Big name tax delinquents

There is already a differentiated local property tax rate in Utah. Residential property is only charged a percentage of the rate charged to commercial property. Establishing a differentiated interest rate and penalty for delinquent taxes would be very simple to establish and enforce. Then again, what is more important, supporting big business or children?

Businesses do not pay taxes. Consumers pay the tax for them. Utah County Treasurer Robert C. Kirk says it outright on page one of the article. Very unusual for a public official to admit consumers are being taxed twice for the same product, but there it is. I imagine Mr. Kirk will be visiting his boss's office today for a dress-down so I would like to thank him for his honesty. We could use some more public officials that are willing to tell it like it is.

Wow, now that we all know how to avoid paying taxes on time expect others to do it. Thanks for telling them.

Church owned properties, though, take the cake for avoiding taxes. Neat move there too.

So we have conservative businesses not paying taxes to our conservative government. Taxes that would be used to support those liberal arms of government like education. And we wonder why we have problems in Utah. We all need to live up to our responsibilities and quit favoring our friends. Good schools make a good state. Good government means consistant enforcement of tax laws. Corruption means helping your friends and shirking your responsibilities and then blaming someone else. I pay my taxes, they should pay theirs, our children should receive the benefit.

pay on time because it's the right thing to do. Schools operate on property taxes. I suspect they could use that $89 million.

It was fun to see that Sundance Institute owned by that scold Robert Redford was on the list. But then adherence to the laws and community good is for others, not the Redford.

I bet that many businesses in Utah operate in this immoral manner. Take the loop hole, guys and gals, and to heck with paying your fair share.

Two companies are exposed for what they are: blooc suckers in our society.
