Office real estate market stagnates in Salt Lake County

60% of the space in our office complex is vacant and has been for months. When
we began our expansion in November the landlord actually wanted to charge us 3
times what we are paying for the building we are already in. When I pointed out
that I could get space across the street for a lot less he still wouldn't
budge so we leased the space across the road and informed him that we would be
vacating this space when the lease we hold on this space expires in March.
Monday he called and asked me if I would be willing to keep the space I'm
in at a huge discount. Too late for us and unfortunately he will be at 90%
vacancy after we leave.
