Dear Anonymous,
Call me an alarmist but Adolph Hitler started his rise to power as dictator of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi) in the same manner as Barack Hussein Obama. You should be alarmed NOW, not give him the chance or time to amass power.

What did free market deregulation give us? It brought about the collapse of our economy. Why do conservatives want to destroy America? How did we grow this crop of uneducated homegrown terrorist?

Business bought gas meters from the lowest bidder, only to charge Utahans for their mistake. Business has taken wealth form retirees. It's distributed contaminated beef and peanut butter.

It raped us with high gas prices.

We have KBR in Iraq, who after killing 15 with bad wiring, still gets contracts. Contractors cannot account for billions in Iraq.

Business does such a great job. Call AT&T or Comcast. I can call IRS and be talking to an English speaking person in eight minutes. My mail get to me on time. I have seen government workers rescuing, hikers, climbers, boats and stuck kittens too. We had four government workers, police gunned down in Oakland. Government air traffic controllers do an wonderful job as do those guarding our boarders.

Next time your having a heart attack call Beck.

Immigrant | 2:30 p.m. March 30, 2009

This is not the same country that i immigrated to (1967) and getting different by the hour. Someone complained about prez. Obama being called socialist one day, fascist the next. I would, with some knowledge of these terms, call him "national socialist"-remember that one? Despite repeated proclamations to adhere to free markets and capitalism his actions speak otherwise (control of financial institutions, auto industry, stopping Mexican trucks at the border) many of them a sop to the unions.
Who do you trust more: Glen Beck or legistrators Dodd, Frank & Co.?

I agree with Mark, Glenn is our modern day Paul Revere. I only hope he can wake-up the 40% of the electorate that has been sleeping the last forty years. Let's set term limits and get these theives out of Washington and in the jails where they belong.
JP | 2:31 p.m. March 30, 2009
Glenn Beck has stated that he is becoming more libertarian by the day. The NYT does a disservice by using a broad stroke of "conservative" for everyone in this article. There needs to be a distinction made so people can understand that a true conservative is not embodied in clowns like Hannity and O'Reilly. A true conservative would not stand for foreign interventions like Iraq, or gutting the Constitution with travesties like the Patriot Act and warrantless wiretapping. Glenn Beck has not come around to all the principles of a true conservative, but it seems like he might be on the way.

Yep, we've got a little guy with a little mustache taking over...beware... Even Germany is warning us !!
We best wake up and do something...and I have no idea what...

We like Beck because he is main stream. He is concerned, and he is starting a grassroots movement...912 project. check it out.

Typical liberal character rants. For a body of people who preach tolerance, I find you most mean-spirited. Nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites.

My definition of Liberals? - Low Self-Esteemers who tear down rather then grab life by the sack and actually make a contribution to society without having to advertise it with a bumper sticker to make them seem self- important.

Shut up and get to work.
J.C.Alvarez | 2:35 p.m. March 30, 2009
He is terrific...Keep up the good work.America wake up before is too late.Obama will ruin our country to
a banana republic level.

Well Larry its just about here. You won't have to wait much longer. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its probably a duck. A President firing a companies CEO looks like a duck. Its just the beginning. If anyone thinks the government can run health care just look at the past weeks news about the United States Postal Service a great example of government run programs.
Matt | 2:37 p.m. March 30, 2009
Hey, guess what? It was aggressive deregulation that got us into this financial crisis. Why don't you help yourselves to an economics book because you're talking like a sped.
KM | 2:37 p.m. March 30, 2009
I have never seen so many responses on this blog. Glenn Beck must be doing something right to have this much interest. I say, take back our country from the weasely, uncaring and uncharitable left.
Anonymous | 2:38 p.m. March 30, 2009
I am a Canadian and I don't get Fox News where I live. I used to watch Glenn Beck on CNN and now that I can't I miss him. He is a guy who is sure of who he is, what he stands for and has clear values. He loves his great country and is fighting to keep its foundation as stated in the Constitution. I absolutely love him!!!
re; Bronx | 2:40 p.m. March 30, 2009

"a-ha, Utah. Do you guys even have TV? Mormons...what a joke"

lol, coming from the Bronx, that bastion of intellect.

