al Franken, Rush Limbaugh etc., I watch and listen for entertainment, not to be educated. You see I have my own BS and it's not threatened by anyone elses. Judge not lest ye be judged. Disagree without being disagreeable. It's not personal, it's just BS.
Immigration | 5:08 p.m. May 30, 2009
Many members of the church from South America who now live here are offended by Beck's views. However, if you actually listen to him, he states that illegal immigration is an obvious threat to the functionality of this country. Illegal immigration is destroying health care not mention national security. Don't take it personally if you are hear under legal means and you are contributing to scociety like paying taxes and not committing crimes.
Valeriek | 5:12 p.m. May 30, 2009
I am embarrassed by "Brother" Beck: He is a racist "that Hispanic chick lady" and he is stupid. He once said on his program that he is a "thinker" and I just about fell over. The man doesn't have a clue and he gives more reason for non-LDS people to still think of the Church as racist and backward. Shame on Glenn Beck and anyone who watches and believes a thing he says!
Anonymous | 5:14 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glenn Beck and Bob Lonsberry are the reason I listen to the radio. There are no other talk shows like them.
Stalwart Sentinel | 5:28 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen Beck shelf life = 1 year.
Interesting | 5:38 p.m. May 30, 2009
Many people have commented that Glenn Beck is an embarassment to our religion, says inappropriate things, etc... Are you much better? Everybody on this Earth isn't perfect including yourselves! Glenn Beck is awesome and he deserves more credit.
G. H. Skyles | 5:40 p.m. May 30, 2009
Isn't it interesting that all a newspaper has to do is use the word "Mormon" to bring out all the anti-Mormon hate mongers (many of whom claim to be Christians)? I agree with Glenn Beck much of the time and sometimes think he is a bit over-the-top. Some don't like what he says, and some don't like his style, but he is what he iswarts and all. He has never claimed to be perfect. He has certainly caused me to think more seriously about the Constitution of the United States, and that is something that very few do any moreespecially those in government.
I'm not one to judge his faith, | 5:43 p.m. May 30, 2009
but I'm one Mormon who does not listen his show. I wish he was a little less apocalyptic, because I don't see the benefit in that, except to boost ratings.
Not A Comedy Tour | 5:43 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen Beck claiming to take part in a comedy tour is an insult to the likes of Dustin Diamond, Dane Cook, and Jim Carrey in The Mask. Help for sarcastically challenged: He's not even as good as the worst "comedians." He is not funny, therefore comedy is impossible.
D J | 5:48 p.m. May 30, 2009
What is wrong with fellow members of the church who bash each other! We all have come from different walks of life. We all have a lot to learn as we grow. Glen is a newer convert, but a solid one, with a great talent and opportunity to be an influence in society, calling out, and not behind their backs, some of the terrible actions made by corrupt politicians, organizations, and governments. Has anyone ever heard that the constitution will be "hanging by a thread"? Thank goodness that we have members of the church "standing for something", like the constitution! Keep up the good work, Glen! You may be one of those who helps to save that constitution, as has been said will happen in these last days, if it is to be saved at all. Wake up saints! Be kinder to one another, and be thankful for someone who stands up for something worth saving, rather than be one who sits on the side lines doing nothing, except worrying about perfection that doesn't exist in any one us. Besides, everyone has talents, and we get paid for those God given gifts. Stop accusing others for this.

Glenn Beck's popularity is spreading, and I can see why, This is a great article that says he been Googled twice as many times as Pres. Obama. There are over 230 comments...some good, some not so good...but I like this man. He is an American through and through, and not focused on either political party.

He believes in our forefathers as most of us do. We blieve that they were divinely inspired to write the U.S. Constitution. I think he is doing a great service to us as we try to make sense of what our government is doing to America. Go Glenn!!!!

To 'Harry is an embarrassment' --- That is the understament of the year, but I do not see that Glenn Beck is an embarrassment to the Church in any way. He and his wife investigaged many churches before they chose to join the LDS Church.
An LDS member | 6:15 p.m. May 30, 2009
Let's have some unity folks--does it really matter what anyone does for a living as long as it's honest?

We as Latter Day Saints should be fiercely loyal to one another, regardless of personal opinions or individual differences.

I can love both Harry Reid and Glenn Beck very easily because of WHO they are, not WHAT they are.

We get where we want to go by being one.
THEeyepatch | 6:24 p.m. May 30, 2009
Sounds like another Sen. John Kerry. Doesn't know what side of the issue to stand on. He would make a perfect future President.
Glenn has a mission | 6:29 p.m. May 30, 2009
I definately think that Glen Beck is an asset to the church. He has said some extremly wonderful things that knock my socks off. He has also said some things that make me cringe. But he has a heart of gold. I think that is what counts. He is an extremely spiritually gifted guy who has the ability to reach a lot of people who otherwise couldn't be reached. He definately has a mission and I am not sure how he does it. He has got to have a lot of help from above because he couldn't do this alone.
Glenn Beck is awesome | 6:33 p.m. May 30, 2009
I don't exactly agree with everything that comes out of Glenn Beck's mouth nor with some of the tactics or tones he uses on his TV or radio show.

