Obama wants pork-free plan
20 comments | Read story
While I like the prospect of a spending bill getting passed that does not have some sort of pork in it, the sad reality is that members of both the republican and democratic parties will still try to sneak a bunch of pork through the process.
Obama will propose a bill that he feels will be in the best interest of the country, with no allowance for pork in his eyes.
However, once Congress gets their hands on the bill, too many of them will try to sneak their favorite pork into bill.
This will include both democratic and republican members of Congress.
They will try various strategies to force President Obama to accept the pork in the bill.
Will President Obama be able to get a pork free bill passed? Maybe, maybe not.
One way is to put the bill way out in the public sunshine so every citizen who cares can look at it.
When a congress critter puts pork in it, President Obama will need to expose who put it in and why.
Keep the tax cuts and let markets decide how they are spent.
An average taxpayer just trying to stay alive.

Utah is dumping $20 billion tax dollars taken from car users into UTA for an insignificant, 1.5% transit contribution to our mobility. Now UTA wants $2.2 billion from the feds. This is nuts.
UTA has a list of 11 rail projects it wants $2.2 Billion to fund. The Governor has such a respect for Democracy that he feels the need to hide the details of UTA's projects. He will not give me details of the eleven UTA rail boondoggles.
An example of insanity in UTA's rail projects, the West valley TRAX extension will cost over $700 million tax-dollars but give only 0.00% impact, according to UTA's Final Environmental Study Report, on regional vehicle miles traveled in the WFRC area. THAT is porkchop on a lard-barrel cost-benefit.
Utah should, instead, lead the nation toward our traditional values. WE desparately need a public review of the costs and benefits of UTah's submissions for the national Infrastructure stimulus.
DesNews should lead in demanding details and debating this critical issue.
UTA transportation will be a God send in the very near future. I wish they could complete these projects much sooner than scheduled.
Sure spending billions on trains will help a relative few who live or work in the downtown area or in new Transit Oriented Design communities along those rails. But, the $20 billion I mentioned above is taken from roads, particularly high-performance freeways.
Also, UTA is cutting back and short-changing bus service in the suburbs. I have seen bus service in my area decline by over 95% since UTA went on the TRAX binge. Most bus routes in the south-western valley have been cut-back or eliminated.
Besides the way train projects are draining away and wasting needed car-user-paid billion$, they fail to connect to our neighborhoods in the suburbs. That is why the progressive bleeding away of bus service in the suburbs has been critical. The bus-rail paradigm that UTA hyped for a decade is a gross failure for most of the Wasatch Front.
Utah values should displace/condemn transit fraud.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT - Utah's secret society, of some richest 90 men, "suck-off the tax payers" daily from the government in pork project's, they are a organization of initiated persons whose members, purposes, and rituals are kept secret. Human groups throughout history have maintained secret societies. The ceremonies of initiation into such a society typically begin with an oath pledging secrecy as to all proceedings of the society, ascribing special obligations to its members, and assenting to penalties for violation of the oath.
Oh I forgot, they call this not pork spending and project's in Utah, they call it "a blessing."
The current owners of the national treasury have more wealth than than they, their children, and all of the grandchildren could spend in all of their life times.
How long will the American people stand by and allow our precious constitution to be trampled into the ground. It is time we take a stand and take back OUR GOVERNMENT.