Bastion = Void or hollow bastions are those that have a rampart, or parapet, only around their flanks and faces, so that a void space is left towards the center.

Thought I should explain the word for you, genius

Wow. This one hit a nerve. 1493 comments as I'm writing (and I bet that about 1480 of them are just idiots spouting gibberish).

I keep hearing this preserve-us-from-socialism thing, and it puzzles me a bit. I'm not advocating socialism, but I don't see how it's objectively a bad thing.

There are plenty of countries in the world with socialist economies that are prosperous and every bit as peaceful, happy, and healthy as the US (if not more so). For myself, I can't see how socialism would be so much different. Under socialism or capitalism, I'd still have the same job and probably the same pay, I'd have health insurance, pay taxes, my kids would go to the same schools, I'd buy the same groceries...

How is that so alarming?

Is it a relic of the Cold War, where socialism meant communism and the communists were our enemies?

Is capitalism simply God's chosen economic system?

Anyway, I'm no fan of Glenn Beck's line (me being a more liberal sort), but he can't be any worse than Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh.

Whats up? Is the" Obamanation" going to make America into an "Abomination of Desolation"???
He's on cable | 2:45 p.m. March 30, 2009
Let's not get ahead of ourselves saying his show is being watched by the common man, the one downtrodden by the economy. Those people don't have cable.
Gator | 2:46 p.m. March 30, 2009
Pat you are probably listening to that highly intelligent non-partisan Keith Olberman. Its your kind of thinking that is bad for the United States. If you think the truth comes from MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, then you are very naive.

You, who do not agree with Beck, do not want to allow him his freedom of speech - is this another example of the fascist that the Democrats have become???
Socialism | 2:51 p.m. March 30, 2009
You people are confusing socialism with Soviet style communism. The vast majority of socialist countries operate democratically, you know. Chew on that, Becksters.

Frank Burns | 2:53 p.m. March 30, 2009
What a country! What kind of idiots are so-called Americans anyway?? First we have a critical Presidential election run as if it were American Idol, and half the bozos in this country fell for it; now our Elected One proposes to cure economic woes by spending unimaginable $$$$$ and printing it up - just like in pre-WW2 Germany. If you have debt, do you get out of it by spending even more?? Guess if you're the Federal Gov't doesn't matter; just print it up; except the Chinese are already onto that and won't take paybacks in worthless currency.

Another thing that seriously concerns me is of course our MSM - tirelessly promoting Obama - are they immune to the very policies he seeks to impose? Are they so wealthy no taxation, no stifling of freedoms affect them? If so, they are fools; if not, they are tools, useful idiots.
don't just sit there! | 2:54 p.m. March 30, 2009
Germany is warning us about the road Obama has us on...GERMANY FOR HECK SAKES!!! Can you hear the jack boots hitting the ground,,??!!

Obama seems to be getting shorter and growing a little tiny mustache?? can't you see it??? He fired the CEO of a PRIVATE company for hecks sake!!! Be prepared..be very prepared!!!

Beck is becoming that light in the wilderness with all the bull we hear on the other stations!! O'reiley is so afraid of stepping on anyone's toes he's becoming a bore. Hannity is still okay and we listen to Rush on the radio. Beck's the best.
Freedom | 3:04 p.m. March 30, 2009
It's funny seeing the anti-Beck comments they perpetuate the reality of left thought. No substance all name calling. To J Sparrow and others of your mind power can you actually come up with an intelligent debate on where Beck is wrong or is your 1st grade antics all you can give?
Jeff R | 3:05 p.m. March 30, 2009
Glenn Beck has the most unique way of seeing the US. And thats the way it should be seen. Not from the bs that washington is giving us. DO a little reasercher before you all make misenformed comments!

***Bob The Builder:

Look up the word "Gleichschaltung" and you will realize we saw a good example of it with the Obama administration's ousting of GM's CEO.

I keep telling you guys that Obama is a National Socialist. As a former Evil White National Socialist myself I know a REAL National Socialist when I see one.

