Utah Jazz: Okur looks like old self in win; Millsap a starter
4 comments | Read story
The reason AK was moved to the 2nd unit is that he was the 4th or even 5th offensive option as a starter. There are only so many shots to go around amongst the starters. When Boozer and Williams come back, scoring opportunities for CJ will dry up.
Boozer and Williams should average 20 points per game, with Memo around 16 and Brewer and AK about 14. That only leaves about 20 points for everyone else: CJ, Millsap, Korver, Harpring, Knight/Price, etc.
If Boozer left, CJ, Brewer and Memo could all up their shot attempts while Millsap concentrates on cleaning the glass and scoring off of put-backs.
I never thought I'd be comfortbale seeing Miles and Brewer shooting jump shots, but those two have really improved. Offensively, we'd miss Booz much less than you think. Defensively, Millsap is a huge improvement.

I think the biggest surprise this year will be Koufos. It was Brewer last year and Millsap the year before. We've been lucky in the draft lately, although it's too bad Almond didn't pan out. No joy from Almond, it seems.
Getting Knight was a plus, too. We should no longer have big drop-offs when D-Will gets subbed, like has happened in the past, even when Stockton was playing. Price is getting better at running the team, with his playing time helping in that respect helping a lot, and Knight appears to be dependable and experienced.
Gonna be another really interesting Western race this year, although I think the Spurs have the inside track if they're all healthy with their trey advantage (so many players that can shoot it well).
