MWC is a cheesy confrence the Big West is much better Oui

We expect opposing coaches to wash our cars after our inept time keeper fails to start the clock when we have the ball at the end of the game.
And if they don't, then we get angry and start calling them names.

What MWC fans can expect is that BYU will always lose in the first round of the Tournament (1991 was BYU's last win).

What MWC fans can expect is that every few years the Utes will have a good showing in the Tournament.

What WAC fans can expect is that every year a WAC team will have a good showing in the Tournamant.

OVERRATED
Re: USU Fan | 11:07 a.m. Jan. 6, 2009
When was the last time a team from your conference did anything in the tournament? And when was the last time USU did anything in the tournament? Nevada has carried your conference the past five years, and they are way down this year. Last year the WAC put one team in the tourament, Boise St. as a 13 seed and they got worked in their game. UNLV went to the sweet sixteen two years ago and won a game last year before playing the Kansas, who won it all, to a close contest.

And by the way what is the best win for the WAC this year? USU v. Utah at home. USU and the WAC suck this year and haven't been as good as the MWC since Nevada was in the top 25.

USU will been the only team from the WAC to get in the tourament this year and they will get at best a 10 seed and lose their first game.

And UNLV will return to the sweet sixteen, and maybe just maybe BYU wins a game (please for the sake of the MWC)
UNLV | 11:30 a.m. Jan. 6, 2009
has brought respect back the conference. USU will always be an OK team. But that's OK. You are the 3rd option in your own state. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Disco Stu | 12:18 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
Once Disco Stu plays a decent schedule, I'll finally be impressed.
12 preseason home games against poor teams doesn't deserve any type of respect.
Why is Disco afraid to play a decent team on the road?
Remember when he quit CSU to go to Logan? He said the reason why he left CSU was because he knew he could never compete with Utah and BYU for a championship. Bottom line is MWC may not be great but it's better than the WAC. I would love to see Disco play a MWC schedule, the Ags would never have a league record better than .500

How can you call Rene streaky? He fills up the stat sheet every game.

USU is 12-1 with an RPI of 68. Tulsa is 9-5 with an RPI of 103. I know that Dick Harmon will enroll in metaphor-abuse therapy before he'll say a good word about the Aggies. But beating Tulsa at Tulsa is not as big a win as beating USU on a neutral court.
USU Grad | 1:27 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
BYU hasn't won a Tournament Game since 1991. Compare how many Tournament Games USU has won since 1991. Also, please compare the win-loss record between USU and BYU since 1999. Ouch for you, BYU fans
Tulsa | 3:08 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
Would kill Utah State. Watched them both play. Tulsa is much deeper and more athletic.
CALBLUE | 3:05 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
Just started the Conference Season and already whinning from Logan. This is what is great. Win your Conference or Conference Tournament and you are in the NCAA field of 65. Unlike football, everyone gets a chance to win the Big Dance, however I am sure that even if the Aggies made it to the final four they would find a way to cry.
Re: USU grad | 3:31 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
Hardly a comparison! USU winning against the likes of UC Irvine and U of I is not much to get excited about!

Let's compare though...

07-08 USU 24-11 BYU 29-8 BYU wins!
06-07 USU 23-12 BYU 27-9 BYU wins!
05-06 USU 23-9 BYU 22-9 BYU wins (due to 04-05)
04-05 USU 24-8 BYU 11-21 USU wins

Ouch for who?
Just a thought | 7:09 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
Tulsa lost by 6 on their home court. USU lost to BYU by 5 at a nuetral site. Both teams play relativley powder puff schedules with the better schedule going to BYU. The blisterin question remains: Why play ASU and Tulsa on their home courts but not Utah State when you claim that USU is as bad some BYU fans claim.
Quayle | 8:56 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
If quayle would of found his game a little sooner, the kitties wouldn't even be able to use the USU game as a win.
And as far as the WAC goes, yes it might be weak this year, but Fresno St, Nevada and NMSU have been consistently better then anything the MWC had to offer in recent history.
re roscoe | 8:59 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009
I caught that as well. Obviously the writer has not watched any UNLV games, as Rene is anything but streaky. I would say he is prob the front runner for the POY award.
If only | 8:14 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
If only we would have played BYU in logan, if Quayle would have played better, if only usu were a better team we would have won. I thought BYU fans were a bunch of whiners, until I heard USU fan. You lost this year quit crying BYU has Scoreboard for another year. Quit crying, quit trying to re-write history you lost get over it!!!
WAC | 9:10 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
Last time I check BYU beat the # 1 team in the wac on a neutral floor, and destroyed BSU the number 2 team by 40 in Provo. If the MWC is week then the WAC is clearly pathetic in basketball. I noticed you WAC fans also have left out what UNLV and Utah have done in the NCAA tournament. Has any WAC team done anything in the NCAA tourney besides Nevada???
MMcN | 11:21 a.m. Jan. 7, 2009
I've watched both Tulsa and USU too, more than once each. Tulsa's not deeper. Tulsa is a little more athletic. But they're also less disciplined and don't shoot as well. To say that TU would kill USU is nonsense.
Re: WAC | 5:04 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009
Utah's run with Miller, Van Horn etc were while they were members of the WAC.
FYI:Fresno ST, Utah St and Nevada of the WAC and Wyoming, UNLV, Utah and New Mexico of the MWC have advanced in the tournament.
Only UNLV, Utah and Nevada have made the sweet 16 appearance since the formation of the MWC. Really not much difference between the two conferences.
Just a Suggestion | 9:53 a.m. Jan. 8, 2009
I'm starting a petition to have BYU play basketball in the WAC until they can win a conference game. We need to do all we can do to have a respectable conference when it comes to basketball. Tournament wins are the only way to garner national respect. Everyone knows that BYU hasn't won a Tournament Game in almost 20 years. It's time to say goodbye to BYU basketball in the MWC.
Jessica | 5:31 p.m. Jan. 8, 2009
To Just a Suggestion,

I will sign that Petition. BYU really needs to win a NCAA Tourney game. BYU needs the respect that a Tourney victory would bring and so does the MWC.

It certainly doesn't help the MWC when one of its teams loses in the first round year after year after year (year after year).

Peace out homeboys,

Jess