Good Afternoon America,
I cant believe we are letting this happen. Are there no real men left in our great country. Cant anyone see that Obama is using Rush, Sean, Bill, and Glen. they all cry socialism and Obama makes them out to be nuts and the public buys it, as he slowly takes our money and liberty. The best thing we can do, even if YOU are not a republican is vote in the republican senators and congressmen to stop Obama. Gridlock is the cure for Obama. Then the economy will heal itself naturally. Stand up in the midterm election's my fellow Americans or we will lose more of our individual wealth and prosperity under this President than any in history. This is not conspiracy theory. Obama knows he only has two years. And he is pushing. If YOU care about the freedoms and opportunity that made this country the envy of the world take a stand and vote out the congressmen who rubber stamp Obama in the midterms and vote out the most dangerous president in history in 2012

Bob; I went to an "editors" meeting! (With the public!) Of the only considered "conservative paper" in Sacramento Ca! My question was why or how do all newspapers seem to use the same phrases and words! And WHO decides WHAT is used! He could not answer me! He only said well it is not a conspiracy,if that is what you are implying! I said well I can understand that if a paper such as comes-out of NewYork like the Times! For NATIONAL news you basically COPY it! And then file in the "local news"! And he says ya! it is something like that!(My concern was the "media" calling the "freedom fighters" in Nicaraqua Contras!) Only refering to them as "freedom fighters" by saying President Reagan "calls them" freedom fighters, and then continueing to call them "contras"! Interestingly THEY NEVER challenged the "communists"! For calling their wars to subject people to communism! As "wars of liberation"! But would just repeat it no questions asked!!!!! (But none dare call it a conspiracy!) WHY?? PS: I never did get an answer as to WHO WAS DECIDEING THESE THINGS AS MENTIONED!!
Americans Welfare | 3:35 p.m. March 30, 2009
Recently in France a group of laid off workers held the CEO hostage demanding better severance pay. Millions of Europeans have marched in demonstration to pressure government in economic crisis. Here we just watch TV and then gripe and moan like small children in a grocery store who don't get what they want. People are losing there homes, retirements, jobs, and futures and I haven't heard of one single protest against Wall Street.

We have become complacent and take what they dish out. We are guilty of being trapped and satiated by the welfare of luxury and creature comforts and are unable to create change for ourselves and make politicians and business accountable to we the people.
VONBLUE | 3:37 p.m. March 30, 2009
Folk here are somewhat confused as to what Fascism, Nazism and Communism is.

Anyone that believes there is ALWAYS a dichotomy between Fascism and Socialism doesn't know anything about either.

To this very day people claim Hitler was a Communist/ Socialist--they are wrong. I have even heard Glen Beck say this (Who I actually admire greatly and enjoy his show).

Just research it for yourselves and you just may come to the realization that Obama is using the N.S.D.A.P. template.

Regardless, this country is in deep trouble and the window of opportunity to save it may have already passed.

Is this getting more comments than President Hinckley's death?
If this article stays up long enough, it might out-do all the prop-8 stories, combined.

"Obama era" Give it a rest Beck!! You are as relevant as BYUs Quest for Perfection season.

We had 8 years of Bush who got a surplus from Clinton and turned the economy into a disaster. And all I hear is the GOP complain about Obama. Obama did not put us in this mess its your deregulation of banking system that allowed them to take massive risks.

This guy gives the LDS a bad name. He needs to climb in his bunker and seal the door before he does more damage.

I'm sorry, if the 'contention' he creates is not of the Father, then who is it from?

Mormons love Beck because he is one of them. We are the most clanish group of people in the country. Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, etc. all play to the conservative Mormon crowd, but they are not one of us. As Mormons we really need to grow up.
True Patriot | 4:19 p.m. March 30, 2009
Article quote: "He added later: "I say on the air all time, 'If you take what I say as gospel, you're an idiot.' "

Meaning that Beck doesn't think that what he's saying is garbage, but that if one simply hears what he says and believes it WITHOUT checking it out yourself, you're an idiot.

And you would be.

But....check out much of what Beck says and you'll see it's true for yourself.

