QUEST FOR PERFECTION. Ended!
dale | 1:24 p.m. Jan. 5, 2009
I thought it was a great game but one that we should have won. It seems the cougars consistantly have poor shot selection when the game gets tight and at the end of the game, JT especially. I think there are some good bench players like Morgan, Rose and Anderson that could really help if they had more playing time and wouldn't get pulled when they make a mistake. We need more speed and Morgan has that plus, from what I have seen, he is a good shooter. Instead of shooting 3's at the end maybe the first option should be pounding it inside or dribble penetration. Go c
ougars.

I wish people would stop bashing us by using the "Quest for Perfection" slogan against us. Yes, BYU students have higher moral standards than other students at other schools, and we strive for perfection (both spiritual and academic). This is something to be proud of, not something to make fun of.

BYU plays pretty well, but seems at the end of the game, they forget they are playing college ball and resort to playing church ball by throwing up treys. When they learn how to keep playing college ball thru the whole game, then they'll start winning these top notch games.

Stop talking about competing against great teams. Beat a great team. Cummard kept firing blanks at a time when a hot hand might have sealed the deal.

You're right...everyone wants to win every game. But name me another team who so blatantly printed it on shirts and lambasted it in the face of their opponent? Exactly, it's how they went about their business that is/was so annoying.

You know your team slogan is bad when irrelevant Aggie Fans (irrelevant in football) are slamming you. Ouch!

As for BBall, byu has a chance to be special, but they'd better figure it out on the road, not in conference play, but even against UNLV, at UNLV, in the conference tourney. That will show their seasoning as they enter the NCAA tournament.

Bottom line is that WF had better athletes, played defense better at the end of the game and won at a place where few do. It was NOT the refs. WF was not intimidated by the atmosphere. They play in front of hostile crowds just as loud every time they play an ACC game.

I've said this before and I will say it again. What's the difference between Utah State's Basketball Program and BYU's program? USU wins Tournament Games. Since 1991, (BYU's last Tourny win), USU has won 6 Tournament Games.

Weber and the Utes have won Tourny Games too.

Tourny Wins = National Respect. BYU hasn't had any since 1991.

Jimmer is a stud! He carries the team in big games. Cummard is over-rated. He doesn't show up in big games. BYU will finish in the top 2 this year in the league. We need a center with half a brain who doesn't keep swinging wildly when he has 3 and 4 fouls. And has Tav ever seen a shot he doesn't like? He has no skill to drive to the hoop and draw a foul. Jimmer at least goes into the trees and tries to make a game of it!

This is a great article.

Good game cougars. Tough loss but against a good team. Nothing to hang your head about there. As far as the refs, leave it alone. There's always bad calls in every game but really stat's don't lie. The stats at the end are why you lost. You didn't get homered at home. As for the Utes. I know you guys love to say we have no class but really, bringing up Southern Baptists and ISU's don't show much class either so stop whining. Besides didn't the U just beat a ranked Gonzaga team?
