There is no lie they won't tell,

there is no name name they won't call her,

there is no word or phrase they won't twist,

there is no hypocrisy that will shame them,

there is no amoumt of screaming wailing gnashing of teeth, no amount raving and ranting will be sufficient in attacking the opposition,

there is no evil that will spew from there heart and lips they will not use to destroy those they oppose,

no amount of persecution will ever be enough,

and all because they fear a little lady from alaska.

To wit , just read the comments of extreme left to this letter.

By the way, anyone who has a desire to serve and meets the constitutional requirements is qualified to serve.

After all, it is government BY THE PEOPLE, isn't it?

CW Said | 5:28 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
You babbled a lot of utter nonsense, CW, but THIS was sublime:
"Looks like a little bit of jealousy and A LOT of fear if they have to go against her in another election."

Oh my goodness. You gotta be pullin' our collective legs. Parah Salin as the 2012 GOP candidate for Prez is our fondest fantasy. PLEASE, dear Lord above, let it happen. That would be the last we hear from the GOP for decades to come.

Ha. Ha. Ah-ha-ha. That'd be swell.

A while back someone said caribou barbie is 'not stupid, she is not incompetent, and she is not a "drama queen", and that she knows you can't see russia from alaska. Well, you can see russia from alaska (little diomede and big diomede islands) and I figure that, quite honestly, sarah is an incompetent drama queen.

Are you saying the media were responsible for burning down Palin's church? If so, that would certainly be media bias. Do you have proof?
@ Some Truths | 6:35 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
You said, "By the way, anyone who has a desire to serve and meets the constitutional requirements is qualified to serve.

After all, it is government BY THE PEOPLE, isn't it?"

Yes, it is. And to quote Palin's not-quite-accurate comments about the bridge to nowhere, the people said, "Thanks, but no thanks."
To "Some Truths @ 4:54 p.m." | 6:50 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
So... You can't actually defend her, you can't offer any evidence that she was misquoted or misunderstood, no, you just grumble about how mean the "left" is.

Don't you get it? We're heaping much-deserved derision on Ms. Palin because the original letter-writer said she was "persecuted," and the rest of us, those who paid attention to what people actually did and said during the election, find that statement completely preposterous.

Telling the painful truth about someone seeking election to a high public office is only "persecution" to people who are clinging to irrational fantasies.

Bostwick | 6:52 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
You Americans really do practice vicious blog politics! How about some discussion of the issues? All you do is throw spurious slanders at each other all day long, and then complain when you get hit by some of the flying muck.

Sarah did cop it during the campaign, but let's not pretend she was some innocent little flower. Almost every word which came out of her mouth was a conservative insult buzzword.

I do not recall a single incidence of her discussing policy (apart from the embarassing fruit fly thing). We heard she was an expert on energy policy, but the only thing she had to say was "drill baby drill". Wow! Didn't that just change the way we view the world! :-)

If she came across as vacuous (and she did) she can only blame herself.

However four more years of "victimhood revisionism" and she might just get somewhere in politics....or entertainment.

"Were Obama's kids attacked by the media like Palin's kids?"

How would you "attack" a ten year old and a seven year old? There's a lot of difference between those two very young kids and 17 year old Bristol. For what could the Obama kids be attacked? Oh, yeah, I forgot, they're SOCIALISTS! Further, never was Bristol Palin "attacked" by anyone. It was her mother's hypocrisy that was deservedly attacked.

and a lot of blather

i was with ya until you said 'a little lady from alaska.' i thought you were going to say 'a little lady from Arkansas.'

here's some truth: when comparing relative intelligence, political stature, accomplishment, and international savvy, hilary has had it much worse.

you then say "just read the comments of extreme left to this letter."

here's more truth for ya: those comments aren't coming from the extreme left, they're coming from the middle, the right and the left. sorry pal

also, you say "anyone who has a desire to serve and meets the constitutional requirements is qualified to serve."

that is true.

but here's more truth: we're better off with the 'most' qualified candidate. haven't we had enough of lowest common denominator administrations over the past 8 years?
what about the kids? | 7:51 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
Re the idea that the Palin kids were savaged by the press while the Obama kids were left alone--The Obamas didn't really use their kids in the same way Palin used her children (taking them onto the ice at a hockey game in hostile Philly comes to mind here). I've no doubt that Ms. Palin is a wonderful, caring mother. But at times it seemed like she was using those kids as props.

