Lay off dude. I'll take a winning season year in year out, then a losing season. There is a reason why bronco is there and in time he will show you and all BYU whiners why he was chosen to be the head coach.

Utah is the premier non-bcs school now huh?! LOL play more than 5 teams with a winning record. beat a legit team,(like an Oklahoma team with Adrian Peterson that would have been in the title game but for a homer, onsides kick call at Oregon), and go 37-3 with two undefeated seasons and be eligable for BCS games 3x in 3 seasons entering your last game of the year. Be the winningest team of this Millenium! Cuz that's what we've done! and that includes a 13-0 record against the best of the MWC ....oh yeah, and it was barely 2 years ago that we crushed you so bad on your home field that all your fans left and we were chanting "Who's House?...Our House!" in YOUR stadium. Not exactly the way I would expect great fans to treat their own team. I played....I spilt my blood...and I felt bad for Utah that their own fans walked out on them leaving their place for the visitors with over a quarter of the game left!
Don't bother arguing.....it would be silly

byu doesn't travel | 6:58 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Whoever you are, do you travel to games (excluding Provo, Logan and Ogden)?

Many BYU fans I know, including my entire family, have traveled to a BYU game outside the state (and stayed in hotels).

The reality is that Utah is a STATE school and is obligated to take a certain number of Utah residents.

On the other hand, you have BYU and Notre Dame which do not receive state funding as PRIVATE schools. They attract students from all over the US, who typically return to their home state. That, mixed with a larger student body than the U (BYU, not Notre Dame), leads to a wide base of fans throughout the US.

Whether the fans travel 50 miles or 1000 miles doesn't matter so long as the seats are filled.

BYU "travels" in the exact same way Notre Dame "travels". It's not as if all Notre Dame fans live in rural Indiana! How many people do you think live in South Bend? Notre Dame fans, like BYU fans, live throughout the US and pepper the major metropolitan markets.

Re: Memo to Utes | 7:15 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Dude they lost to Kentucky like five or six times. I love hearing the Utes whine everytime they would draw Kentucky. Kentucky beats the Utes everytime all the time.

Three comments:

1. Congrats to Utah, hope we do better next time. Utah winning a BCS game is good for BYU.

2. We live in Oregon. The BYU/Utah was not on Comcast, but TCU/Air Force was. Who is responsible for that stupid contract with the morons at the Mountain? Fire the Mountain tomorrow.

3. This year shows clearly why the bowl system must be further modified. My solution: a bowl cannot have a tie in with more than one conference and it cannot have a tie in with a team lower than 3rd in a conference. Then teams like BSU (who I think is a pretender this year with their incredibly weak strenght of schedule) and BYU and others could get to go to a respectible bowl, not these two junk bowls. The BCS will have total egg on their face with one game, as the Big East and the ACC have no one in the top 15. One of their games will be a joke. Also, make the Cotton Bowl a BCS game and they have to pick either the WAC or the MWC winner.

Re: RE: BRAGGING 5:54pm

I lived in So. Cal. in the early 80's. Big Michigan fan! I went to the Holiday Bowl 84', and what your saying is false! Yes the BYU fans were excited (who wouldn't, beating Michigan), but they were very classy people, my guess is you have a tainted point of view of BYU, which leads me to believe you were not there.

2009 Destination | 8:30 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008

2009 season destination for MWC teams:

Utah 8-0 12-0
TCU 7-1 11-1
AFA 6-2 10-2
BYU 5-3 9-3

Let's all say "BCS repeat" for Utah...
Cranky Coug | 8:54 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
2009 Destination??

I seriously question your sanity!

Corbin Loukes is NO Brian Johnson, they will be pressed to win 8 next year.
Quest | 9:13 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Does anyone know where I can find my 2009 Quest for Perfection t-shirt? hahahahahahahaha!!!! Nevermind, I heard they are selling RED ones at the U of U bookstore. hahahahahaha!!!!

What happened to Brian Johnson being a princess.

Louks is faster. Even at this point, CL is a better passer than Tebow & Maxie.

re: Frank the Tank

What you been drinkin "Tank"

Do you realize you have just compared Corbin to a Heisman Trophy Winner and and one of the top 10 better QB's in BYU history? Lets see what Corbin can do first as a started before we start comparing him to proven QB's.

