NCAA, Take Control | 11:32 a.m. Nov. 30, 2008
The NCAA needs to start managing their organization better. The BCS pandering is a joke. The fact that they let ESPN run their show and sign new BCS contracts is bogus. If its about the money for them, cant they see how much more would be involved if there was a playoff series, rather than the ultra elite?

re:Crimson Club | 11:37 a.m. Nov. 30, 2008
I'm sorry, you must have missed the question:

"Tell me more about the CBI tournament. What made Utah so "Elite" to get the invite last year? Why not play in the NCAA or NIT? You are the best, right?"

Try not to stray off topic again. It was last year's team. If you can remember all those years ago, surely you must be able to remember last year.

If you "ARE" the best team in the MWC, as was stated???
re:re:Crimson Club | 11:57 a.m. Nov. 30, 2008
The U of U Basketball team played in the CBI Tournament LAST YEAR. The 16-team field consists of teams that are not selected for the NCAA or NIT Tournament. Teams will be invited based upon their NON-performance during their conference and non-conference schedule, as well as how well the team ISN'T playing at the end of the regular season.

Utah is so elite they were invited last year. They were not good enough for the NCAA, or NIT. If Utah's program goes backward this year, they will be playing in some tourney at the local elementary school outside on the concrete with chain link nets.

To: re:re:Crimson Club,

It's okay to be sour and upset at BYU's lousy Tournament record and their lack of national prestige. The Utes struggled with the same thing in the 1940s, then they won a National Championship and things have been smooth sailing ever since (9th most winning program in the Nation).

My advise to you is never give up hope for BYU. Hold on tight to your dream of them winning a Tournament game. Never let go.

I seldom laugh out loud reading posts. This one was hilarious. Keep holding tight to your dream BYU fans and one day it might come true. Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my pie hole.

"My advise to you is never give up hope for BYU."

Thanks for the advice.

BYU is top 20 in football three years running. We have a National Championship in football, where is yours?

Utah has 2004 and then 2008.

BYU plays basketball in the "NCAA", Utah goes to the "CBI"...

Utah's national prestige???

Right...

I guess when all you have is talk, it's what you do.

Now, get your things ready, I think you have a class tomorrow on the difference between "advise" and "advice". (With all of their academic accolades, I think someone up at the U could teach vocabulary).
how many? | 5:07 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
How many teams in the entire country can say they have gone to BCS bowl games twice in their history?
Not very many. And for Utah to be one of those?

I guess they really are the greatest non-BCS football program this decade. And that's including that Irish team who has made losing fashionable again.
re:how many? | 5:07 | 5:28 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
...and no top twenty finishes, no conference championships between those two times.

BYU has:

2001 Luke Staley Doak Walker Award
1991 Ty Detmer Davey O'Brien Award
1990 Ty Detmer Davey O'Brien Award
1990 Ty Detmer Heisman Memorial Trophy
1990 Ty Detmer Maxwell Award
1989 Mo Elewonibi Outland Trophy
1986 Jason Buck Outland Trophy
1984 National Championship
1983 Steve Young Davey O'Brien Award
1981 Jim McMahon Davey O'Brien Award

Utah State has an Outland.

What does little brother have?

Little Brother is looking for some National Prestige, another "We're #4" chant (gotta get the W still to get it, and good luck).

I'd say you have a program. Use some of those millions and build a tropy case. Then go get some hardware. (King Louie may need a place to hang something,)

To: re: Mormon Girl,

Dude, lighten up. Talk about being sensitive. You can make your point without trying to intentionally hurt someone. There is huge a difference between being humourous and being mean. I think you just crossed the line.

Also, there are very few women on these boards. Try to show some class when talking to one. Your mom would be ashamed.
To Glen | 6:08 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
If you believe "Mormon Girl" really is a girl (or a Mormon), I have two tickets to Utah's BCS Bowl that I'll sell you reeeeeal cheap.
Glen | 6:18 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
How cheap? I actually have been looking for two tickets. I'm serious. Are you interested in selling?
Skippy | 6:22 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
The BCS needs to reorganize from the ground up. They think they hold all the power.
To:Glen | 6:34 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
I have two unused tickets for the Utah UNLV game, they're for last year's game, but I'll kick them your way.
re:Glen | 6:51 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
Please, sir, do not lecture others on these boards.

They have the right to make a statement. Sports are emotional. Let people be emotional. And don't worry about the women. This is the 21st century. Women are strong nowdays.
Glen | 6:54 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
Your offer is tempting, but I think I will pass.

It's been fun to banter with you gentlemen, and ladies. However, I must bid thee adieu.
Chuck Schroeder | 7:26 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
Gentlemen, my wife is calling. I must also bid thee adieu for the evening.

Spudman | 7:46 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
neither Boise State nor U of U have lost a BCS Bowl game. That should speak volumes. Give both teams the deserved justice and a BCS birth.
Mid-major? | 9:03 p.m. Nov. 30, 2008
What does mid-major mean?

Is a mid-mayor team considered to be of lower status than a non-mid-major team?

Is the University of Utah considered to be a mid-major while, say, Iowa State is not?

Is non-mid-major the right term for a team that is not a mid-major?
Lindsey | 10:36 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I would have to think that after watching this season that someone should be playing USC for the national title. USC is the strongest team in the country despite their 1 loss and the oddsmakers would make them favorites over any of the other teams under consideration. However, it won't happen and we'll have to settle for some other game while USC mops up another pretender in the Rose Bowl. How boring! Also, Boise State is better than Utah and should go to a BCS game!