The writer is lost in Conservative la la land! The fringe, right-wing fanatic, doesn't do well with reality! Sarah Palin is an intellectual lightweight, who brought her woes upon herself! I can see Russia from my house, qualifies me as a foreign policy expert! Wow, double Wow! No, Sarah Palin didn't really say something like that - did she? Yup! Sadly, she's George W. Bush in a dress/ makeup - an affront to reason, sanity, competence and credibility, who is capable of leading this nation to the moose grille/shopping mall and designer clothing boutique! Beyond that - she's a loose cannon! Sarah, do our troubled Country a big favor - stay home in Alaska, and save yourself and family, a lot of grief! Your family needs ya and the good ole boys, can't get enough of ya - Bubba & Company will follow you over the hill, and through the woods! Why be a fish out of water down here, when you can be, the Big Cahoona up there? America can't afford another catastrophic mistake - that's what you would be! Maybe I'll come up for visit, and have some elk chili with ya? Best of luck in Alaska!
ICanReadDeseretNewsFromMyHouse | 9:37 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
Everyone was mocked or had unflattering stories in the media. Palin would not be whining about this if she had won. She said that her family should have been off limits. I agree. So why trot your family in front of the media knowing full well that your daughter's pregnancy would have been exploited? Was she naive or just plain ignorant?
GTO | 9:58 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
The news media protects Democrat politicians and would never treat Hillary, or any other democrat politician the way they went out of their way to ridicule and demean Palin. Democrats get soft ball questions and are NEVER asked the kind of questions they asked Palin! Hillary was never asked about cattlegate, whitewater, rose law firm or the missing White House papers by the newsmedia. They protected her from any scurtiny whatsoever! If a conservative politician had done even a fraction of the crimes Hillary did, they would not only not hold public office, they would be in prison! Shame on the news media, including Katie Curic. No wonder more and more Americans reach for the remote to switch channels when she is on. I did along time ago. I now get fair and balanced news from Fox news.
Re: GTO | 11:53 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009
The news media scrutinized all the candidates to some degree, but unlike the other candidates, Palin was a nobody to most of us. McCain wanted her to be a blank slate on which he could project a "compelling narrative" of standing up to the dark side of the Republican party. But as it happens, that narrative painted only a small part of the picture that is Sarah Palin. Turns out, it's not that hard to go head to head with a governor from your own party when his approval rating is 20%. Turns out, Palin only said "thanks but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere after it turned Alaska into the poster child of pork. Turns out, Ethical Sarah collects per diem for living in her own home and makes the state of Alaska pay for her children to travel to events to which they weren't invited.

By the time Palin entered the 2008 election picture, we had the basic dirt on Clinton, Obama, Biden, and McCain. We didn't have the dirt on Palin until the media dug it up, but the fact that there was so much so near the surface doesn't speak highly of her.

A Cry for Help from Rural Alaska. Is Anyone Listening?
14 01 2009

Four days ago, a cry for help went out via the Bristol Bay Times. Many of us have known that residents of Alaskas rural villages are having a hard winter. The weather has been unusually cold, and prices of heating oil and gasoline have been astronomical. Add to that a disastrous collapsing salmon fishery in Bristol Bay that left residents in that area heading in to winter with less than usual, and you have the makings for a humanitarian disaster.
...
So, what is the State of Alaska doing to help its citizens as they face these conditions of scarcity that are beyond what many of us can imagine? The answer is, nothing. According to Mr. Tucker the lack of heating oil and food and the resulting threat to life did not count as an emergency to the State of Alaska.

Palin got what she dished out | 6:45 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
Palin accused Obama of "palin around with people who would target their own country with terrorism".

Turns out she also paled around with such people. She accepted a blessing from a minister who had a woman thrown out of her own home and community in Africa, merely because she belonged to the Wiccan religion and refused to join his evengelical christian church.

She accused Obama of not viewing America with the same reverence as good people like her do, yet she gave the keynote address to the Alaskans for succession from the United States this last year.

In my mind this not only hypocracy but shows a lack of intelligence to accuse other people for something you yourself are guilty of.
Ray | 7:11 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
She had a 95% approval rating in Alaska and was VERY popular among both liberals and conservatives in that state (I know a whole family of Alaskan libs who adored her and didn't want her to win because they loved her as their governor). I do think the media shortchanged her, but that has been the lot of any conservative in the media these days. So she should probably just shake it off and keep running a great state government. --Ray
George | 8:27 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
I agree with all those that have been posting that Palin is evil-incarnate.
I can't wait for 5 more days for Obama to be President.
I can't wait for the democrats agenda:
abortion - anywhere from 1 second to 9 months - pro-choice.
gay marriage, not this crap about civil unions.
Fairness doctrine - deseret news, you better start being prepared to shut down operations. No right-wing agenda from you people.
military, having served under the Carter and Clinton presidencies, can't wait.
Soon to be out of Iraq, Afganistan, etc.
Mostly, socialism. I'm lucky to make $30K a year. I can't wait to get paid more from all you rich people.

