Johnson was flat out great today. He was very sharp, and made great decisions throughout the game.
The Difference | 1:49 a.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Brian Johnson funneled his emotions into action. Hall threw a temper tantrum, just like he's done all season. There's the difference in this game.

BJ. He did a phenomenal job and has matured a lot over the last 4 years.

Hall, Collie and Pitta | 8:59 a.m. Nov. 23, 2008
The Why can talk all day long about Hall, Collie and Pitta. But when you only have a couple of receivers that can catch a pass it hurts you - you make dumb mistakes like Hall (The "Hall Factor + 6") did. Johnson has 5-8 receivers he can go to every game (and has). This is one of the big reason Utah is the better football team.
BJ, thanks for your 5 years | 9:27 a.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Hey BJ:

As a loyal Ute I want to thank you for coming to Utah and giving us the last 5 years.

I've always appreciated your intelligence, competitiveness and charisma.

I don't know what comes next for you after this season, but I think you'll be great at whatever it is.

I hope it's been as worthwhile for you as it has been for us.

Thank you Mr. Johnson for a great fun season, I truly enjoyed watching you and the entire team play your game. You should know that my husband's 47 year old nephew USU Aggie Alum and great supporter of that school say to me "Brian Johnson, I just love watching that guy play".
Good luck in your BCS game, we will be watching and we wish you great things wherever life takes you -Enjoy the ride!

Reed's gone. If Collie goes the the nfl, we're going to be in a world of hurt next year.
I'm tough on the sideline though.

BYU has a way of making opponents look better than they are. As good as BYU's defense was supposed to be early in the year, it looks more like the old Edwards-style defense, where you seldom penetrate into the opponent's backfield to disrupt their timing and plays. Instead, Bronco seems to be happy with the "bend but don't break" defense. That's useless against a good offense, and a great way to make an average QB look like a Heisman candidate.

Maybe Bronco can pick up a certain now-unemployed defensive specialist to create a top-ten quality defense. Let the student employ the teacher! Maybe that'll help.

congrats to utah going to the bcs once again. byu will never make it.

congrats to byu on making your conquest to 3rd place in a mediocre conference and qualifying for the blue rug bowl.
Best Utah QB | 1:52 p.m. Nov. 23, 2008
Brian Johnson took some grief from fans throughout the four years, mainly because he succeeded Alex Smith, but I think he will be remembered as the QB with the most heart and the biggest drive to win. He is by far the most clutch QB (has he ever messed up a 2 minute drill?), and has an incredible record. I hope his poise can carry him to the NFL. Brian Johnson, we will miss your leadership and game controlling ability.
RE: Blue Boy | 12:44 a.m. Nov. 24, 2008
Seriously, making us look better than we are? Come on now, the better team won, and it was never in question. In the first half, Utah dropped several interceptions. Two interceptions that were dropped turned into BYU TD's. Most of the people I sit around figured Utah was in mighty Max's head, and Utah would begin to catch them in the second half.

Max lost the game with his poor sport behavior after throwing his first interception in the first half. What a baby. Hitting a guy after the play was over. What a cheap shot. Go cry with John Beck, I'm sure his weekend was ruined as well.

Also, I don't agree that Brian Johnson is an average QB. Brian had a great year. Better than Halls by far. His numbers aren't as pretty, but he threw far fewer passes, completed about the same percentage, not far off on the TD's and threw fewer interceptions. Brian also guided Utah on two game winning drives against Oregon State and TCU.

Johnson is the better QB and will be the MWC player of the year!

Johnsons numbers were terrific. It was a great win despite being out-gained 419 to 415 yards.