Frank = priceless LOL
Crimson Club | 11:41 a.m. Dec. 2, 2008
BYU's destination might still be unknown, but I know how they got there! They lost to us! Good luck in the Toilet Bowl, I mean the Vegas Bowl!
Red Ted | 1:12 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
The BYU football players are living right, right into the arms of the Humanitarian Bowl.
Matt | 1:22 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
I'd love to have BYU play Cal in Vegas. BYU pretty much put the Holiday Bowl on the map and maybe we help pump up the Vegas Bowl.

I find it odd that there are people complaining about a 10 - 2 season. Sure we hoped for a perfect season and a BCS bowl, but so does every team. Quit linking your self esteem to the team and just enjoy the games.
12 -0 and 2 10 -2 | 1:34 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Why are Utah fans commenting so much here and not on the page about their team?

Are they poor winners? Or just losers?

Go Utes, Cougs, and Frogs.

has the worst losing streak in the NCAA right now. I've seen them play, and BYU would totally destroy them.

These would be the most realistic matchups.

Utah vs. Texas
BYU vs. Cal or UA
TCU vs BSU (I just want to see BSU fans see how hard it is to score points vs a thing called "defense.")
USU vs....oh wait, nobody!
Re: Cranky Coug | 8:54AM | 3:23 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008

If today was Dec 2 2007, and I put the same prediction for 2008 Destination, you would question my "insanity" and that BJ is a princesss, blah, blah, blah. And you probably said BYU would be 12-0 and would go to BCS national championship, etc.

Get my points?
Utah will repeat.
CentalValleyCoug | 3:28 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008

I got it...
May be BYU fans should wear "Quest for Revenges" t-shirs instead of "Quest for Perfection"...

Good luck in trying with the revenges to Utah and TCU.
Ernest T. Bass | 4:46 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Why do Boise fans believe they've played a better schedule?
The WAC is a joke.
Boise wouldnt' be better than 4th place in the MWC.
If we were to substitute BSU with the top 5 teams in the MWC, any of those 5 teams would go undefeated in the WAC.
Boise, get over yourselves!
re; centralvalleycoug | 4:52 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
...or even better, "Revenge of the Questers" for next season's pre-season t-shirt sale and stadium banner.
Recent History | 4:58 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
I moved here after the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. Since then it has been obvious that BYU has dominated.(Football and Basketball)Not finishing below 3rd. Considering all tie-breakers and head to head below:

2008 Football
Utah #1
BYU #3

2007 Basketball
BYU #1
Utah #6

2007 Football
BYU #1
Utah #4

2006 Basketball
BYU #1
Utah #7

2006 Football
BYU #1
Utah #4

2005 Basketball
BYU #3
Utah #6

2005 Football
BYU #2
Utah #6

I do understand the frustration for Ute fans with the fact that before the last win, it was 3 calendar years between Ute wins over BYU in either sport.
Be careful.... | 5:17 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
All those people wearing red, please be careful... A few people have been attacked lately by what has been reported to be one of Max Hall's passes! Go Utes! Cougs... let your Quest for Vegas keep on keepin on!
BIG and BAD | 5:36 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
BYU is owned by the MNT. Forget about seeing any of their games, including the bowl game, unless you want to be part of the MNT deal. I for one choose not to play with the little sissy boys.
Ignore them | 5:53 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Ute fans can type all their pathetic comments all day long. If they were able to be satisfied with a successful year, they'd leave BYU boards alone. Just can't let it rest knowing that BYU has the better record and most prestige.
Wonder who their new coach will be next year when Whitless goes to Washington or whatever other job offer comes along. I'm extremely grateful that it won't be in Provo!!! I'd rather loose than be a Ute fan.
Money | 5:53 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
All BYU fans should be wanting Vegas over San Diego. It's called payout, $1 million to $750,000. I'd take the extra quarter mil any day.
Sports Gal | 6:50 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
The Quest for Perfection! LOL

Go Utes!
Does not matter to me | 6:58 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
First of all I do think its amazing that BYU has fans all across the nation, Also I would be happy if BYU gets in Las Vegas or goes to San Diego, i think they would would both will have good games if BYU plays Cal, Notre Dame, or Boise State, or even Fresno State, They will be fun games to watch and I'm happy BYU gets a decent bowl game. Maybe next year will be the year.
To ute fans | 7:04 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
Ute fans are commenting on here for who knows what reason, cus they have no lives at all... but I'm sure the ewtes are aware next year loose alot of their key players so they would only win around 8 wins. So utes yack it up all you want this year but member what your team will be like next year and don't be surprised to see all these BYU fans on your board bugging you guys.
Shame, Shame | 7:05 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008
What was the Jan Jorgenson quote after the Holy War? "There are fans on both sides that are morons" or something like that? You people prove it, both sides. Have some class.

