We're always on the lookout for new games that accommodate 4-6 players or more, but look forward to a few rounds of each of our traditional get-together games.
Rummy-0 or Rummy Cube is a good one for all ages, as is Dominoes. We enjoy playing Phase 10 and a myriad of other games.
I will say that the Wii better for family interaction than the hand-held video games.
Here are some that me and my family like.
Fun for 4-8 players (works with 2-3, but more fun with more people):
Citadels, BANG!, Incan Gold.
A classic that not many have heard of: The Farming Game (and The Construction Game)
Some 3-6 player ones (works with 2, but more fun with more people):
Thurn and Taxis (might just be up to 5), Alhambra, Zooloretto
I think it's good to get your brain thinking in different ways by trying different games. Plus you tend to not get sick of a game as easily.
Happy Gaming!
Has anyone else been to one of these parties? How available are they in Utah?
I bought a lot of fun things for Christmas this year for my family and I'm looking forward to playing more with them in the weeks after Christmas. I like the idea of a weekly game night at our house, and I'm going to try it. Maybe, even my husband will want to join in with us.
Thanks for an enlightening article.
When we do racing or something a bit beyond the skill of the wee ones they get controllers that aren't plugged in and teamed up with an older buddy to "help" control the car or whatever.
Of course, we also enjoy board games some of which have survived several generations Sorry, Rich Uncle, Masterpiece, and Waterworks. Then there are those games like Dominoes and Contact that aren't board games or card games.
