The Church's polygamist past | 2:35 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
hurts any stance they may have now. how can they say they are for "traditional" marriage when they started out practicing a very "non-traditional" marriage themselves? i know, my great, great, grandfather had 5 wives. i'm not saying it's good or bad. and yes, i know the church exes people who practice it today, but this fact obscures any credibility the church has on this issue.

also, in the temple a man can be sealed to more than one woman--so polygamy will still be around in the celestial kingdom. so much for marriage between one man and one woman.

love one another as yourself. that's all you really have to do.

There were NO counter-protestors! Only a few hundred people showed up at the park to waive signs, scream and yell, and chant their intolerance of the THOUSANDS that showed up to view the lights and celebrate our Saviors birth. Get it RIGHT!

I will pray for the man or woman who is teaching their children exactly the opposite of what I am teaching my children. I firmly believe I am teaching what the Saviour would have me teach, that is, love for all of my brothers and sisters no matter what their sexuality.
I am sure when the day comes and we are all on the other side of the veil we will all have quite a surprise.
In the meantime I will seek to love God and my neighbor as myself.

Religious bigotry | 10:39 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Civil unions are not the same as marraige (read the legal code in regards to property or health rights) in the eye of the law. All US citizens deserver equal legal rights. The LDS church created outrageous ads that lied about gay rights and they also violated finance laws. Not all Mormons are bad, but the LDS church's attempt to strip away civil rights from American citizens is tantamount to racist bigotry.

I am not gay, but I empathize with their struggle. if they were my rights that were being stolen by a prejudiced organization, I would be furious too. Also, the proposition is technically unconstitutional in California. So lying attack ads, unconstitutional props and larcenous financial habits arent exactly the hallmarks of moral purity that the LDS church should represent. I do applaud the individual Mormons who resisted the temptation to strip away the rights of their fellow citizens though.

Many of you obviously hate gays as well. This is NOT about the majority. At one time, the majority thought African Americans were less than human. Were they right? At one time, the majority thought women shouldn't have the right to vote...were they right? And going back further, at one time, the majority of the world thought the earth was flat...so was it? Also, if you do your homework, you'll find it was in 1978 the LDS stopped fighting for segregation after they were threatened with taxation. The LDS used to believe people of color were "evil" and their color was a "punishment from God". Were they right then? Again, it was taxation that changed their minds.

The LDS church is wrong. Many of you are wrong. You wouldn't want your families or friends choosing who you marry, let alone the government. Be careful playing God. Be careful judging. You may just get what you asked for!

We won in Florida, too, where the LDS church is clearly in the minority. Quit blaming mormons and realize that the American people have spoken. We do live in a democracy, right??
