Because NOBODY, including Boozer himself, had any idea a team would be willing to give a second year, second-round draft choice $68 million dollars. Boozer was like Milsap, a promising young player, still on his rookie contract, who would likely be looking for a raise, and so Cleveland decided to do it sooner than later. The offer they made was certainly generous considering Boozer's then status. Remember Paul Silas said Boozer would never be anything more than a role player. So Utah shocked everyone by laying out $68 million. Nobody is going to turn down an offer like that in professional sports where any game could be your last, due to injuries. Stop using the Cleveland incident to write your "reality-show" articles, and create another of your Boozer bashing parties.