Go Obama.
George | 9:35 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
Bravo C.w.

But I am wondering, if after 6 months to a year of the Obama presidency, will the Palin haters out there really wished she and McCain had won the election.

Time will tell when some of my comments come to pass, in addition to universal health care, open borders with Mexico, and "coffee" houses (as in the type in Denmark).

Time and the promises of the dems will tell.
Re: George | 10:36 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
At least we won't be starting any more wars, devaluing our currency any farther, trampling on the human rights of anyone we think might be a terrorist (whether a US citizen or not), burning more bridges with our former allies, and taking any more steps to diminish our standing in the world. After eight devastating years with an ideologue as president, I'm glad to see a pragmatist take the reins. People get caught up in the niggly details of each party's social agenda, but there are much larger issues looming.

I don't think anyone has said that Palin is evil incarnate. She is self-serving, power hungry, egotistical, duplicitous, and incompetent to lead our nation, but she's not evil incarnate. I could have supported John McCain if he'd picked a running mate whose leadership style resembled our current president's a little less.
Re: Ray | 11:05 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009
I lived in Fairbanks, AK from Aug. 2005 to the end of Sept. 2008. People were thrilled to have Palin elected because she was not Frank Murkowski. She made a big deal about all the good things she was doing for the people of Alaska, and a lot of us (including the media) were willing to buy it because it was such a relief compared to the previous governor. She lost a lot of goodwill among her Democratic constituents during the campaign for two things: her baseless attacks on Democrats in general and Obama in particular, and the discrepancy we perceived between her words and her actions. After promising her full cooperation in the legislature's investigation of the Monegan firing, she allowed the McCain campaign to sabotage the investigation. She promised ethics and transparency but has repeatedly sought reimbursement for questionable expenses. She blatantly misrepresented her record on the "Bridge to Nowhere." The list goes on and on. The media gave her a pass before, but they will never be so irresponsible again. Palin did enjoy 95% approval at one point, but a lot has changed since then.

As for wars, we soon can expect the democrat pacifism at its finest. How many embassies or americans will be killed before Obama responds? I suspect in the thousands, if he will respond at all.

As for Palin, she is like any other self-serving politician. But how much are you willing to accept from any other politician; I suspect alot.

As for McCain and or running mate, you have the evangelicas and other religious fanatics out there. They weren't willing to accept some of the baggage that either Romney or Gulliani had. some of that dealt with either abortion or gay rights.
So now, we have Obama, thanks to these religious fanatics. And Romney's and Gulliani's policies are going to be insignificant as compared to Obama.

In the long run, expect pacifism, socialism in 5 days from Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Under their care, expect a new Constitution Congress to eliminate some of our rights we hold dear.

and praise Liberals for they are the chosen ones, and are as pure as the driven snow. They see all things, they feel all things, they are able to stop a subsonic bullet. Listen to them, love them, for they are the keepers of the earth.
And their just so gosh darn loveable.

I love it when people suggest that Sara Palin is the future of the Republican Party...She'll put them back another 10 years further then W.

I realy like her and how she handled ehr Son and Daughter and work.

Sarah Palin Rocks.
You have it all wrong... | 7:33 a.m. Jan. 16, 2009
Sarah Palin didn't have a bad interview ever. I think many people read her wrong. The woman is very intelligent and capable. The problem at hand is the inane questions that were asked her as a candidate. How would you answer questions that should really be directed to your boss? How would you answer questions that are not only rediculous but condescending? What do you read to make you qualified for your job? Duuuuuh...What did you want her to say? I think we are too quick to judge people in a yellow light or is that green for envy? It is not easy to speak to a crowd of millions who are looking to crucify any "Republican" candidate. I look forward to the next four years as a person from the left works at tough challenges and has to face this angry crowd of spoiled children. We live in a very privileged society and have had some very difficult stumbling blocks in our path but this is a gladiator society and it will ruin anyone who isn't corrupt. Look out Obama!
Hey Donald? | 1:59 p.m. Jan. 16, 2009
If you are that dumb and then decide to run for public office, you can count on being "persecuted" as well.

This woman was not fit to be VP. She had so little to offer not to mention a subpar intelligence. Remember what that got us the last 8 years.

Sounds like you two have something in common: your IQ.
My two cents | 12:41 a.m. Jan. 17, 2009
Palin was pounced on from the get go. Her lack of experience was a key focus in the media while Obama's flimsy resume was never examined.

