South Summit QB | 8:35 a.m. Dec. 9, 2008
I watched our team play South Summit this season and their QB is nowhere to found...not even honorable mention. Hard to believe that kid was left off the list, he killed us in that game.
Award is for the player> | 4:35 p.m. Dec. 9, 2008
There are a lot of Great Players in Utah High school Football. The ones who did not make the list should not feel let down. If they had a great season they know it. For the kids that made the list congrats. Does making the list mean you have to be College and NFL material? I dont think so. Remember Alex Smith!!! Need I say more? If you feel you should have made the list. Well wake up and smell the roses. You can't always get what you want. But if you try some times you get what you need.

Chris Washington got rocked by the Darts. He may be a great safety but he didn't show up against. Can someone please tell me how Karl Williams gets voted to the SL Trib First Team as a running back? There were 4-5 other RB's in 5A that had more rushing yards and TD's. He's a great DE but RB, no way man. Bad call Trib.

Washington was the 3rd best safety in the region. Layton and Davis both had better safeties. We thought he was going to be a lot better. Our RB Tanner ran him over 2 times.

if you want to know who the best safeties in the state are, just go to timpview high school. You'll find the top two.

Everyone needs to understand that the the better your team does and the deeper it goes into the playoffs more players will be recognized. The team is allowed a certain number of slots on the all state roster based on how they finished. Most of these kids are deserving, some may have benefited from being on a great team, and yes it has something to do with marketing your kid early on. This is how it is and will always be. I don't have a problem with the teams at the top, the problem I have is with some kids receiving votes from bad programs that did not make a difference, this is almost a mercy vote. There are several second team all staters that got owned by just "all region" players on good teams. I know this is how it has always been, but it makes it harder to get a kid to the next level that really deserves a shot. That's my beef for the day.
Why not Driggs? | 1:29 p.m. Dec. 10, 2008
What's this all about Keith Sasine and Jake Soffe from Bingham not getting what they deserved? How about Adam Driggs?! He didn't even get honorable mention for his amazing amazing performance throughout the year. Look at his stats. They speak for themselves.
Who???? | 5:06 p.m. Dec. 10, 2008
Who is Adam Drigg??? and who does he play for??? Ive never heard of him!
Someone told me... | 10:52 a.m. Dec. 12, 2008
that the honorable mention votes were submitted by the coaches for their own teams. For example, team X's coach chose 4 players from his team that deserved to be on it. If this is fact, what a horrible system.

I have just been reading this blog and want to add my thoughts here. Rem peck isgood and big and you can't teach size. but my son played with these boys and he would always say. the two strongest players on this team are Sasine and Bradon Cannon. not peck or yack or soffe or edmunds all the ones whos names get mentioned. SASINE AND CANNON. sorry to let you know but coaches can only hear and read names to influence their vote. some bingham kids have connections to sports writers and they get more press coverage then others. too bad isn't it!!
Best Safety? | 9:42 a.m. Dec. 19, 2008
Sorry, not Washington. Athletic, flashy, Division 1 hair. At BYU 7-on-7, although Northridge beat Pine View, watched PV's WR Robert Evans school Chris. PV ran 6 consecutive pass plays to Evans over two series, all with Washington coverning man on man. Result? 6 receptions, 2 TDs, 2 2-pt. conversion catches. Good luck at Utah, Chris, hope you do well. To Evans: Sorry about your ACL injury, you would have lit up the State this year. Seen you play many times--uncoverable. Good luck in college.

Tanner hinds proved he deserved to be on the list! He's going to be a huge threat next year for davis! Watch out for the darts next year, they are heavily set in the skill postions!1

The writers should select the All-State teams. Leaving it up to the coaches is a joke. Just look at the SL Trib 1st team and you will see.
