This is disgusting! What do people think about Mom's texting their teenage
daughter's friends or boyfriends? Do you think maybe it starts out
innocent like "oh im just seeing if this boy is a good kid and if he likes
my daughter"... and then turns out to be almost an obsession with the
attention they are getting??

I doubt it starts out innocent. When this woman initially contacted these boys,
she must have had something nefarious going on somewhere in her mind. The fact
that it happened multiple times with multiple boys supports that theory.
It's always strange when a female sexual predator is found, but rare or not, they are out there.

This same thing happened here where I live. The woman was doing this to
"get back" at her husband who had been frequenting prostitutes. It
ended up destroying the entire family -- not to mention the boys' families.

She will plea bargain and won't do any jail time! Just the way the system
works. Had this been a male predator, he would still be in jail or under a high
bail. This woman has serious issues and I'm glad i'm not her husband,
how humiliating!!

To say that "that's puts an interesting twist on it" because
it's a female instead of a male just shows how hypocritical and blind our
society is. We can acknowledge a man's desire but women don't have
them, get real. The same desires, good or bad, are there with men and women.
They have the same motivations. About the only differences I see are their
methods and the consequences. I hope the law doesn't see any difference.

Any that were platonic/just friends messages shouldn't be a big deal... even if there was a difference in the ages of those involved. An adult can be friends with a teen or child, that's perfectly healthy.

Every week it seems we read about something like this. I always want to ask,
"Doesn't anyone EVER learn from the mistakes of others?"
Apparently not, because the same dumb things keep happening over and over. Lots
of sorrow all around in this situation. The kids, their families, her family,
and ultimately her as well. I believe she definitely needs some intense
psychosexual counseling, and some jail time, and certainly probation with all
the appertaining restrictions, for her protection as well as the protection of
possible future victims. With appropriate counseling and monitoring, she can
improve her life and identify why she did these things, and learn more
appropriate ways of behaving. And I hope the boys will also receive the
appropriate counseling, as this can adversely affect the rest of their lives,
especially when it comes to future sexual relationships. Best of luck to all,
and for heaven's sake, SOMEONE learn something from all of this!

I really don't care either way but... does anyone else find it funny that
the police still went to the trouble of questioning her after they had already
found out that the boy she sent the pictures to was 18... Im pretty sure that
statutory stops at 18. Granted she volunteered the info on the younger ones
(stupid) did the police really have grounds to continue questioning her?

Sure, nobody gets hurt, it's a victimless crime. Tell that to the boy that
gets her pregnant and is stuck with 20 years of child support payments because
she decided she wants to keep the baby. These laws are in place to keep adults
like her from sexually preying on children. These boys may know how to use that
part of their anatomy, but they don't fully appreciate the consequences.

decry illicit sex and sex acts of all varities.
Legal marriage is where it is at, and mother/father procreative relationships in responsible and moral environments are invaluable to the family unit, society and the world.
I pray that god may bless and heal all the victims in this case, including the predator who seems to be a victim of her own misguided notions or behaviors.
Nobody is perfect, but we all have to try to police each other to avoid the more dastardly grievances in life.
I am glad that these people are on the road to recovery, hopefully.

If her attorney has a lick of brains he will ask the prosecutor to clearly
demonstrate the "harm" done. If you charge somebody with harming a
minor you should be able to prove that there was some damage.

We live in a very interesting society. From both ends of the scale there is way
too much preocupation with sex in general.
From abstinance to promiscuity how could a forum like this address this subject.
It was WAY wrong for this woman to engage in this activity. Period.
To most of the world, it's wasn't all that off the chart for teenage boys to be "experimenting" with sex. In a Mormon community, not at all, the rest of the country, very normal.

