If your team loses to Southwest Baptist its first game of the season you lose all trash talking rights for the entire season.
It was obvious throughout the game that BYU wasn't playing with any fire or intensity. It was a great scrimmage and a chance to give some of the bench players some extra playing time.
On to MWC play. Let the real season begin.
i'am tired of watching these uninspired byu players!
coach rose may have gotten their attention for TWO OR THREE HOURS when he subed like he did!
if byu had any passion they would be 14-0!
Maybe the solution is for the MWC to make BYU play in the WAC for basketball. It would certainly help the MWC reputation and strength.
The DN should block all comments from fans whose teams have had losing conference records the last 3 seasons.
We have been to the Tournament several times and been to the sweet sixteen a couple of times and the final eight.
What has BYU done since 1991? Nothing. No Tourny Wins. Nada.
Unfortunately for BYU, Tournament wins are the only thing that matters as far as garnering National Respect. I really hope BYU wins a Tournament Game this year. It would help our conference strength ranking. Less bashing and more support for our MWC teams.
Our two biggest problems that need to be addressed in conference are our inability to hit big shots and free throws in the final minute or two and Cummards unexplainable disappearance against big competition.
Conference prediction - we will split with SDSU, UNLV, and Utah. Losing 3 - or 4 conference games if UNLV sweeps both games. We will make it to the finals of the MWC tourney to lose again to UNLV. But 8 or 9 losses will still be enough to get us into the dance as a low seed - where we will make it 21 years in a row without a win against some long, athletic team. Cummard and Tavernari will end up with around 18.0 per game but Fredette will explode in conference play and average 23 to be named co-mvp with Winky.
Re: Go Utes, heaven forbid you let FACTS get in your way....since the title run in 98, the Utes have lost in the first round 1 time, made it to the round of 32 3 times and the sweet 16 1 time, and no elite 8 appearances like you say...
Given the choice, 99% of fans would rather see their team lose a first-round NCAA tournament game, than not get into the Big Dance at all.
Apparently, Utah fans disagree.
They'd rather win a game in the BCI.