But I am very grateful that in his own unique way he is trying to promote what he feels is right for America and benefit mankind.

Knowing that he is striving to do so with high standards and following his principles is commendable when one considers the world we live in today.

Glenn Beck lives LDS standards and has gained a tremendous TV and radio following. He and others are living proofs that you can be LDS in this world and be successful without compromising your standards.

Way to go, Glenn!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Low standards Beck | 6:38 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glen Beck speaks to the "un-informed" and then dis-informs them. His characterizations and names he calls people are extreme at times. Beck should/could have higher standards of truth and accuracy. For example, the claim/insinuation that Barbara Walters and Whoppi Goldberg had (against the rules) reserved seats on the train. Why not just ask Whoppi/Barbara instead of telling lies to your listening audience? There are many examples of Beck's "colorful" characterizations of people, but for some reason DN wouldn't let me post them. Why not DN?
Beck's fine on meds | 6:39 p.m. May 30, 2009
His chasing the six figure income now for 3 decades has affected him. Even still, to stay on the air, he must push the evelope, but I guess if American culture is corrupt we are all apart of it.
Buckley conservative | 6:42 p.m. May 30, 2009

As a conservative who remembers the intellect of William F. Buckley, I am embarrassed by Glen Beck's rantings and ravings. As a LDS member who remembers the compassion of Spencer W. Kimball, I am embarrassed by Glen Beck's rantings and ravings. Glen Beck does not represent my conservative outlook or my spiritual views.

As an entertainer he makes alot of goofy faces and makes up most facts.
Missouri Mormon | 6:46 p.m. May 30, 2009
On Becks popularity in Seattle, (Not good amoung the Mormons)thats because Washington state is full of a bunch of fuzzy headed Liberals, Mormons included.
I don't see how you can be a liberal and a Mormon.
Love Glenn in CA | 6:47 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glenn can come to my home for dinner any time. I love his show and the way he lays it on the line, informing us of what our government is doing to this country, telling us what we need to know. I learn more from him than from the newspapers I used to read here in San Francisco. Any LDS who doesn't like him has obviously never watched his show or listened to his radio program. He has warned us to get our homes in order- not be in debt and store food. Sound familiar? What has Harry Reid done lately to make us proud? Fortunatley no one is broadcasting his membership in the church!! Keep up the greast work Brother Glenn! And if you are ever in the Lake Tahoe area or SF East Bay- bring your family over for dinner.

Bravo Beck!
Indiana | 6:57 p.m. May 30, 2009
I certainly an NOT embarrassed by Glenn Beck. I think he shows how savvy and human a good LDS person can be. I pray he continues in this great path...
Grimble | 6:59 p.m. May 30, 2009
Whoopi called him a lying sack of dog mess because he LIED, and they showed him lying on tape! It had nothing to do with attacking him because he's a conservative. He LIED in order to appeal to his rabid audience and get ratings, and they caught him in the lie.

Plus he's playing brinksmanship with rightwing Mormon apostasy of the Bo Gritz kind by promoting alarmist Cleon Skousen stuff, suggesting people should "have the guts" to dodge their federal taxes, and warning people hysterically that there's a communist in every cupboard.

He also parts ways, quite sharply, with the LDS Church on the positions of immigration policy and climate change.

And to the person who praised Bob Lonsberry: you know he was exed, right?
Kira | 7:05 p.m. May 30, 2009
Glenn Beck Mormon? Considering what I've heard him say I'd say he's the epitome of Mormonism.
Maybe he does lie, | 7:14 p.m. May 30, 2009
but so does the liberal media. He doesn't "lie", he just stretches the truth beyond the ability of his flock to know the difference.
yah gotta love him | 7:14 p.m. May 30, 2009
Yah gotta love him. His views are the views that my neighbors had when I grew up in Utah: racist, dogmatic, know it all, and smiley.

He is Mormon alright. Go for the money guy!!! Go!! Go !!! Go!!!!
Effie | 7:59 p.m. May 30, 2009
ALL would do well to watch his TV program (FOX NEWS Cable - 5:00PM Eastern) Obviously many who have made negative comments have not (really)watched him. He is doing an excellent job of alerting and educating the public on important topics. He does it in an informed/ sincere (yet, entertaining) way. He is a unique individual. What's not to like? He's a regular guy with a TV program doing a great job! I love Glen Beck (detest Harry Reid). I am embarassed that anyone knows Harry Reid is LDS - quiet the opposite with Glen Beck. I appreciate Beck, RUSH, Hannity, Levin, O'Rielly, etc. They are the only 'media balance' you can count on! We are blessed to have FOX NEWS! (Noticed how they are beating all the others networks - there is a reason - sensible people who want to be informed are constantly finding out where to go for 'fair and balanced' news. Go, BECK, Go!
