I'm suggesting everyone in this country read the sobering and most revealing book: AMERICAN THEOCRACY, BY KEVIN PHILLIPS.

This book was released just a year before the Economic Big Bang of 2008. I've just completed reading it, and on the whole and given the historical context of this past year... the book was absolutely prophetic, and apocalyptic if we don't move to regulate oil/gas trading, getting religion out of politics and getting back to being a 'true' manufacturing/industrial producing nation and unwinding the 'financialization' of America and making 'rentier' income subordinate to manufacturing/industrial-based income economics.

In other words, get back to a real 'worker' based economy instead of continuing with the lazy speculative driven 'finances' economy, which surpassed the manufacturing/industrial income producing economy a few years back, thereby guaranteeing the collapse of our economy, as has previously happened with Spain, the Dutch and Britain. We are now in the exact historical death throes of our economy exactly as has played out over the past 400 years with the aforementioned economic powerhouses of the past.

Read the book. It's sobering, revealing, enlightening, and if enough read it and apply its warnings, maybe we can save this nation from itself.

attention, the new president is set to spend even more than the last one. Who cares! The most intelligent people are in charge and they know better than we that to balance a budget one must spend themselves out of the deficit.

to see how long it will take the neo-cons to say that this new deficit record is either Bill Clinton's fault or Obama's fault.

And our president-elect has promised to make it even bigger.

It must be fun being able to ignore reality.

@I'm just waiting 4:57

I'm not a neo-con, but can I say it anyway?

It's all Obama and Clinton's fault.

I guess it was the liberals that deregulated industries to the point we have been screwed out our ears? Wake up Utah! Nobody wants to accumulate any more debt, but our fine reps over the last 8 years have followed Bushes budget recommendations and signed on like mad dogs. What about the debt incurred during the Reagan Bush years? Seems to me it was Clinton that paid it down and left the office with a surplus, which was quickly spent within a year. Of course it all went to the wealthy corrupt scandalous individuals that have created this mess we are in now!!! Our fine state leaders also had the money to prevent the cuts we will be seeing here in Utah, they spent it on the capital renovation (25% of budget for bond payment) and failed to save the rest for rainy days. Billion gone, over $450 Billion surplus last year alone. Wake up Utah, stop voting your religious bias, wake up.