Utah leads the all-time series between BYU in both football 50-33 and basketball 124-120.

The truth hurts! Sorry Cougar fans. There is always next year. Maybe you can do another "Quest for Perfection". LOL
Re: To ute fans | 8:56 p.m. Dec. 2, 2008

we are here because you (BYU fans) are our little brothers...and you need our guidance in football.

Happy Bowling!!!

It is pretty much like this:

Utah has whooped up on BYU. Not just a last second lucky win but a real whooping.

BYU couldn't win against BSU. BSU has a thing called defense.

TCU would have their way with BYU any day of the week.

BYU even had a hard time with USU.. even after BYU stole USU recruits.

Go Utah, Go TCU, Go BSU and Down with BYU
Bo Didley Tech | 7:31 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
To all you BYU fans. Utah leads in the all-time series between BYU in football and in basketball.

Until you manage to lead us in a series in either basketball or football, you need to respect your superiors.

You really didn't think we would let you get away with your "Quest for Perfection" this year, did you?

Have fun watching us play Texas or Alabama on National Television in one of the prestigous BCS Bowls. I will not be able to watch your bowl (I don't have the Mountain), but I may be able to listen to it on AM Radio.
Re: Quest for Humor | 7:54 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
SUU?? Get a real college football team, high school football is over!

And 3 top 25 finishes in a row are 3 very successful seasons. No other MWC team has finished the last 3 years ranked in the top 25. Going 32-6 in the past 3 years, I would call that a successful season.

As a cougar loyalist, I'm optimistic about the bowl game, probably playing Cal in the Vegas bowl. I believe BYU will win, and have another 11 win season. In 4 seasons, this is Utah's first 10+ win season, and this is BYU's 3rd. Utah had a great team this year, but BYU has a better PROGRAM. Mark my words, BYU will win its bowl game, finish in the top 15 again, and next year will be in the top 25, while Utah will plumit next year, because they had one good team, and their program has not been established.

Go Cougars!
re: Bo Didley | 10:51 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Utah's dominance in football ended when they lost 19 of 21 games vs BYU from 1972 to 1992, including the worst blowout in the series history 56-6 and the most points given up to the opposing team 70-31.

BYU is 28-19 vs Utah during the MWC and WAC era.

BYU is 25-12 vs Utah since LaVell became head coach in 1972.
Ute fans | 11:18 a.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Just think, once you lose your bowl game, you have basketball to look forward to.

WAIT....I think one of the Pastors on Southwest Baptist church on main street just hit another 3!!!

Try to finish out of the bottom 2 in the MWC this year. The 90s are over. Beat a Dave Rose team and then make a comment.
Re: Utes fans | 4:09 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008

check out the Saragin's rating:
Utah #17 (SOS 86)
BYU # 58 (SOS 341)

SOS 341? who did they play? Ogden high?

LOL!!!!
Dose of perspective | 7:24 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008
Before 'why' fans, (and even some Ute fans) get too carried away with thinking we're going to get creamed in our BCS bowl, just remember one thing - that so-called prestigious football monster OKLAHOMA has lost 4 (count them) 4 BCS bowl games in a row.

THE Ohio state university has gotten their butts wooped in a couple of big BCS games lately also.

I know what you're thinking, Utah is nowhere near either of those programs and the pressure is always going to be on the non-BCS guy to justify being there, but we're in some pretty hefty company up there in the top 10. Fact is, any one of those teams could lose their bowl game.

Go UTES. No excuses, no ducking opponents, just play like you know you can and we'll see where it goes!! Either way, we're there baby, .....we're there!!

Re: Utes fans | 4:09 p.m. Dec. 3, 2008

They only LOL is the loss at HOME to a church. At least Ogden high would not loose to the Baptist church of the southeast. Did they just ask for volunteers at the Sunday service and put together a team and head over to the Huntsman center and beat the utes. Now that is funny!!!.
