I clicked on this story but there was nothing to see. Oh well, we don't have to read the story to know what the Obama plan will be. Further run up the deficit worse than Bush did.

I am sure the Senate will put up some "PR" resistance to make it appear they oppose and then if they add some pork barrell spending it will get approved and pass.

Great.

Pump out some scaremongering story to make the electorate brace for the "tough decisions" that our new President is faced with. Blah Blah! Blah!

Translation: Get ready for the government to further mortgage you and your childrens future by perpetuating the ridiculous spending and debt that got us here in the first place.

When the story is actually posted we will see how I did.

re: pretend

Your comments were pretty close if you had not even read the story.

Welcome to Washington Obama--even your own party will hang you out to dry if you do not fill this bill up with some "pet projects" and "pork" for their districts. Then magically watch of their objections simply disappear.

Watch our/your trusty politicians line up for their piece of government wasteful spending so the prices balloons from 800 billion to a trillion or so and then it will be deemed "good" for passage!!

What a joke these politicians on both sides of the isle are.

Remember these times people because, loosely speaking, this is the beginning of the end.

I wish President Elect Obama had some idea of what to do with the economy, I fear it will be another Carter disaster with soaring interest rates and inflation out of control. That will be worse than a recession. All this money printing is insane. We as a society have become clueless and self serving.

The first poster (by the way, it should be "let's" with an apostrophe) didn't even get to read the story, but was quick to condemn, so we know that no matter what Obama does, it will not be the right thing with that person, as I'm sure with many others who will eventually post on this story.

However, even though I voted for Obama, the $15 to $20 increase per paycheck per person that is proposed in this plan will not make me nor anyone with a brain increase their spending. We will tuck it away and pay off bills, neither of which will stimulate the economy. Hopefully he comes up with a better plan to get the economy going than relying on consumer spending, unless he gives the people a lot more money and consumer prices are lowered. Time will tell.
all correct | 2:04 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
everyone makes good points. not everyone will like whoever is pres. most gov. senators and rep. s just want a piece of the pie. self serving. . just like most people would pay off bills with extra money which in the long run would help the country. the government can't seem to grasp this concept. we need to pay off our debt, but no one wants to be the one to give something up or lose a service or a handout. so it may well be the beginning of the end

Actually it has nothing to do with Obama personally--it is just pathetic government policy and these days it is different to tell the difference between the 2 partisan groups.

We have all seen/heard of the movie dumb and dumber right?

I appreciate you at least admitting that Obamas plan is about as helpful as a teaspoon on the titanic.

Bush has been printing/borrowing/spending at a torrid pace and now Obama appears determined to outdo him. It will only temporarily delay the inevitable collapse when China realizes they are tired of buying US debt that we can never sustain/repay.

Check out drudgereport now--China is already flashing the caution lights on buying any more of the US backed soon-to-be toilet paper we call the dollar.
Get control first | 6:05 a.m. Jan. 9, 2009
Before Obama can do anything he has to get control of the government. Get rid of those that don's agree with improving representation and how government has been doing things. Stop meeting with corporate america and start looking at the welfare of the people. Instead of giving handouts to business make business give handouts to its workers. It only makes sense that if the workers were paid well enough they wouldn't have to rely on government subsidies and welfare to live day to day and be willing to buy. And if companies want to outsource jobs and production they should be heavily taxed to import outsourced goods and materials. Also we must stop the wholesale exporting of our natural resources, oil, gas, lumber, minerals, etc., only to have them returned as much costlier and poorly produced products. In other words keep american companies in america or they become non american business with much higher import taxes. And they should not have any rights or protections of american laws. Our major goal should be to export finished products, not our natural resources.
