Wrong!!! Why would Junker kill the Fiesta Bowl to take two loser teams with no fan base or media market?? What have you people been drinking with your Postum??
I really, REALLY hope Utah gets a decent draw this year and gets shown up for their real level of talent which is mediocre at best.
Utah needs to play the highest ranked BCS conference team available-hopefully someone like Texas.
A win against Boise means nothing-while a win against Texas or even Ohio State would make the MWC much more viable in the ultimate long-term BCS automatic qualifying battle.
Boise does not deserve a BCS bowl this year.
A win would not enhance Utah's reputation and a loss would hurt a lot.
If Utah hopes to improve its status it needs to BEAT an SEC or Big12 BCS bowl opponent.
(Ohio St or USC won't do)
That is possibly the silliest thing I have ever read. What on earth would make you say such a thing?
National Championship:
Oklahoma vs Florida/Alabama winner
Rose:
USC vs Penn State (boring)
Fiesta:
Texas vs Ohio State (boring)
Sugar:
Utah vs Alabama/Florida loser (potential blowout)
Orange:
Cincinnati vs BC/Va Tech winner (least exciting)
TV ratings will give Ohio State the final at-large BCS bid instead of Boise State, even though the Broncos are a much more exciting team.
The best possible matchups would be:
Fiesta: Utah vs. Texas
Sugar: Boise State vs. Alabama
Orange: Va Tech vs Cinn
Rose: USC vs Penn State
NC: Florida vs Oklahoma
A)History has shown they have never beaten Boise
B)Utah has no wins against ranked BCS opponents.
C) BSU went into Oregon at Oregon and defeated the Ducks
I won't say BSU would stomp all over Utah but it would definately be an exciting game. Be careful about playing texas you might find yourself down 30 by half. Nothing against Utah but Texas is for real.
BSU beat the utes on a down year. BSU beat a wounded Oregon team without a quarterback by a few points. Join a real conference and play some real teams. Then we can talk.
The Utes have heart. They are for real!
