Yet Another Failure | 2:02 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
A sad example of how religion, the bible and the 10 commandments have failed once again.

Tisk Tisk

You can't blame this one on the liberal.

'Tis true 'tis sad 'tis a pity.
And pity is 'tis true!'

Yet the percentage of priests and ministers that abuse is roughly equivalent to the general, non-clergy, populations of all nations.

But it is wrong to say that religion, the Bible, and the Decalogue have failed once again.

What fails in these situations is the person, and not the abuser's religion, Bible, or Decalogue.

There is an equivalent percentage of abusers in all faiths, sects, and cults as there is in the non-religious, agnostic, and atheist population.

Yet we cannot place the blame anywhere except squarely on the head of individual abusers. The same is true of all abusers.

If child sexual abuse was limited to religious faiths and religious societies, but did not occur in non-religious populations, then there might be some sense in YET ANOTHER FAILURE [see comment #1] making her/his pejorative statement.

What this social evil warrants is attention, publicity, and positive action to eradicate it, not the firing of cheap remarks at it. It is far too serious a matter to be cheapened by thoughtless epithet hurlers.

Please God, keep our eyes open, our minds clear, our behaviour moral, and careful in caring for thy precious lambs.

Shall we examine the failure of the atheist? Does Stalin, Lenin, and Mao ring a bell? Maybe throw in Hitler since he was pretty much godless. How many millions are dead from them?
Yes, religions have their problems. But I would take it anyday over a godless state.
