Utah Bill | 4:00 a.m. Jan. 13, 2009
It was in the news last week that Texas may eliminate parole for non-violent and non-sex offense cases. I think Utah should consider doing the same.

How about eliminating enforcement of laws criminalizing the possession of controlled substances?

That would save taxpayers millions, and the citizens would be safer from the secondary effects created by waging the war on drugs.

Prohibition is more dangerous than the drugs themselves.

Right, that's all we need--making drugs easier to get so we can have more DUI fatalities. The only good thing about alcohol is eventually people pass out if they drink enough and can't start their car. Marijuana gets them high and they drive around high. There are too many cannibis-related accidents to consider marijuana use a victimless crime.

Also, instead of firing UHP troopers, let's look at first firing all the wannabe cops in the state administrative agencies like DMV and DOPL. Why do those agencies have their own police force and why do you need to carry a gun to investigate car dealers contractors? Let the consumers regulate those dealers and contractors by allowing consumers to get their attorneys fees back when they sue dealers for fraud.

decriminalizing drugs will not make them easier to get!and how many actual cases of accidents relating only to marijuana are there?nail anybody under the influence that causes injury or harm to others.DUI laws do that without making liquor/beer illegal.we should make people responsible for thier actions not try to regulate those actions.we would save millions by decriminalizing marijuana alone.
