I think that Cats and Aaron are arguing over semantics. The statement quoted by Aaron says that

"the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence has SOME determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality." (Emphasis Added)

From what I read, this seems to indicate that there were more factors involved, and it says nothing about whether being valiant in the pre-mortal life automatically results in receiving the Priesthood in mortality. For all we know, millions have been born and died without these blessings because they were so faithful there that they didn't need receive them here.

Note also that this is a scripture-based doctrine (see Abraham 3:22-23) and applies to ALL of God's children. Blacks were not the only ones born in a time and place where all of the blessings of the gospel would be available. The important thing to remember is that we cannot judge whether we are talking to one of the "noble and great ones" by the color of their skin.

I think there are some much better black role models than Barrack Obama. Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, and Clarence Thomas come to mind. I think it would be excellent to hear the diverse opinions of these upstanding gentlemen as well as those of the President. Open mindedness is important as we were all told in the 1980s.

I'm a Christian and love everyone regardless of their color. I can't understand why anyone would want to call them self anything but American if they were born here. Most black people that I know are American not African American. After all I don't call myself German, Indian or Irish American because my kin folks were from those countries so please don't call yourselves something other than what you really are. It sounds to me like those who call themselves African or some other kind of American regards them self as African or other kind of country first and this saddens me.
