Utah Jazz notebook: Injuries continue to mount for Jazz, 5 miss game

are a couple of sissies. I'm so tired of them being hurt every year. What ever happened to the Sloans, the Malones and Stocktons in the NBA? What happened to the players that would play hurt to help their teams?

Players now don't care about their teams, it's all about the money and individual stats. I look at the Jazz bench and can't help but wonder what Karl Malone would be doing if he had AK's injury, or Boozer's injury. What would Stockton have done with D-Will's ankle injury? I can tell you the answer, they would both PLAY.

I've had season tickets to the Jazz and the Utes for years. After tonight's game I have decided to discontinue my season tickets to the Jazz after this season. I'll continue to watch the college game where guys give it their all every game.

Coach Sloan, quit being soft and push these sissies off the bench and onto the floor! If you can't do that then arrange for a prorated discount to all season ticket holders that have to watch guys sit out with hurt fingers and kinda sore, feels like sunburned ankles!

Try this. Miss a game and we double dock your pay for that game. Miss a practice and we triple dock it. We are headed for the ugliest season yet. Where is Larry Miller when you need him. Is current managment too soft?

Do you really want these players out there playing hurt? That's ridiculous. LEt them sit and get healthy and then play well instead of having a 50% team for the entire year. Have you ever tried catching a pass with an injured finger? I have and it was nearly a turnover every time a pass came my way. With leg injuries you have no push or cutting ability so not only can you not get open for a shot, you can't guard anyone. Lay off the players. They play hard when they can and when they can't they let someone else do their best.

DWill is playing hurt and it shows. His effort is appreciated. However, the last 2 nights the second team run by Price has played better. DWill is trying and taking risks that he should not.

I doubt seriously that Boozer would be effective if he tried to play. AK frankly played hurt for the last 3 games before he sidelined and was not very effective. He mostly hit foul shots. Both would be out there if they could go.

The whinning Prima Donnas on this board who talk about gutting it out are all talk.

Sloan said he played Price last night instead of Knight because in practice Knight was not playing well enough. Guys are trying to play in practice and Sloan will use them if he can.

This year is not going the way we hoped. Sooner or later it will all come together. SA was seeded 6th last year. They did okay.

Who cares if they miss games because of small injuries in November and early December. Deron, Booze and AK all played a lot of basketball over the summer. All that matters is that we win the division and get a round of two of home court advantage, which is still more likely then not. I'd rather have a fully healthy team in the playoffs then have a bunch of nagging injuries in the playoffs. It's better the get healthy now rather then not be ready come April.

Your attitude proves my point in the first post. Rather than play through minor injuries you would settle for a 6th seed by nursing injuries on the bench. I'd rather have a team fight through injuries and stay on top of their division.

Malone, Sloan and Stockton played while hurt. This new generation of players are soft and care only about themselves. Malone and Stock played hurt and it set the tone for the Jazz team. They were considered the toughest team in the league.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown of age on these posts... My guess is that the 40+ age group would play through injuries, while the under 40 group would agree with nursing injuries on the bench.

As for your remark being "all talk", I always played through injuries. I'm paying for it now with arthritis and a knee replacement but I'd do it all over again if I went back in time.

Facts are facts, there are many more Prima Donnas today because of the increased salaries and endorsement opportunities. Players aren't willing to take a chance with their bodies playing through injuries like they did in the past. Today's players are soft.

What's the point of winning the division if can't win the championship?

I would rather the jazz get a better draft pick, rather getting another mediocre late draft pick and then doing the same thing all over again.

And by the way stockton and malone playing injured hurt the jazz in the long run by losing many playoff games and series due to injuries.

It was horrible to watch them in playoffs, not being able to get the job done due to injuies.

Athletes should never push injuries. In high school I ran track and I always tried to run through injuries, it was rarely a good idea. I tried to run through a knee sprain, but all I did was make the injury worse. I got to the point where I could barely walk and it took three weeks to get over and injury that probably should have taken three days. When you try to play through an injury, unless minor, it can only get worse. A knee injury is never a minor injury. An ankle injury is never a minor injury, especially in basketball. Our team has just had an unusual string of injuries. It's just one tough break that they need to overcome to get good position in the playoffs. I think it's great that our players are taking their time to get healthy. Once all our players are on the court the Jazz will be a team to reckon with in the NBA.
