This could be your guy to rescue you from the lower half of the MWC.
Laramie | 11:18 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
It doesn't matter if Pete Carrol or Urban Meyer took Wyoming's job, you can't win there. Laramie is the absolute worst place to play in america. They won't get players there...the top players will still prefer Utah, Boise, BYU, Oregon St etc.
Re: Laramie | 11:45 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Actually the worst place to play in America is Logan. Laramie looks like USC in comparison.

I sure hope he is able to bring back the old glory days of Tiller and so forth. It's been a long time since we have been consistantly strong. He's got my support.
Hey Laramie | 11:58 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Sounds like you've spent time in Laramie. You might have been there 2 years ago when your Utes got spanked.
you're kidding | 12:10 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Dude is leaving a BCS conference AND going to Wyoming?? What did he do to deserve such a punishment? Must be super desperate to get a head coaching job.
AzByuFan | 12:14 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I've been to Laramie several times. Can anyone explain how Wyo has a stronger football program than SDSU?
Wendover | 12:21 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Good luck to Coach Christensen; I hope he at least visited Laramie to see what he's getting into.

Laramie is like Wendover without the casinos; there's absolutely nothing there. It's amazing that any coach can get players to come there to play.

I can't imagine what a player like Tramaine Brown, from Anaheim, CA, thinks when he first steps off the bus after his 90-minute trip from Denver, the closest airport.

Wyoming should've put their only university in Cheyenne (at least it's a city) or Jackson (the only town in Wyoming that people actually travel from out of state to visit.
Great Hire!!! | 12:35 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I'm not exactly sure why Christensen wants to come to Laramie, but this is got to be the absolute best thing to happen to Wyoming Football in my life time. Coach Christensen is the top assistant coach in the nation and has one of the best, if not the best, offenses around.

W-Y-O!!!!!!
BYU Fan | 12:52 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Hopefully the pokes can get back in the thick of things in the MWC. This is a great hire!
Source of truth | 12:52 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
You pessimists.

Laramie is not the worst place. Ever been to a game in Los Crusces, NM? UUUGGGHHHH!

Here is a top 10 list of good things about Laramie:

10. Student cheers with 4 letter words in them
9. Fennis Dembo
8. 7,220 feet!
7. Loyal fans. Trust me, their fans are loyal because they have to travel to get to the game.
6. The Osmonds did a Stadium of Fire there once. So there!
5. On game days, Laramie IS a city. In fact, it becomes one of the largest in the state!
4. Pass
3. Snow (some players actually like that)
2. Pass
1. It's not Provo, SLC, Ogden, or Logan.

Even in a thread about Wyoming someone can slip in a shot at Utah State... Amazing!!!
Re: Re: Laramie | 12:57 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
You must be kidding. I am no Aggie fan but Laramie > Logan? Have you spent your time in Laramie locked in a windowless room? Laramie is only better than maybe Rawlins. A complete hole. USU might not have great football but living in Logan is light years ahead of living in Laramie
Can Anyone Say... | 1:06 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
... "stepping stone"? Christensen's coming to Laramie for precisely as long as it takes to give the 'Pokes a couple of 8-4 or 9-3 years. When better offers come rolling in, he'll be out of UW faster than you can say "REAL coaching geniuses don't STAY in Laramie." OK, maybe out a little FASTER.

Not surprised Christensen or anyone else didn't take the SDSU job. After the way Chuck Long got jerked around, good luck to ANYONE who gets hoodwinked into THAT job. The Aztecs don't need a new coach. They need a whole new administration.
Laramie part 2 | 1:07 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Remember that coach who's wife left him because he took the job at Wyoming (it was the guy before Vic Koening)?
Man, I miss Vic Koening. I still remember his promise of bringing in amazing talent, the day he was hired.
I miss Cowboy Joe too. That guy was the best 1-8 coach in America.
If moving the Laramie splits up a marriage, you know thats a nice place.
Logan >>>> Laramie by a large margin.
As for the win two years ago, nice. Let's combine the scores from the last 10 Utah-Wyoming games. It's about 1000 for Utah to 32 for Wyoming.
Idahoan | 1:22 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Source of Truth can't even fill a top-ten list; number 4 and number 2 were passes. Maybe the tone was supposed to be sarcastic. I hope so. Having cheers that include four-letter words is not impressive or respectable. What about children who attend the games and hear that? Do you seriously want to have children learning such stuff?
MWC Prestige :) | 2:00 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Who wouldnt want to be a coach of the MWC, for a stepping stone? Thanks to the weak PAC10/WAC and good performances by TCU/BYU/UTAH we look like a pretty appealing conference.
BYU Fan | 2:04 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Good luck to him at Wyoming. It would be nice to see Wyoming in contention for a title again. The year Wyoming went down to the wire with BYU in the WAC Championship was epic! Hope to see games like that again with the Pokes or Wyoming! Good luck coach!
Dang it!!! | 2:28 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008

I was hoping that Ludwig would get the job.

Having been to Both Laramie & Logan, the better place is Logan.... only because Aggie Ice Cream is phenomenal.

So; its like Nebraska but nowhere near the tradition.

The ever been there comments | 5:24 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
obviously hold no water. Ever been to San Diego? Other than traffic and expense what is not to like? San Diego is a great place but SDSU is terrible, so that argument is falling on deaf ears here.

Logan is much better than Laramie and Las Cruces. I lived as a missionary in Las Cruces, great to be a missionary but I would never live there, twenty times worse than Logan.

I have not been to Laramie so I won't judge. I will say that Logan is a great great place to live. The temps are really only slightly colder than the greater wasatch front, in fact when you look at the averages the difference is negligible.

Crime low, cost of living low, beautiful place, great b-ball program to build with and now we have according to Karl Benson, either the best or second best facilities in the WAC.

So to all the Logan haters I will keep Logan and you keep Laramie but that is quite the snag for a coach of the cowboys. I heard John L was in the running there, so where is he going if he isn't coming to Logan?
its great | 6:32 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
went to Lamarie once and thought it was beautiful.
Laramie vs. Logan | 7:48 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
If you count driving past Laramie on the freeway as having been to Laramie than I am sure you must think the 40-some-odd trailers you saw make it a dump. Likewise, the town off to the right of the Logan exit isn't Logan, it's Brigham City, and, having grown up in Tremonton, I can assure you it is a dumpy place ;) However, if you have ever spent any time in either of those locales you would know that you would be hard pressed to find better places to go to school anywhere in the country. Ever been to South Bend? Talk about a town of nothing without the little school located there!
More Laramie vs Logan | 9:22 p.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I have no ties to either Laramie or Logan. But I have visited both Logan and Laramie (Logan about 7 times, Laramie 3 times) and have given presentations at both USU and the Univ of Wyoming. As far as Laramie vs Logan is concerned, it is no contest -- Logan is far superior in virtually every way I can imagine. Now if the University of Wyoming were located in Jackson Hole it might be a different story.
cougar fan | 11:49 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
It would be awesome to see Wyoming get back in the thick of things in the MWC. It seems like they have been in a rut since they got the short end of the stick the year they went to the WAC championship game and didn't get invited to a bowl even though they had 10 wins.