I am a mother of two teenagers, male and female, and I have no reason AT ALL to
send text messages to their friends. If I want to have a conversation with them,
I do it face to face. I text my friends who are adults, grown-ups, not kiddos.
What she did was wrong right start from the beginning. If the police wants to
know if there are more "friends" around, they should publish her name.
I feel so bad for her family especially her daughter who is paying the
consequences of such inmature grown up woman who couldn't deal with a
midlife crisis.

run the law based on "what-ifs?" If you did, you wouldn't be

Just the type of entry I wanted to add. This could be an example of our making

As another poster stated, just because the "boys" knew how to use their tools doesn't mean they can fathom the consequences of them. They're lucky that nobody got pregnant this time, doesn't mean things like this are still not wrong.
As humans we have strong sexual urges, it's our nature and sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. In order to try and rectify the "bad" side of this nature we impose laws, and sometimes religion to restrict member of our society from straying into our sexualities negative aspects.
As for the gender issues, I concur that it should be 100% equal punishment, regardless if the offender is female or male.
Consenting adults (I stress adults because children below the age of 18 do NOT have the emotional nor rational capabilities of an adult, no matter how much they protest this) should have the right to express their sexuality any way they choose, provided it does not harm themselves, each other, or anyone else.

Calling or texting is not wrong if the nature of it is not inappropriate. I often have to get in contact with my partner's parents for advice for gifts or organizing family events or any number of other reasons.
Also, by no means do I support oppression or misleading children into believing the world is a perfect and wonderful place. However, the time and means with which a child is exposed to certain things should be determined by that child's guardian or parents, not by another adult seeking illicit self gratification.

Certainly not the LDS Church. It isn't evil, it's sacred. There are
some denominations that preach that idea, but not mine. When something is
sacred, it is to be used is certain circumstances, not brazenly or without due

Read up on Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau. Mary Kate 1st had him as a
second grader, then again when he was in 6th grade. She decided that at 13 he
was old enough for a sexual relationship. She got pregnant, went to jail, was
released & was not to be around him.
Guess what, they were found together again & she went back to jail. Oh yeah, she was also pregnant with his 2nd child. She spent the rest of her 7 year sentance and within 2 months of being set free her and Vili were married.
Vili is only one year older than her youngest of 4 she had with another man.

minors? That is the question in this case because typically, women who molest

I find it very interesting that that when there is a story about sex, rape,
adultery or homosexual activity it is always the #1 most viewed story on this
site.
We have a newly elected president, there are terrorist attacks happening in India, the Iraqi War rages on killing our troops, we are in the beginning stages of the worst financial crisis in a century, and yet what are the # 1 stories? What grabs our attention? Sex stories.
It makes me sick to see this trend even in our Utah.

As promiscuous as this woman is, there certainly could have been harm to her
underage "victims." Sexually transmitted diseases are all over the
place and given her behavior, she has a good chance of being a carrier. She put
each of these boys at risk. Lock her up and throw away the key. She's a

counselor and one man is in prison and the other may end up there. Both mdn had
extremely high bail set.
This older woman gets involved with 3 or more teenage boys and you can bet your last dollar she will get some kind of probation or a minor jail sentence.

I remember the article about the West High teacher, the paper had his picture,
his name, and his job title. Also how long he had been at West High. It stated
how long the acts had been taking place. WHY does this person have to go
through the paper mug shot and a FEMALE does not. The news on television and
the newspapers have double standards, isn't it great we live in a free
press nation, where they can determine who's lives are RUINED TOTALLY and
those who's lives are just placed on hold for a few short months.

I think the problem is numbers. And that number is 18. Not all people are
immature idiots before they hit 18 and plenty stay stupid way past 18. Was
anyone here terribly different at 17 then when they were 18? Everyone is
different and all cases are different. There are cases were a twenty something
year old is involved with a 17 year old girl, should we light our torches and go
get him? We could, its technically illegal, but its such a fine line. Why do
women get treated differently? An older woman with a teenage boy? Because it IS
different. It may still be wrong or illegal or whatever your moral compass
says, but its just not the same. Find me one teen boy who would not like to be
with an experienced woman. And the whole argument about not knowing what
problems could result is universal and not unique to this case or any age. If a
boy steps up and claims injury than by God yes, lock her up. But I doubt that
will happen. I am not saying this isn't wrong, its just blown way out of
proportion as usual with anything sex related...