Do I think Palin could have been VP? Most likely, as long as McCain survived his term(s).

I blame the GOP for not putting forward better candidates. Getting stuck with Obama and Biden will come back to haunt us. Mark my words.
AB | 8:22 a.m. Jan. 17, 2009
Palin had more experience than Obama, that a fact! The media made her look like some stupid barbie doll, and thats a fact! She was persecuted and thats a fact!
Re: AB | 9:29 a.m. Jan. 17, 2009
It depends what you count as experience, I guess; but the fact remains that Palin has very little experience with the kinds of things presidents and vice presidents have to deal with. She has very little experience with foreign policy matters, macroeconomics, military issues (the Alaska National Guard notwithstanding--nice try), or homeland security. And unlike ALL the other candidates, she hadn't shown an interest in these areas prior to her VP candidacy or taken the time to do her homework about them. I dispute your assertion that Palin was "persecuted." She was called on the carpet for her utter lack of preparation.
The Civil War | 2:46 p.m. Jan. 17, 2009
It's closer than you think!

Are you liberals ready to back up your big talk?

Your system doesn't work. It never did. Taking from the productive and giving it to the lazy is called socialism/communism. And it's never worked - anytime, anywhere.

Those of us who work hard, pay our taxes and put more into this lousy system than we have ever taken out of it are tired of your insults.
Re: uncannyman | 3:11 p.m. Jan. 17, 2009
are you serious? I think Palin's political career when it comes to core national steam is pretty much over. She will do just fine, staying in the State of Alaska's political arena.
naive | 3:33 p.m. Jan. 17, 2009
I thought we elected a president some time ago; these comments sound like we are still in campaign with Palin as candidate.
She may have the opportunity to offer herslef as a candidate in 2012 but potential candidates who have so polarised views are seldom chosen.
Can't we forget and just enjoy Tina Fey?
SS | 11:17 p.m. Jan. 17, 2009
I didn't think Palin was ready to be VP, but I also didn't think Obama was ready to be President (and I still don't).

As worried as I was about something happening to McCain, leaving the White House to Palin, I'm even more worried about Joe Biden somehow ending up as our president. This man is a documented plagiarizer, liar (claimed a Master's Degree he didn't have among other things), and just seems to lack the common sense to lead anything, let alone the free world.
Phoebe | 8:28 a.m. Jan. 18, 2009
People! The letter was sarcastic humor; he wasn't serious. Man, it's hard to have faith in the intelligence of the electorate when you read so many comments here that missed the entire point of the letter.
Re; Phoebe | 8:31 p.m. Jan. 18, 2009
Good point, but what I think you are seeing is a very divided, very angry electorate. It's a powder keg and wouldn't take much to explode into a full blown civil war.
Re: Re: Phoebe | 12:11 a.m. Jan. 19, 2009
Let's not blow things out of proportion. I don't think we're at risk of civil war. Yes, the electorate is divided, but that will probably always be the case. Obama hasn't threatened to do anything worse than anything Bush actually did. We're going to be okay and we can even be peaceful about it.
No More Gomer Pyle n White House | 3:15 a.m. Jan. 19, 2009
She did not lose because of the Media she lost because the country had 8 years of Gomer Pyle running the country into a needless war, huge deficits, and two recessions and thought having another one a heart beat from the presidency was just too dangerous.

All you Sarah Palin | 9:47 a.m. Jan. 14, 2009
This is nothing more than the standard left-wing Taliban approach to politics -- since you know you can't win on issues, you resort to smarmy invective and ad hominem attack, to avoid having to advocate a losing position.

That's because snotty, snooty personal attack has been substituted for actual substance in the liberal playbook.
-------------

You mean like not being patriotic enough, or a terrorist, or a Muslim, or angry black man (Rev. Wright), or comparing him to Paris Hilton, or ....

Losing position? FYI Dems are now in control in the House, Senate, and White House.

Any politician that promotes "abstinence only education" while her teenage daughter is pregnant should not be allowed to influence domestic policies.
Mary | 7:02 p.m. July 23, 2009
Hi everyone. I think we are all crazy to read and enjoy these statements. We are the nuts not Palin or Obama. Although, I am for the Palin side. WE NOW HAVE A ONE TERM PRESIDENT AND I BELIEVE THAT IF PALIN SHOULD DECIDE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT, I THINK SHE HAS A GREAT CHANCE OF WINNING. GOOD LUCK ALL YOU OBAMA PEOPLE. YOU...... WILL...... NEED..... IT.!!!!!OH YOU CAN'T BACK OUT NOW......
