good news, especially when it's RSL's "sister" club. Maybe since they'll continue to make money through a recession, Real Madrid won't shine us like last year and come play in 2009, All-Star Game? pleeeaaaassseee...

I think of Real Madrid as RSL "big brother", and yes, hopefully our partnership will have a little more sustanance in 2009.

Good for Real, good for soccer.

...$550 Million USD. Wow is right, its no wonder that the USA and MLS are jumping on the soccer wagon. It's where the money is at.

Ridiculously awesome.

Barca
Villareal
Valencia
Real Madrid

What would you rather have? A nice financial backing, or win La Liga. Valencia are struggling financially, and may have to sell their stars.

Not a "sister" club | 9:17 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Real Salt Lake is to Real Madrid as Jr. Jazz is to the Utah Jazz.

Anyone who believes that Real Madrid views RSL as anything more than this is kidding themselves.

What does this have to do with Mathis? Why do people keep using any article as an excuse to point out how useless Mathis is?

Re: relationship | 11:59 a.m. Dec. 4, 2008
There is a formal agreement. One of RSL's sister companies handles many aspect of RM's business here.

I'm not sure of everything but I'm pretty sure there was TV, acadamies, and marketing of RM in the US.

RSL has also sent players to train at RM.

Well..... | 1:44 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
The RSL squad trained at the Real Madrid Facilities 1 preseason. I wouldnt say that we have sent guys over there to train with them.

It will be interesting to see if we can get them to come for the Allstart game this year, since we are hosting. IF they don't come....I think our little "partnership" means squat.

Little known fact | 8:31 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Real Madrid also has a basketball team.

Real Madrid will at least pretend to take RSL seriously. Even though Dave Checketts didn't do much for the Knicks and the Jazz never won a title when he was here; Real Madrid needs the NBA contacts that Uncle Dave can provide.

The total global soccer economy amounted to $250 Billion in 2004 and grew to just over $400 Billion in 2008.

That's volume plus growth.

And it puts automakers in the shade.
