Frank at the Game | 7:56 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
I couldn't have been prouder than to have been at THE game, the NCAA Cahmpionship game between Utah and Alabama. The Fiesta Bowl, the FEDEX Bowl, the Rose Bowl are all irrelevant. Our Utes are the ONLY undefeated team in the country. Texas barely sqeeked by a 10th ranked Ohio State Team. Who's Penn State-- losers. Sooners and Gators are post facto. Sabin should give back his coach of the year trophy so it can be awarded to the real Coach of the Year- Kyle Whittingham!!

Way to go Utes!!!!

I don't remember a parade for my Cougars when they actually were the national champions. I'll stay home.

Sorry Blue, but who did the Cougars beat to win their national championship?
6-5 Michigan. By the way in twenty four years the Utes will most likely have one or two more to remember, 1984 was a long time ago. We celebrated that one with you but after about ten years we finally forgot about it and went on to something a little more current to get excited about.

Hey blue you're a private school, your main campus is in provo. Your school will not, does not represent me or the State of Utah. Enough said.

Reasons | 8:50 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
Blue, the reason they didn't have a parade for BYU's mythical national championship is because it was so long ago that there was no internet to get the word out, you couldn't advertise it in the newspaper because the printing press hadn't been invented, and you couldn't talk it up on TV or radio because mankind hadn't discovered electricity yet.

Dude, 1984 was 25 YEARS AGO! That's a quarter century. Get over it - stop living in the past. There's good football being played in 2009.....by the Utes. 1984 is irrelevant.....just like BYU football.

RE: Blue | 4:39 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
If I remember right, TDS did have some sort of celebration in the Marriott Center to celebrate BYU's NC.

It's amazing how memories slip. Some from the TDS say that Utah played in too many close games and were lucky, therefore they do not deserve to be #1. What they are forgetting is that in 1984 they, the TDS, barely beat a bad Michigan team (sound familiar), relied on some luck to remain undefeated against a bad Hawaii team (Kyle Morrell saving the game by jumping over the offensive line), as well as a three point come from behind win at home against Wyoming. The game in SLC that year was no blowout either. So if I am right, the TDS in 1984 won a NC with a couple of close games and some luck. Imagine that. A lot like Utah's season.
One huge difference would be that the TDS did not play a team that year that FINISHED in the top 15 in any of the polls. Utah will have beaten at least 2.
By the way, the 1984 NC helped pave the way for the BCS. Another reason not to like the TDS.