It is absolutley disgusting what liberals and greedy lawyers and politicians and the mainstream media have perverted, yes "perverted" much of America into becoming in the last 30-40 years.

AWESOME!!! | 4:21 p.m. March 30, 2009

This article is published today, TODAY!, and it already has 1,536 comments on it!!!

Ya think what Glen Beck has to say to America has touched a nerve?

Liberals are already seeing Beck and the vast masses of conservatives as a force to be reckoned with.

Go Beck, go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm astonished at the number of comments and especially how negative they seem to be toward Beck. Relax folks. He isn't going to start the Third World War or a new Dark Age. People use programs like Beck's the way a drunk uses a lamppost - its for support, not illumination.

Dantana, I agree with you all the way. Our country is in deep trouble with absolutely no end in sight. Obama is pushing his agenda as hard as he can while he has the opportunity, because I think he knows that eventually the American people will wise up and vote other people into the House and the Senate that will not put up with his agenda. Glenn Beck is absolutely correct in raising the alarm against our current government. Government's role in our society is simply to regulate, not dominate, our every day lives. Congress has very successfully deregulated everything to the point that the average American citizen can barely survive on their incomes. They have also devalued the dollar to the point that it is practically worthless, and we wonder why it is so difficult for us to support our own families. The two big political parties need to go by the wayside and we need to really look at some of the other political parties that are out there. Most of their agendas support the Constitution, whereas neither the Republicans or the Democrats do.

Re: lng.
Why don't you just say it. I LIKE BEING TAKEN CARE OF. It doesn't sound that bad. Unless--- You want to create a business or have dreams of having more than just the basics.
Socialism is the road to communism. We have lost a lot of blood for our freedoms and some people want to give it away because "being taken care of" sounds so nice. Grow up and be a man. Better yet, grow up and be an AMERICAN.
Wow! | 4:41 p.m. March 30, 2009
All these people saying that Obama is eroding our freedoms. Kind of like FDR eroded our freedoms with the New Deal. Kind of like Lyndon B. Johnson eroded our freedoms with Medicare.

Obama isn't the guy who got us involved in two wars, engineered the weak dollar policy that ultimately saw our economy go to pot, let health care costs spiral out of control, and sold our environment in the name of capitalism. You want to talk about presidents taking the country in the wrong direction, let's talk about it.
Basinite | 4:42 p.m. March 30, 2009
I am not at all familiar with Glenn Beck, but any one who can inspire this sort of 'panic button' reaction from from the left has got to have a message of some substance. Perhaps we would all be well served to at least give the man's words an in depth consideration.
a long time ago | 4:43 p.m. March 30, 2009
I took a class or two in politics at a university. The textbooks were fine, the lecturers were fine, and the whole atmosphere was one of learning. Hard tests. Fair tests. Made you read. Made you think. Made you know something.

Fine.

To hear people confuse socialism, communism, fascism, democracy, etc. saddens my heart. Obviously, many people have not studied political science nor have they read widely. But they do know that what they hear on tv is true.

So sad.

Beck is an entertainer, disguising himself as a learned man, or a common man, whatever sells that day and at that moment. He will continue to have good ratings until the shine wears off, or he paints himself into a corner. Rush will not tolerate having Beck, and soon Beck will attack Rush.

That is the way it is among the bulls. They have to strut and talk their stuff. They also have to have it their way.

I wish I was President of these here United States, just so I could say in a press conference, "Who? Beck who? Really? Does that Rush guy know that someone is cutting his grass?"

Oh, I would love it.

Another elitist who thinks he is more intelligent than all the others posting. I am truly amazed that the liberals are the only people who have intelligence. College education does not instill wisdom. I attended college but that doesn't give me the right to put down others. My dad once said "there are educated fools" and I believe that is true. Glen Beck may be just an entertainer to you but to other he may be someone who is proclaiming truth to power. If you watched today you would have seen him in action against the Attorney General of Connecticut.

Glenn Beck is an American. Obama is Stalin or Hitler smelling up the White House. If we don't get our act together and vote the democrats out of office we will be just another country run by a dictator and the Constitution will be so much waste paper.
